      I have watched at least a half dozen video of Elk being shot using 6.5. I think you are under gunned I am NOT criticizing you or anyone else. I honestly believe you need a minimum of a 160 grain bullet that has a minimum muzzle velocity of 2800 feet per second at the muzzle . You have to consider what would have happened if you guys were not in the open. It might have been a very long day.

    I’m not convinced the 6.5 cm is a great elk rifle. I have a couple and have killed 2 cow elk with one of them, but same results as you experienced. I only use my 300 wsm for elk now.

      @flattire4wd666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@josephchavez8280 definitely not the best round for Elk, but my wife and kids have had no issues with their 6.5 cm shooting 143gr eldx. The 6.5 is a great medium duty Cal that can perform on Elk if needed.

    • @josephchavez8280
      @josephchavez8280 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flat Tire 4wd I realize that. I’ve personally used it on elk in the past. I’ve just never had a 1 shot knock em dead as a door nail kill with it like I do with my 300 wsm or 300 wby. Elk are tough tough critters and I think people who make proper shots, the 6.5 will get the job done. I believe in all states the 26 caliber is legal for elk.

    Guys, you hunt your way and let anyone that wants to criticize you go kick rocks. Very few put on the miles you guys do in 10 seasons much less what you do in a year so.... I'll just leave it at that. I've hiked my butt off and not seen anything then seen animals from the road that I was able to get a shot at. anyone that says that they don't road hunt is not being truthful with themselves. If you can honestly say that you wouldn't kill a 320 or better bull if he was standing 100 yards off the road because that would be road hunting.... i say BS.... Keep up the great shows guys, I love the content and the story and the camera work is honestly, secondary..... God bless you and stay safe in the new year!

I personally love my 6.5, I dropped a 400 lbs black bear this year at 475 yards with 1 shot. I also happen to own a 270, a 7mm mag and a 300 win mag and I'll put the 6.5 up against any of them any day.

      Jody Basham I have guided big game for the last 15 years . And in the recent popularity of the 6.5 more and more hunters are using them to take there trophies .. I the last few years I’ve seen not one or too but safe to say over “100” kills just like this clip .. three four five or six shots to kill deer and elk and I’m sorry sir but I’m not a fan of the caliber at all .. each to there own but I would only shoot coyotes or prairie dogs with it.. it wounds to many animals regardless of bullet size or who is shooting it !

    Awesome videos keep up the great work. I want one of those sig rifles now. I have a 7mag and use 165 or 185 grain bullets.

    Great video series. I actually enjoyed this one the most from this season. All the buzz kill talk about caliber sizes is unnecessary if you prepare and can be lethal with whatever caliber or weapon for that matter, then do it!

    Yes, the rifle hunts are fun to watch as well. I have always been a rifle hunter too, but now I'm trying to learn with a bow. Thanks for your content!

    Loved the video. Living in Wyoming this is how I hunt every year. Work your butt off during archery and spend another month in the mountains with the rifle. Great Job!! Hope you guys will be in Salt Lake City again this Feb.

    Hey Trent, I'm with ya, you have to go to where the elk are in order to harvest one. Your platform has a big enough following now that I can't even imagine how many critics you have that choose to be negative-Nancy's and tell you what your doing wrong.....in their expert opinion ;-). I've been a follower of you guys for several years and am nothing but appreciative of your humbleness and honesty. Keep up the good work boys and god bless.

    You guys that are downing the 6.5 Creedmore, I have shot Elk right through he boiling room with a 300 Win Mag and still had them go 60 yards before going down. Elk are a big tough Animal and hard to knock right down.

    Great bulls Trent & Dirk! You mentioned people talking about the video quality, but I liked the way these hunts were filmed. It ties into how it all started for BRO. I myself prefer the hand held cameras & shots being off centered. "Professional cameraman" isn't something most of the people who film won't have. More isn't always better! Keep up the great work!!!

    I prefer the Archery hunts but i am a hunter and when i don't get em with my bow, I pick up the rifle and keep hunting. And anybody who has an issue of shooting an elk from near a road hasn't ever had the good fortune of finding one by the road because they would try to hunt it too. I totally dig the videos guys, just keep doing what you are doing and i will keep watching, i love hunting and when i cannot do it myself i may as well be watching someone else do it! Lastly, The Rando Goat Show was great... Randy did a great job and i bet he was an awesome person to have in camp. Just a grade A dude. Thanks for the show fellas!

    I really enjoyed watching this episode. Thanks so much for sharing what you do. I enjoy watching you guys hunt and live the lifestyle. I hunt with a bow, a rifle and a muzzleloader. I’m a hunter first. Choice of weapon is secondary and depends on opportunity. I have hunted with every weapon available for fifty years of my life and I love them all.
    You are absolutely right about taking advantage of the opportunity presented and adapting to the circumstances. No apologies needed.
    You are also right about how tough and tenacious of life an elk can be. They are almost supernatural in their ability to soak up punishment and keep going. I put three 200gr ELD-X into the chest cavity of an old bull out of my 300Wby last fall before he expired. Tough animals.
    Congrats. Keep doing what you do!

    Dirk “that escalated quickly” 😂 funny as hell! Goats are the real deal!! Quick question, did you leave the carcass in the water?

  • @mikewhite1626
    @mikewhite1626 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good stuff! Dirk is always a good addition to the films!!!
    Don’t mind all these “experts” saying that a 6.5 isn’t big enough to kill elk or even deer for that matter. Those same individuals probably sit to pee!!!
    How on earth did humans kill big game before firearms......?
