Ever since first Tokaido Shikansen route was completed just before 1964 Tokyo Olympic, many other nation looked upon Japan's safety standard. To this date, Japan's Shinkansen is the safest in the world, compared to like China, as no major derailment at all. I would love to see that experimental over 600Km/hr. (world's fastest) Maglev train will complete commercial route soon and I am sure that will set a brand new safety standards for all the others to copy.
I don't understand why you have to look down to China to make Japan look great. We all admire Japan's achievement on high speed trains, but please get informed about the accident of Amagasaki derailment, although it was not the bullet train, no one is perfect. China was tortured in 1912 to 1978 by English, Japanese, and Cultural revolution meanwhile Japan had its best years.
In Europe there were a few high speed rail crash . Up to now, China has 40,000km HSR compared to 3,500 km for Japan. The accumulated passenger ridership and commercial mileage for China already exceeded that of Japan. It is not exaggerated to say China have more experience and talents than Japan in HSR. Comparing Japan and China on number of crash is like comparing AIR NEPAL to any other Major Airline and say Air Nepal had never known any air crash

I lived in Japan for 9 years. It is @ss. It is probably best for you if you do a Google search, as moving from Canada => Japan for say is a very stupid choice.
There may be many high-speed trains in the world, including copycats (hear me China) but the Shinkansen is still the measuring.stick in efficiency and safety record.

Love the JRpass I went to Hokkaio on porpoise to ride on the Hayabusa best train ever. I traveled on most HS railways around the world Hayabusa still holds the crown since 2014
They're very fast. You can hear the sound and feel the wind speed they generate. It's faster in real life than on camera. I only took a short ride back to Tokyo from Yokohama in 2019 in the N700. It was 10 minutes vs 40 by regular train.
what do you mean by approximately how did you know the speed of every single train? did you used any laser gun for that or you just completely relying on guesses

新幹線の運転手はマジで大変。JRに入社して駅員2,3年経験後車掌も2,3年経験、そして在来線の運転手になり5,6年運転する。その後新幹線運転手免許試験勉強。合格後体の審査?合格後、見習いとして先輩とともに1年ほど運転、それが終わってやっと一人前の運転手
