Sorry to hear that , I replaced the relays on my euro 5 with hela (German) relays duo to the one relay that controls the headlamp broke , so I just replaced them all with quality , I have done almost 10.000 km on it with no problems , it's been on off-road highway normal roads , well in rain cold (North Cape) it just chops along , .. late summer I will travel from Denmark to South Africa on it , .. I had a new BMW f850gs before that I sold due to way many failures , it was in the service center all the time ,.. so even BMW don't have good QC .. no bike no company are flawless , even Honda struggling with problems on the valve chims

I appreciate you sharing your experience with the motorcycle and service. I just purchased a 2022 Himalyan but due to cold winter weather here in the US, I've only been able to put 110 miles on it. So far, the motorcycle hasn't had any issues but I will keep in mind the issues you have raised. Hopefully I won't have any issues but it's good to know where to look if I do.
The exported bikes are better quality and would not face any issues as such

I am using himalayan BS6 2021 November. Covered 11.4k kilometres. Faced T stem oil leak & sounds, headlights not useful at night, over heating inside city ( chennai & bangalore ), abs hard to switch off & rusting issues on saddle stay. Other than that I love the bike even on road & off road. Best part is with full loaded vehicle we took Kollihills... It was amazing😍
@@Allwincy1 I seldom ride at night anymore, and when I do it's in lightly trafficked or rural areas at slow speeds. Hard to imagine the headlight won't be adequate but I'll have to try it sometime. Now I'm just waiting for winter to go away. I think the heat may be much higher where you are. Overheating hopefully won't be a problem here. I should try the ABS switching. I know setting the time was difficult. Those buttons aren't the most sensitive!

Just thought i would pass my experience on to you and your subscribers.
i was captivated by the reviews and simplicity of the RE Himalayan had a test ride on one last June and was really surprised. You can easily flat foot it and its road presence is larger than you think, it is under powered but we have a lot of country winding roads and a lot of easy green lanes near us.
Its no Honda but gives you more confidence on gravel roads because if you drop it you won’t damage anything its built like a tractor. I swapped My Honda for a 2022 second hand Himmy with all the bells and whistles metal panniers, engine Guards,.spot lights with only 147 miles on the clock. At 300 miles i decided to change the oil and filter as suggested in the service schedule made sure i took it easy for the first thousand miles. I went to north Wales with my two sons for a three day tour every time we stopped for a break or get petrol the bike would not start first or second time but would start eventually. After some research on you tube it was a faulty relay switch so i replaced them all and the problem was fixed. The first week in January on the first dry day i went for a spin, about three miles from home i was going uphill at 50mph and the engine just died it would turn over but not start so i let it cool down turn round and head down the hill to bump start it, It did go and got me home but was making a horrible rattling noise. I got in touch with royal enfield they picked it up and took it to the nearest dealer to me. They got in touch on Monday its got to have a top engine rebuild camshaft new barrell and piston total cost £895.00, so for a bike that is only 9 months old and covered 2000 miles is a lot of money. Royal enfield won’t cover the cost because i did the first oil and filter change thereby invalidating the two year warranty.
Foot note ... I passed my bike test in 1972 on a Honda S90 Sport and since then have had many bikes i am no mechanic but have always changed the oil and filter on my bikes at three or four thousand miles weather it needed it or not, in my mind i thought it would prolong the life of the bike. So to sum up if anybody is interested in a second hand R E Himmy, before you go ahead make sure it has got RE approved service history.

Could you please describe the rattling sound? I am having a terrible thin metallic slapping sound, that is NOT valve noise, that is irregular and it seems to come from the very top of the engine head. It is present only after the engine warms up after some distance has been travelled. I adjusted my valves 3 times already at a total of 8000km. Should I be worried?

Since your video there have been similar issues on the US based bikes. The ECU update seemed to have fixed the stalling issue. There are still other issues with various components on the bike. My bike has been great but I personally know people that have bad bikes like yours. Hopefully the 2023 models have better build quality.
I have a 2022 Himalayan. It has around 1000 kms since I got it, the only issue I had was the compass which has stopped working. The dealer replaced the whole instrumentation panel and now the compass is gone. RE through this dealer said the compass has been taken off the new panels and where the compass used to be is now the gear indicator. I’m unsure if this is true for all new Himalayans.

Ahh my friend has jawa 42 bro, he really didn't have any issues. Only thing is lack of service centres and cost of service is too costly:)
I agree to you brother my Scram 411 head got replaced at 3500km and 2 months it was in service station in 7 months ECU , wire harness and engine also failed

I think i too have same problem....my bike is not starting when engine gets heats up....after 20 to 30 mins when engine cools down the bike starts again...i gave it to 3 service center but they could not solve it....now i am not understanding what do .... still i have problem with my bike ...I purchased my bike on may 31 2021 i has been 10 months only...what to do with this bloody Himalayan...plsss plsss plsss help me..
I own a 2019 Himalayan never faced any major issues try apart from cone set issue which is like a pakka issue you will get in every Himalayan, but in Bs6 bike alot of people are complaining about the relay issue. They have tuned the ecu in Bs6 which made cruising at highe speed better but these kind of quality issues are really annoying.

Thanks for sharing the video, in the USA they refer to a vehicle that breaks down a lot as a lemon. You and I both seem to have lemons. My 2021 Himalayan had the speedometer vibrate apart at only 1,300km. Then the swing arm froze up at 1,600km. Then the left front directional broke off due to engine vibration. Then directly after that the bike began constantly stalling everywhere including in traffic, which as you said is frightening and dangerous. RE was unable to fix the constant stalling to this day and the bike has 13,600km. Then my steering head bearings went out at 9,000km and had to be replaced. Right now, my transmission suddenly became very difficult to get in and out of gear, and I was told that gear cogs will likely need to be replaced within the transmission. Transmission rebuild at 13,600km? That's insane. I have never had this many problems in all the bikes I have owned combined over 40 plus years of riding. And this bike pretty much stays in a broken state, having problems developing on top of problems. It has never been running 100% since the day I bought it. And these problems are from street use, I have never really taken it off road. That is what we call a lemon, which is a very sour experience. I am thinking of selling it if I can ever get it fixed. So far I have never been able to fix it long enough to sell it. But if I do, I plan on buying a 250 V-Strom. Pretty much the same or better performance on freeways, better economy, and much better reliability which means I can ride again without fearing daily breakdowns. I like the Himmy when it runs, but a bike is about reliable transportation. If a bike or car is not reliable and is a one way vehicle, (having to be brought home on a trailer) then it is not worth keeping.
Not a single problem here for the first 10k, except start up when parked overnight below -5°C…Assembly and QC was done in Austria (at least for my part of Europe) and haven’t faved much issues. Changed the og battery for a japanese one and no problems whatsoever. Indian QC needs regulations that’s all.
I'm in Australia, and have been considering buying a RE, BUT, what has me worried, is that most of the used one's advertised, have done less than 10,000 kilometres! That suggests that either the bikes aren't what the sellers had hoped for, or there may be quality issues with the brand.

I am so sorry you have had such a negative experience. I have a 2021 Himalayan. I replaced the relay after I heard of some of these problems. I also had to replace a defective temperature sensor. Recently the gear position indicator has quit. I have 14,000 km on my bike currently. I live in Canada. I am a little nervous because I often travel alone to very remote areas. I carry a GPS communicator; however, it could be a long time and very expensive, if I have to be rescued.

This is true. I am himalayan owner 2017 model. The ground reality is pathetic. I am facing too many problems since 2019 and even changed entire gear assembly and crank case.

The first issue of the bike not starting is a common one it is the relay. You cannot hear the fuel pump. Why was this clip so long?
I have exactly the same problem, I bought it in 2022 and since winter here in Norway the motorcycle goes and comes from the workshop because it doesn't start.
As a himalayan veriyan, i feel bad about it.. How is it now bro, are the services improved or worsened? Planning to buy either meteor or himalayan.. My professor also has himalayan bs6 2021 and he had the same engine dead issue on a trip to Trichy, but solved in 6-7 days at the service center. Now i am having TVS XL100 (yupppp) sharing with my 58 y/o dad. Mileage is pretty inconsistent i must say, ranging from 35 to 57 km/l within the span of 7 months(eppo gaali aagum ne guess panrathu kastam because it doesn't have fuel readings, just reserve indicator). Apart from its bad image, it is 'good' two wheeler i have ever ridden (just good, not best😅). But suspension is seriously good, better than I expected.

i got mine mid of 2021 and it has now around 7000km on it... Issues so far: dashboard had water in it .. was replace new one had a bit less water now. Engine stall mid rider ... i replace the fuel pumpe relay, so far it works. what makes me nervous is the oil consumption on my bike. after around 400km i have to fill up to get at least to min. beside that i love that tractor. greetings from germany.

I am having similar issues with my back it was the 12 th month if my purchase, they told me its the fuel pump which needed to be replaced.. and i will have to wait for 2 months to avail the warranty..
Bought Himalayan in 12 Sept 2018, except for chassis crack on the second year after purchase which RE replaced it for free.
Cone bearing gets changed after every 3-4 months. Wearable like clutch cables, front wheel rims changes twice, but engine and its parts not changed even once. 45,000 km only in Odeometer.
The bike is absolutely working well.

I can feel the pain bro , same issues bro , 6months bike fuel pump gone fuel relays gone battery dead . Stalling issues rpm use to drop just frustrated with this Royal Enfield product never expected this quality . Even ball racers gone in a week of purchase .

My friend have bs4 2019 model. He has not even ridden 6k km and he already have changed battery, cone set. And even after changing these, it wouldn't start sometimes and there is always a noise coming from below handle bar. He is so pissed off that nowadays he won't even ride. Now rusting has started already standing in parking lot.. He tried to sell but nobody wants to buy.
That is a seriously concern, thanks for the heads up. I just purchased the new Himalayan and have stalling issues from day one. Engine cuts out at low rpm and in gear as well. Plus the speedometer mists up so you cannot see the speed or digital information. The bike is great otherwise. RE haven't acknowledged the enginestalling as a known fault but have issued a fix.
One question off this topic - can I ask what the make of hand guards you have on your Himalayan?

There are battery issues that I am facing. My Himalayan is 15 months old, and the fuel pump had a manufacturing defect. It took RE service centre almost 10 days to find the problem. They replaced the fuel pump under warranty. Now I am facing battery issues. Sometimes I really doubt ; one should really spend 1-2 lacs and go for KTM 390 Adv or Honda 500X

For the last few years the RE quality has reduced alot... rather it's with all manufacturers....it is common now that u purchase a product n after that u need to chase customer care n dealers.. n fact is they will always try to repair it not replace it.....as a buyer we will certainly think that when we are purchasing new product then why we shud get repaired... Otherwise better we buy used items..
Brother.. this is like my story.. I purchased my himalayan on 21st feb 2021. I had this following issue.
1. Malfunction indication lamp was glowing continuesly
2.Bike not started
3.Bike got stall and off while 100 kmph
4.O2 sensor changed
5.Relay changed
6.wiring harness changed
Now all issue solved.. but engine tappet noise is coming. I donno wer it will go..

I feel your pain... I love my Himalayan but a few weeks ago, after a 1 hour morning journey, I started the engine to go home and had terrible trouble starting, it would not idle and I had to keep the revs high until the engine was hot, then the engine was good, it happened again the next morning but in the afternoons it would not start again with no indication as to why. I replaced the spark plug as there was no spark with with the original with and no success with new plug, so the bike was recovered to my home. The next morning my mechanic started the bike OK but with an engine management fault. When he got it to the shop it had no spark again. After checking the EMS he found there was a throttle position sensor problem. RE will only supply the complete throttle housing and not just the sensor, so look at several hundred US$ for this. My mechanic tells me that Japanese bike producers can supply the throttle position sensor alone.
If RE want to destroy their brand and reputation, it appears they are doing it; same with the cheap relays which also cause a problem.
My bike has always started first time regardless of the temperature and weather. Now I am unable to trust it for now. It is a 2020 version.
Are RE saving money with cheap Chinese parts?

I am also owning the same model Himalayan ( Mirage silver) I was also facing the same same issue which bro was facing till now . Today there is no problems that I have faced in my early days i have made a complaint to the royal Enfield plant and they given me a warranty claim for the part which was making my bike these problems ( the problem which have faced in my bike was in the relay - the male port and the female port both of the parts were complaint and these were manufacturing defect today I am happy and my bike is safe and perfectly ok
I feel very sad for your experience with your himalayan 2021. I own a 2021 himalayan too and i have driven 13000 kms till date and have faced no big issues. I had a 1500 kms ride after just 2000 kms and i faced no issues at all. I do feel royal enfield must have a strict quality check for every motorcycle they deliver. Again i still feel very bad for you for such a bad experience. I hope you get your bike replaced as well

RE service center don’t really care to actually solve issue unless you escalate. i think it’s because their business is good with so many bikes being serviced. RE should investigate and bring better processes at service center level

Ture I agree I am getting bombarded with folk issue of RE Himalayan / I went to service center they ask to change cone set, hand bar inside few other items of bike after changing everything new in bike paying 7k...I had the same issue I took to same service center more than 4 times , they fix after 2 weeks same folk issue gets repeated wittern mails to RE no use still having the same problem no value for money ...
it happen same ive clean tank it had some issue by some sand on it and also removed clean tank it did same they did update on ecu
than work agian on3rd service they did ecu update and now bike feels under power also had relay changes

bro I'm facing the same issue of bike stalling & auto off issue even on high speeds & RE service center is unable to fix the issue, someone suggested to use ROOTS brand relay instead of stock, i don't know what to do ... should i change or not....!!!!
Now service centres and changing a new 4 pin relay bro, first do it. If you have done it and still the problem persists, then try third party relays:)

@@rm7244 bro, there is no difference between the RE latest 4 pin relay and the roots relay, the RE 4 pin relays are slightly better than the roots brand...I tried on my Himalayan 2021, but still I am facing power lag issue on low RPM...

My Himalayan is from 24-April-2021. I have faced all sort of relay and fuel pump issues...
But what you had faced about the engine in the middle of a ride is just too much..
Hope RE takes care of these issue by not harassing the owner who are facing issues in the bikes and fixing the problem propely and quickly under warranty....

I own RE Classic 350 drove almost 50k km but haven't faces any major yet and recently got my Himalayan granite black and i drove more than 340km in first day of delivery but i haven't faced any issues yet.

Great u didnt bow down.. but the thing is your relay issue is a known problem among himalayan community and u did a mistake relying on the service center to fix it for you, they would just replace the same quality relay, instead the real problem is the grease they use on the connectors for relay which comes loose during the ride, u could have just cleaned the relay ports and use better quality relays.
Owning an himalayan is not for faint of hearts, people without any mechanical knowledge of servicing a bike will have a frustrating time with it.
Got my bike few days ago, and on the 130km trip back home I started to notice that it wouldn't start right away. I first tought it was an issue with bein in gear and not in neutral, but after I got home and wanted to start the bike - it wouldn't work. Every fifth try it would start.
I contacted the dealer and they sent me a replacement relay, and after that the problem was fixed. The anoying thing was that I asked the dealer about this problem before buying the motorcycle, and they told me that they only came across the issue once in all the bikes they sold, and that they replace the relays as soon as the bike comes as a preventitive measure. It seems not on my bike.
I hope this was the only issue and that I will not have any fuel pump or something that happened to you.

Majority of horror stories are from the Bs3 batches.

Yours is the broken valve and head issue but in my case it was ABS issue for which they took 30 days and the bike was in service centre just to replace even when the bike 2019 model and was under extended warranty for 5 years even though the bike was 2 years old not much drivng due to covid and now i am facing the issue again the bike is nt starting and they told it was a relay problem and have cleaned and fixed the relay which connections were loose have to wait now again for facing the problem
Single cylinder thumpers need to have there valves checked often less you have hard starts and run risk of damaging valves, rods and the head. I suspect the valves where not properly set at the factory and some dealers either made assumptions they where fine because the bike being newer or where just to lazy or incompetent to check. The relay has been a known issue for awhile and it concerns me that they are so slow to address it. Royal Enfields initial response to your situation is disturbing. I was going to trade in my Honda and buy a RE Himalayan in about a month but I live about 90miles from the nearest dealer and I am not interested in a companies product if they don’t stand by it. I am a small engine mechanic but that doesn’t mean I want to fit the repair bills and be constantly working on a new bike that I should be riding. Have you heard of any issues with the 2022’s yet. I would hope they at least rectified the relay issue.

Bro, I have already seen your post on Facebook about your bike issues, it's a big shame for RE
I also have Himalayan 2021 but I think 4pin relay is pre-fitted on it so I haven't faced any stalling and starting issue till date but I am facing few issues since from day one of purchase
1. Bike runs smooth till 5 kms but after that it's starts giving power lag / jerk kind of issue only @ lower RPM in between 1.7k to 2.9k . I can feel it more while maintaining a constant speed @ low rpm level.. this happens only after engine get heated
2. After raiding 10 to 15 kms engine produces some tik tik sound in idel and it's increases whenever I move the bike in first gear slowly buy using the clutch lever and the sound goes away completely as soon as I release the clutch and rpm raises this happens only after engine get heated
3. I can hear some small rattling sound.. little more on 3 rd gear and less on top gears while twisting the throttle on highways this also occurs when the engine get heated
All above 3 problem Occurs only when the engine is hot .. but in warm / cold condition the problem goes away...
Don't know what to do, visited 2 different service centers but they are not ready to take my complaint..

@@x-hacker-2648 try using " Shell V Power" petrol...keep refilling tank 3 to 4 times you will get some good improvement.
I have heard this from couple of fellow riders too, one of the rider from my group said that valves got bent due to backflow in manifold and they held his motorcycle in service center for almost 20 days and they got valve head assembly replaced. I bought Himalayan recently and I noticed a strange vibration especially between speeds 55-60 KMPH during which a rattling sound similar to tappet noise. However there are no vibrations till 100 KMPH. I have asked RE technicians to check but they say everything is fine, I am having patience and will only get to know the engine performance when I clock 10,000 Kms on motorcycle as I cannot comment at the moment since it's too early to judge!
As you said not all Himalayan owners are facing this issue, let's see how it goes for me. But I hope your motorcycle issues are resolved.

I am also facing the same issue after the first service and its been 1.5 years and multiple runs to the service centre, still no F*ing solution . pathetic service from RE.
I have a 2021 model, same as the BS4 as we don't have the emissions requirements. 10,000 kms, first oil change at 500 km, second at 2000, 3rd at 5000, just done the 4th now at 10,000 kms. No issues whatsoever apart from a dead battery at 7 months old, but was expecting that.

bh4 doesn't have any problem i rode more than 1800 km in 6 days no issue arise.. only bh6 got problems
I was thinking to buy Himalaya or interceptor but now I changed my dicision I will buy yezdi adventure it will be better.
Going with gs310 is far better option, that's a different thing that maintainanc and price is high. But BMW have great quality and customer service. Plus they offer RSA at very genuine price which covers all india. Means if God forbid bike breaks down during long trips , free of cost your vehicle will be delivered to nearest service center + your cab fare to the nearest city.
I also own Himalayan bs6 for everything is working so well so for. May be few bikes has got problems but not all the Himalayan bikes.

You should write to the company with legal notice and seek Stop sale against RE from the court's and till the company certifies in testing that this issue will never arise the court's should be asked for this order 🙏

Never go to the RE ASC. All RE "technicians" are clerks. They only know the formula. If anything is beyond that formula, they will simply lift their hands. So it is always recommended to have a local skilled bike mechanic as a friend. Like in your case, problem probably was not significant, but detection was not easy.

I have Himalayan ba6 2020 model after riding 9000kms many types of noises are coming from engine I visited nearby service centre they just saying it’s a normal sound actually they didn’t able to diagnose noise…..

I was really thinking to get himalyan over yezdi adventure. But I was concerned about the after sales of yezdi. Now even after getting himlayan if after sales is so pathetic, i am not sure what to get 😅.

Dear I am a 2020 BS-VI (6) owner. The problem you are facing of faulty battery. Get it replaced under warranty.I also got my battery replaced in 2021 November although I bought bike in Jan End 2020. I got everything coil, relay, wiring, starter, plug checked. Finally it was traced that the battery from Amaron was creating issues because all BS-VI bikes are sensor loaded Ecu bikes & due to low recharging (due to inherent problem in battery) was why I was having this problem .

By production this batteries grade are degraded purposefully. So that it lives till 1-yr perfectly.
I own Royal Enfield Thunderbird 2013 Model, it's been 9 years now, i would have spent four times the cost of bike as a maintenance and spare parts replacement. Now thinking w hy shouldn't i bought premium adventures bikes like Triumph Tiger / KTM 390 adventure / BMW G 310 GS / Honda CB 500X / Honda Twin Africa etc. I personally feel that royal Enfield is making more money through services and spare parts replacement. So those who are planning to buy new bike, compare the maintenance cost of various bikes. It seems to be a pride to own royal Enfield, but in reality it doesn't seems to be an reliable companion ☹️
