after i start to really like a band i love to go watch interviews to get to know the band. just to see what they're really like. i love these guys even more, seem pretty cool.
This interview felt a bit like if God just discovered that a group of angels are now his favorite band and decided to interview them personally. XD What an honour must have been at that time for Joe and Mario to be interviewed by none other than Randy Blythe.
my dad's first name is Joseph but everyone calls him Joe and his middle name is Mario. Then i come along... i love Gojira, metal of all kinds and i play the drums. we're Mauritian and speak French. coincidence? i can only wonder
Hearing Joe Duplantier say "oh, this band is very powerful" is like hearing Bill Gates say "oh, this person is very rich". Definitely NOT as powerful as your own band bro, for sure
Truly humble dudes. I like that they touch on the french scene. Hacride, Aabsinthe and Scarve all have a similar thing going on to gojira. Technical and Monolithic. Would love a world tour involving these bands. Would be too good really. Not to mention the french black metal scene... Blut Aus Nord, Anorexia Nervosa, Deathspell Omega etc.
He's heard the same questions a million times, so he knows what not to ask, but also knows what he'd like to be asked. That and he's a great and smart guy... so he knows what he's doing?
You can only respect Gojira. Deliver 110% at concerts. Went to a concert with them at a small venue. After the show they took time to say hello to fans and even stayed and talked to several fans - very classy.
do exactly the same thing bro. It really makes you love the music way more. Like, I didn't really like Mastodon or any of Devin Towsend projects (SYL in particular), but as soon as I heard them talk... Let's just say these are my favorite bands now.
@PrinceD4rkstR I think it's really a great thing that someone like Randy from such a huge band give props to Gojira the way he does. Bands like Gojira really deserve the exposure and this helps a bit. IMO, though, I don't agree with your sentiment that Randy would like LOG to sound more like Gojira. LOG has it's own Solid, Violent and Beautifully IN YOUR FACE Metal sound. Both these bands are amazing! Can't wait for the next Gojira... I can't even imagine where it will take us. Long Live Metal
I'm pretty content with the fact i have seen everyone in this video live, with their bands ofcourse. 2nd and 3rd best gigs i've ever been to, 2nd only to Tool, now that was good...
Its because of Randy that I found out about these guys... I was watching an interview with Randy and he was talking about music he was listening to or some shit that he really liked.... or someshit... and he brought up Gojira... I was wtf is that? first listened to "the link" and fell in fucking love... not only did I really fucking like the actual music part but, I read the lyrics( yes i Couldn't understand some) and I felt ... describable I then also fell in love the lyrics and so on lmao
Funny the mention of them always supporting when touring america. They've headlined the UK before, but recently they've had a similar situation here, first supporting trivium then recently In Flames. The thing is, literally everyone at the In Flames shows in the UK were way more excited about Gojira than they were In Flames (I know I was). Also, first timers who were there for In Flames were saying Gojira had stolen the night.
ajili777 I concur, when me and my friend went to a festival, we noticed he didn't pass the age minimum, and we talked to this guy who offered to take him with him in the festival (you could enter under supervision), which was really great, the festival rocked, and metal people really ARE the nicest of all!
randy with an eyehategod hat and an outlaw order shirt. awesome. must have been when he was recording "for the sick" with his other band halo of locusts covering eyehategod.
They forgot to mention the band Anorexia Nervosa, but that's cool. These guys are awesome :) And so is Randy, of course. He's a sweetheart. Very glad to have met him. Hope to see Gojira in the future.
eRNIE mAR He sounds like a combination of Phil Anselmo, Max of Sepultura and the dude from Fear Factory all wrapped into one and the drummer gives Brann Dailor a run for his money. You can't compare them to the dude from slayer or Niko McBrain because it's like comparing a teacher to a student.
@lorddresefer Ah that suck dude but they should tour again because I really want to see Gojira and they're my new favorite band. That would be cool if they had their own head lining tour but it's really expensive for foreign bands. If they tour with LOG it'll be cheaper, they'll gain a large audience, and I also get to see both of my favorite bands.
When I met them they knew enough to hold a conversation, at least Mario did and the other guitarist. (sorry dont know his name) They were both very humble.
Well, No Return put out an album in May of this year called Puzzle of life. But I was thinking you might not like The CNK because they have a more industrial sound, but if you do check them out check out their first album called Ultraviloence uber alles, (back then they went by the name Count Nosferatu Kommando and DEFINITLEY check out Antaeus, thats some serious brutal death/black metal!
well by the "metal scene" it doesn't only involve the number of bands [quantity does not equal quality ;)]but also the way the metal community is structured and also the way the fans "think"....coming to the bands man you forgot Alcest ... their album Souvenirs d'un autre monde is one of the best albums of 2007 also anorexia nervosa, blut aus nord, deathspell omega are some of the French metal bands that I listen to..come to think of it the power metal band heavenly is also french :)
Americans aren't all assholes - only a few bad apples to make the whole bunch look shitty. The metal scene in America is way more friendly than you'd think.
3 of the coolest, most down to earth metal musicians I've ever had the pleasure meeting, espically Joe, one of the nicest humans I've ever met, GOJIRA are the truth, L.O.G. aren't too shabby either, sucks Chris is no longer gonna be beating the shit outta the drums anymore tho :(
I've heard of Anorexia Nervosa; never heard of the other 2. I'll keep an eye out though. :) No Return were another good band, dunno if they're still around...
he talks about Trepalium (you may found some videos on youtube), Manimal, Scarve, Klone, Eths, Dagoba and Hacride. They're also talking about Ultravomit and Gronibard but it's a little bit different =P
He said Scarve which was a awesome french band. The band has been disbanded for quite a bit, when the drummer Dirk Vanbeuren and guitarist Sylvain Coudret joined Soilwork. Dirk Vanbeuren recently joined Megadeth.
hah, i didnt know randy had a children of bodom tattoo, thats cool. i like it when members of bands appreciate their contemporaries, rather than just competing with them
Mario's english has gotten so much better over the years.
3 of some of my favorite musicians in one room
Randy gave a better interview than like every other interviewer theyve had.
Randy should do a podcast
Agreed... he would be great at it.
Here I am in 2018 watching interviews from literally a decade ago
Same
Yep.
Hi
:)
I'm so upset at how late I am to the show :/
I love how chill Randy is.
Just love gojira so much.
after i start to really like a band i love to go watch interviews to get to know the band. just to see what they're really like. i love these guys even more, seem pretty cool.
Joe is just so adorable
This interview felt a bit like if God just discovered that a group of angels are now his favorite band and decided to interview them personally. XD
What an honour must have been at that time for Joe and Mario to be interviewed by none other than Randy Blythe.
Very nice interview joe and mario look so shy haha great job guys!! GOJIRA /m\. LAMB OF GOD /m\
They look so nervous in front of randy.. Well.. Randy is actually one of the god of the metal
fuck yeah LOG interviewing Gojira
Lamb of god
Opeth

Wohoo !
Back from the time they werent even popular !

1:00 "Oh.. Hi! I'm Joe." ENOUGH
Gotta love that Ultra Vomit shout out!
Their parody of Gojira (called Calojira) is so funny yet so accurate
Ultra Vomit are awesome too !
@@Founworld their lyrics are really dumb
and now they have their silver cord studio Joe and mario built in new york! \m/
Can't believe I'm just now seeing this! Fantastic interview!
This band is fucking awesome. I've only been listening to them for week and they're slowly becoming one of my favorite bands.
Can't wait to see you in Dublin. Xxx
I think this is an amazing video, Gojira deserves sooooo much more!
my dad's first name is Joseph but everyone calls him Joe and his middle name is Mario. Then i come along... i love Gojira, metal of all kinds and i play the drums. we're Mauritian and speak French. coincidence? i can only wonder
These guys are so awesome.
I regret not getting into their music earlier. Their early shows were incredibly brutal.
Randy, my absolut favourite idol.
+ Gojira which is my current favourite band.
FREAKIN' AWESOMENESS.
Hearing Joe Duplantier say "oh, this band is very powerful" is like hearing Bill Gates say "oh, this person is very rich". Definitely NOT as powerful as your own band bro, for sure
Truly humble dudes.

i'm seeing Lamb of God, Gojira, and Dethklok September 13!!!!! Cant fucking wait, 2 of my favorite bands!
LAMB OF GOD AND GOJIRA NEED TO TOUR TOGETHER!
I think they have
My two fucking favorite bands ever!!🖤🖤🖤🤘🤘
You can only respect Gojira. Deliver 110% at concerts. Went to a concert with them at a small venue. After the show they took time to say hello to fans and even stayed and talked to several fans - very classy.
I saw these guys yesterday in Copenhagen. The freakin rock!
yea ive seen allt hese guys live and meet them and talk to them there all very nice down to earth.
do exactly the same thing bro. It really makes you love the music way more. Like, I didn't really like Mastodon or any of Devin Towsend projects (SYL in particular), but as soon as I heard them talk... Let's just say these are my favorite bands now.
i was fortunate to see lamb of god, machine head, gojira, and trivium live the same night. that kicked ass.
Whoa, finally an interview in English!
does anyone know what that french band was that mario suggested?
@PrinceD4rkstR I think it's really a great thing that someone like Randy from such a huge band give props to Gojira the way he does. I'm pretty content with the fact i have seen everyone in this video live, with their bands ofcourse. 2nd and 3rd best gigs i've ever been to, 2nd only to Tool, now that was good...

France isn't a small country!!
Randy is from America. Most countries look small compared to the US.
+Charlie Kota except for Australian, bout the same ;)
yeah thats why we all hate it ! XD
I'd looove to see lamb of god and Gojira headlining a tour together.
they are so cute 🥺
They forgot to mention the band Anorexia Nervosa, but that's cool. These guys are awesome :) And so is Randy, of course. He's a sweetheart. Very glad to have met him. Hope to see Gojira in the future.
hey, do you know about The CNK, Antaeus, or Anorexia Nervosa. Those are a couple of good bands from France. Just trying to help ;)
heavy metal is more than just music, its all a family of people who have respect for one another
These guys are fucking awesome!
I JUST noticed Randy is wearing an Eyehategod hat. So fucking awesome!
Obliveon were another amazing French metal band...Canadian too!
i was listening to gojira and I said to my self. "the singer has a similar tone to randy blythe"
next thing i see is an interview and here i am
eRNIE mAR He sounds like a combination of Phil Anselmo, Max of Sepultura and the dude from Fear Factory all wrapped into one and the drummer gives Brann Dailor a run for his money. You can't compare them to the dude from slayer or Niko McBrain because it's like comparing a teacher to a student.
Yeah, I love the ones in "The Art ov Dying", that song is fucking amazing! Esoteric Surgery is brilliant as well.

While recording this interview, The Way of All Flesh wouldn’t be our for another year. That blows my mind
@lorddresefer Ah that suck dude but they should tour again because I really want to see Gojira and they're my new favorite band. Very cool
I think Randy forgot they already mentioned who they were...
When I met them they knew enough to hold a conversation, at least Mario did and the other guitarist. (sorry dont know his name)
They were both very humble.

Everyone is nice? In America? You sure you weren't on the other side of the world or something?
Americans aren't all assholes - only a few bad apples to make the whole bunch look shitty. The metal scene in America is way more friendly than you'd think.
+Charlie Kota Besides that, they are GOJIRA man. why would anyone act shitty with them.
seen both LOG and Gojira and must say they are both kickass live metal bands! FACT!

Randy reppin the Eyehategod hat. Bower Power!!!!
Agreed.
I've heard of Anorexia Nervosa; never heard of the other 2. I'll keep an eye out though. :) No Return were another good band, dunno if they're still around...
2020 anyone?
he talks about Trepalium (you may found some videos on youtube), Manimal, Scarve, Klone, Eths, Dagoba and Hacride. They're also talking about Ultravomit and Gronibard but it's a little bit different =P
Thank you for typing some of these out
2:32 is he saying "scarred"?
He said Scarve which was a awesome french band. The band has been disbanded for quite a bit, when the drummer Dirk Vanbeuren and guitarist Sylvain Coudret joined Soilwork. Dirk Vanbeuren recently joined Megadeth.
nice, Gojira pwn..... i really like the rythmic element to their music. i sence a lil Meshuggah in them, but i could be wrong lol
hah, i didnt know randy had a children of bodom tattoo, thats cool. i like it when members of bands appreciate their contemporaries, rather than just competing with them
