shell32.dll

- Windows\system32\shell32.dll played as audio data.
When binary files (like EXE or DLL) are imported into some audio editor (like SoundForge) as raw audio data, they sometimes turn into weird and interesting music tracks.
In this case, shell32.dll became an ambient progressive-noise track of 17.5 minutes (I've removed silent gaps and some noise), here are the logical parts of the track:
0:00-0:25 - "intro"
0:25-1:35 - flanger-like repeating pattern
1:45-4:00 - the interesting part with many different patterns
4:00-8:10 - an amusing pattern of a series of notes which repeats itself many times in different "arrangements"
8:30-14:25 - a chilly Decepticon-style pattern
14:25-15:00 - "outro"
Overall, such "music" will probably be a hit among the robots in the future (after the humanity is exterminated, of course).
Inspired by: • MS Paint EXE file Inte... - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
The buzzes and the repeating "arrangement" notes are actually icon data.
Would make sense! Icon data would have some repeating data, especially the headers.
+A0vol9Z I agree, this shit is fascinating.
What is icon data?
@@plane15man you know the little icons when you use programs? they don't come from thin air
@@official-obama Thank you, I'm in IT now so I'm aware, lol. Thanks for bringing me back to this, I had completely forgotten.
It seems that dubstep was born by accident when some DJ wanted to load a sample but instead accidantly selected the exe file.
DLL, not EXE.
RandomCatDude There is not much difference , both are object codes
@@alexeyzaplavnov747 well they aren't the same
@@alexeyzaplavnov747 actually, exe files sound way different
@@Zombieboss2002 Correct, DLL is basically shared code and data between EXEs.

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO
i cant get over 2:31 it sounds so damn cool
4:05 this part is actually where all the windows icons are encoded! When converted into rgb it's amazing!
Yeah, I know it’s like boom boom
Back in the day... before WiFi, before broadband, there existed these devices called Telephone modems. You would plug them into RJ11 telephone jacks, and the device would convert digital binary into analog tones, which another device on at the number you called, would listen to the tones and turn it back into binary.
When my brother would use it, I'd pick up the phone with the mute button held down, and if it didn't drop the call, would sit and listen. Sounded very similar to this.
Now i want to do that but aol problaby doenst exist anymore
@@shoeskode136 it doesnt but i think you can use alternitives
Stop installing Windows to my brain thru my ears.
xD
Sypaka *ahem* A part of windows, because it's a DLL file, and not a whole ISO.
thealternativeJ only the shell resource file, I know.
+Sypaka +10
That wouldn't be how you download windows, it'd be a whole lot more audio.
Help! The aliens are installing Windows on my mind!
Dont worry, thats a good thing (unless its Vista), you can access WiFi just by thinking! LOL!
I always wondered if one could install games on your mind using BInaural audio and hypnosis. Not disproven yet, so... when can I play Quake and Minecraft instead of dreaming!?!?!?
theLuigiFan0007 Far too complex. But seriously! Dreams are FAR more interesting!
theLuigiFan0007 You can do biokinesis, etc! They have so much potential! Also, check the "RestWell" app out - it helps you to rest well by the usage of high frequencies!
I hope its Windows 11
@@theLuigiFan0007Productions well if you can probe the brain with electrodes, you can rewire it to play minecraft in your sleep

Yaaaaaaaaay Yaaaaaaaay
Hook this up to your home alarm system and everything will know not to mess with your house
This could be a wonderful tool to create and build sound effects!
I can feel the data entering my brain
wow this is very inspirational for noise music and experimental electronic
around 10:40 sounds rly cool
That sounds partially like PS1 bootup sequence...
Dubstep music
やべぇ、結構いい展開の音とかあって面白い。平時に家の中でずっとBGMにして生活してもいいレベル。8:12~結構しびれる。
データの放送とか思い出すとときめきますね( ´∀`)
音綺麗ですよね~
It's official, the robots have taken over.
+TheAwesomeDude And they are talking to each other through those files, planning their next move. They are everywhere. In every single executable.
0:00 - 0:25 : The robots booting up
0:25 - 1:35 : Reading themselves
1:45 - 4:00 : The intresting conversation
4:00 - 8:10 : The robots destroying humanity
8:30 - 14:25: Them teabagging dead humans
14:25 - 15:00 : The robots power down
Oh yeah, one last thing. This account is operated by a robot. 60454484984753286
They are basiclly attemting to code Shell32 into our minds!!!!!
I received the same sounds by taking advantage of a bug in MilkyTracker (a MOD/XM composer), which literally allows almost any file format to be played back as a sound. DLL's are accepted as well, but of all the irony, EXE files cannot be accepted (at least not without editing the EXE file in plain old Text Editor and adding a single space.) At one portion of this DLL I extracted, it sounded like a gunshot clip from the old-fashioned western cartoons.
How do you do it
how to do?

Hold on a second... From 0:27 I clearly hear a horse.
It's a car
if you listen closley on old laptops (win 95/98/2000) you can hear somthing similar through the speakers (if loud enough)
2:30 was a dope bass drop, son.
14:54 is a minecraft let's play-er when they get blown up by a creeper
Sounds like the enslaved, tortured soul of an Atari 2600. Which sums up Windows 8 quite nicely, actually.
Sounds like when somebody put their Sega CD into the computer
This is what we will be listening to in 2045.
Faszinieren! Das aus Programmzeilen solch ein Rhythmus entstehen kann!!
Shred that guitar, shell32.dll
You just installed Windows onto your brain.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES tnternet on tests! No more wrong answers, and games instead of studying! LOL
Crap.
4:00 are sprites (graphical elements)
4:02 is datablock size info
Could this be published as original music? Or could Microsoft make claims and successfully sue? Kinda a grey area of copyright, I guess.
will I update my brain if I will listen through the entire audio?
Way better than most modern music.
+Bobso Way better than most defeners.
BETTER THAN TEMMIES HAHHAHA
When you actually play Track 0 on a game disc on your CD Player:
This is pretty cool
Sounds like a mix of Dial-up and dubstep to me.
Am I officially a hipster for enjoying this?
The genre this would fall into, is harsh noise, some people seriously like it.
Honestly yeah
0:27 sounds like one of those sounds effects from Pinball 3D

Seriously, best music ever. Thought the washing machine was going at one point.
The most epic .exe interpretation. Do ketbal space program next.
next up, a text file.
The parts with deep vox sound almost like early orchestra riffs. Itsike a time machine. But with sound. O.o
the last movement was very touching
what format of sound did you use?
Do you think it would be possible for you to do something similar to this, but instead of taking the dll as raw audio data encoding it in Audio FSK or QPSK?
epic!
The icons start at 3:58
is this a Lapfox song?
I get different sounds on Windows 8.1's shell32.dll! P.S. My robot just LOVES this type of music!
Obviously, different operating systems will have different sounds.
this confirms my suspicion that bill gates is actually skrillex
Noise music i love it
It's got a western feel to it.

Creepypasta material
Some guy at MS should put a rickroll in the next shell32.dll.
i got a blue screen on my brain
well i liked it.
legit dubstep
What sample rate did you use when you imported it?
I'll have to try that. I've been trying to do this with some Linux executables and I've just been getting noise. Thanks for the tip.
@TheKeaper i've got ask for you, if you are informatican... To hear every algoritm, i've should set ,,rendering" in 8bit and mono, or let set rendering automaticly? I can see big deferences between 8 and 16 bit, and mono and stereo
Wdowa94 16 bits, stereo if you want two tracks (and they could be different, giving the music a deeper ambience), but if you are working with pure frequencies you may use mono.
But anyone knows why?
Even better than skrillex
How would pokemon green sound in here???
Microsoft could be converted into electronic music. Imagine the album "Program and files" Microsoft and every music, a fragment of these files. LOL!
Now is the DJ Bill Gates in concert with David Guetta lol!
[insert a joke abut this being a new Ryoji Ikeda song here]

@TheKeaper Yes, indeed, but try out Audacity 1.3 BETA, there you can drop your speed almost live. Open file in RAW mode.
This sounds like dial up. Probably this is the same technique used for 36k modem internet connectivity.
I guess some of the old computer noises (like BEEP) its like that... (Wut what? old computers use audio data for wot?)
