@@lunarhere Have you ever wondered why there is no footage of China's maglev train running at 620km/h like Japan's? because it doesn't exist. What China announced was a test vehicle designed to run at a speed of 620km/h. The fact is that even the necessary 50km test track does not yet exist. This is about the progress of the 1980s in the history of Japanese development.
Few extra info for those interested... The L0 was announced and began testing back in 2012-2013, with this maximum speed of 500km/h being reached already back in 2013. Since then it has gone through repeated endurance and speed tests, reaching the record high of 603km/h back in 2015. It has gone back and forth between public rides and testing, and one major upgrade from L0 Series to Improved L0 series. Construction for the actual first commercial available to the public line which will go from Tokyo to Nagoya and then extended to Osaka has been going on since 2014. The first section up to Nagoya is planned to be finished by 2027, and originally the extension to Osaka would require a pause for JR to recover from extensive costs and planned to be finished by 2045, but because of a Japanese government injection of funds, it's now planned to be ready by 2037. Let me tell you that being a single child from parents who moved to a different state away from our extended family, having once or twice a year trips - every single year since I was a kid - by car or bus that takes 16 to 19 hours because of horrible road conditions, every single X-mas/new years' period which is right in the middle of extremely hot and humid summer down here... life would have been substantially different if we could just take a comfortable Shinkansen ride every year to visit relatives instead. xD I'd likely go more towards enjoying and actually anticipating the visits rather than being overcome with dread and anxiety when the date approaches, not only because of the expectation of enduring the long trip, but also the fear of accidents and problems happening during it, which we have far too many to count already. And then, now that I'm living cross state from my mom, who is at a pretty advanced age and with a few health issues and limitations but still doesn't wanna move in with me (nor I want to move back), if we had a reliable and fast method of transportation between our cities that would certainly solve a whole ton of problems. This coming from a single person experience, there are so so many more problems that are solved and opportunities that are opened with an advanced transportation system like this that the price tag feels very much justified. The benefits for an entire population are too many to count. In my head I'm talking more about the entire metro and subway system in Japan I guess, not only the Maglev Shinkansen... but it's all connected, right? xD Anyways, thanks for sharing! I had been very curious about how the maglev tests had been going, and it's super interesting to see it first hand like this instead of only articles and official material... xD

This train is pretty great. One thing it's lacking when riding is that you don't have the experience of flying across the countryside like the TGV. This train line will mostly be in tunnels. That's 110% great. It's meant to move people fast not not be an experience.

"Or in 5yo terms, big magnets push and pull to make train fly" "...finally putting Japan's aging population at the economic forefront" I laughed so hard. Thank you Solo Solo Travel, your sense of humor sets your channel apart from most other travel channels, and I really enjoy it.
Electromagnets. China just unveiled a hanging train that can carry 88 passengers and currently travels at about 50 mph using only rare Earth but real magnets primarily requiring very little power to operate while this high-speed machine relies primarily on high current and perhaps superconducting magnetic technology that requires a lot of power throughout the duration of travel. Hopefully there will never be an accident at speed. How quickly can it stop as a 9.0 plus earthquake strikes is part of its design. No sleeping on this train as it gets you there before you can close your eyes. Will solar panels eventually enwrap the railroad right away ultimately to make this a green train that sells power to the grid rather than consumes it? When it gets to that point it'll be perfect and subsidized by The electric company through wholesale sales while offering lower rates to customers on both sides? I hope they have vision with clarity and success.
They work their youngsters 12 hours a day 6 days a week, even if 4 of those 12 hours are just whiled away doing nothing (literally - you can't go home until the clock strikes 9 even if you finished all your work for the day 3 hours ago). No wonder their population is aging.
@@zAlaska Even if you use natural magnets rather than electromagnets, the natural magnets will eventually get weaker as the internal structure changes due to the resistance offered from the outside. There are no free lunches. BTW, do you know strong electromagnets are used to manufacture modern magnets in the factory? In other words, the opposite procedure to that is exactly what is used to *make* magnets.
I hope Solo goes on the Sunrise train when it rains. Like... Thunder storm rain. A peaceful overnight train ride with rain outside?! That would be heaven!

in end 2016 i rode on the fastest currently operational maglev in Shanghai, and that train was crazy loud and absolutely terrifying when passing by another maglev running at the top speed of 400-ish km/h. Compared to that maglev this maglev is so quiet and unbelievable. truly japan makes amazing technology. edit: hello fellas, all this post is saying is that the shanghai maglev was far noisier than the L0. fast train is fast and go brrrrr edit edit: to clarify, the ride is only momentarily scary when the maglev traveling in the opposite direction passes by with a combined relative speed of >800km/h, which for context would be like getting buzzed by a cruising-speed commercial jet whilst standing still. the rattling in that passing-by is very loud
I’ve been on the Shanghai maglev as well. Do have to remember though that the Shanghai one is a lot older than these trains in Japan so I’m guessing things have improved by a lot between the construction of the one in Shanghai and the one in Japan. I rode at 431km/h on the Shanghai one when I rode it in early 2007, amazing experience imo
th-cam.com/video/kmnNqU4mf2Y/w-d-xo.html Anyway you can feel the SCMaglev ride better in this video, a bit shaky and louder than Shinkansen but I think because the air friction at 500kmph and maybe the gas generator from the older back locomotive that still not replaced by newer one model (the front one) that has wireless power collection.
Maglev - so these trains don't even touch the rails, right, they just ride on a cushion of air? Wow, absolutely mind blowing! Why this isn't a "thing" the world over as far as mass transit will forever boggle my mind. In many areas, this would be a fantastic way to travel! Japan has much to be proud of, and not only for their great train systems, but so many other things as well. Bravo!
I really enjoyed the sheer geekery of this. Not just the train itself, but the palpable excitement of the passengers, and the World's Fair-like displays of how the technology works. Hopefully someday I'll get to experience it for myself!
Saya mengakui jepang memang satu2nya di dunia yg memiliki teknologi maju untuk kereta api , juga salah satu negara terbersih yang pernah saya kunjungi ... saya harap negara lain bisa contoh jepang untuk berbagai aspek

@@allentoyokawa9068 lol why the fuck would you say no? China is also a beast in trains, right now, they're maglev trains are neck to neck with the Japanese, going 600 km/h as well. Also, many foreign train tech is built by China. There a re various examples in Africa where China built the rail way systems for them. China's high speed railway network spans 37.900 km, Japan for example only has 2,664. this train is really incredible! personally i think it will still evolve park that 603 Km/h is only 29Km/h more than the old speed records made by us the french with our TGV in 2007. i really think when 2027 the Maglev will make much more (800-850 Km/h) and it will create a new means of transport in the world a kind of hybrid between the train and the plane.
As a journalist working overseas, I was one of the few lucky ones to board the maglev between Tokyo and Nagoya. It's quiet and stable, and when I closed my eyes, I really could forget that I was moving at 500km per hour.

Nice that Japan keeps up. The german maglev _Transrapid_ is connecting Shanghai airport and exhibition centre for almost the quarter of a century (since 2002). The Transrapid can go 500 kmh or more easily. Just not in Shanghai, because the connection is only 30 km long and the top speed is therefore limited to 430 kmh. China bought the patent rights and is developing its own maglev based on the Transrapid. I'm pretty sure, that the chinese will already have a maglev red based on that technology before the first connection in Japan gets finished. The german train uses a different technology to levitate, so there is no need for energy consuming superconductors or wheels for speeds under 150 kmh. The Transrapid levitates from the start. You can go and test ride it any time you'd want to, since it is on duty and open to the public every single day of the year.
@@user-uzg9hea2rs you can't remember that, because it's not true. The accident happened because of a maintenance vehicle which was on the track and wasn't connected to the operation monitoring. This vehicle had an Diesel engine. The accident wouldn't have happened with a _linear motor car,_ because it isn't possible.
I’ve been on the maglev train in Shanghai and traveled at 431km/h on that one, it was an incredible experience! This was in early 2007 (went on the maglev again in 2010 but then only at some 300km/h because of what time of day it was) It’s definitely a type of train I can highly recommend trying, if you happen to be somewhere that has them. Such a cool train and smooth way to travel
Since Japan is an earthquake-prone country, China’s Maglev is dangerous because it floats from the ground for only 5centimeters. While Japan’s Maglev is 10 centimeters that’s why it took decades for experiments.
Hello Solo Solo Travel. I noticed you mentioned Elon Musk's hyperloop towards the end of this video. I am an American, and I recently read that Musk admitted in private that the project was just meant to inhibit the California high speed rail project. America is fully committed to automobiles, and both the government and private companies are conspiring the keep things that way. I, of course, think this is a shame. I appreciate your videos, thank you for sharing
imagine if politics actually started getting their shit together but the fact that America voted Trump and then fucking Joe Biden. Trump being smart but overly confident and Joe Biden just being an old fart that has no idea about economics idk how America managed to fuck up so hard during voting. The red flags were there all along
Actually truth the vacuum of hyper loop is deem unsafe one fail part it put whole system in danger and amount of pressure will kill every one in the loop.. this what he meant and it's true and reason the hyperloop stoped and sold..
America is absolute shite when it comes to public transport compared to Europe, Japan, Australia and all the first world countries. And you're right it's a country fully commited to cars.
Nice one. And we Germans did not only sell our Transrapid to China, no, we also reduce the speed of the great new ICE4 to only 250kph (ICE3 300kph), because... you can´t go faster on our worn out track network

If any other country in the world was trying to do a trainline this fast, I would laugh, but, having rode on the Japan Rail Shinkansen many times, I am just looking forward to when I can go and take a trip from Tokyo to Osaka on this the completed, ultra high speed line. I am very curious if they will be able to scale up the size of the trains on the Maglev line as, presently, these trains hold like less than half of the regular Shinkansen trains.
China's high-speed railway network is by far the longest in the world, and it is the most extensively used network. As of the end of 2023, it extends to 31 of the country's 33 provincial-level administrative divisions and with total length of of 45,000 kilometres (28,000 mi) by the end of 2023., accounting for about two-thirds of the world's high-speed rail tracks in commercial service, with a design speed of 200 - 380 km/h. These are facts...

It's just amazing to see how far we've come in the development of rail networks to even have full-fledged maglevs at terrific speeds! This train is pretty great. One thing it's lacking when riding is that you don't have the experience of flying across the countryside like the TGV. This train line will mostly be in tunnels. That's 110% great. It's meant to move people fast not not be an experience.

Such a marvelous piece of engineering. I love Japan ❤🤍
in end 2016 i rode on the fastest currently operational maglev in Shanghai, and that train was crazy loud and absolutely terrifying when passing by another maglev running at the top speed of 400-ish km/h. Compared to that maglev this maglev is so quiet and unbelievable. truly japan makes amazing technology.
edit: hello fellas, all this post is saying is that the shanghai maglev was far noisier than the L0. fast train is fast and go brrrrr
edit edit: to clarify, the ride is only momentarily scary when the maglev traveling in the opposite direction passes by with a combined relative speed of >800km/h, which for context would be like getting buzzed by a cruising-speed commercial jet whilst standing still. the rattling in that passing-by is very loud

I have traveled in Shanghai maglev at 435 kph. This will be the new benchmark. Added to my bucket list 😃
I remember the fatal accident caused by a German linear motor car. 23 people died and 10 people were seriously injured 😢
@@user-uzg9hea2rs you can't remember that, because it's not true. The accident happened because of a maintenance vehicle which was on the track and wasn't connected to the operation monitoring. Such a cool train and smooth way to travel
Since Japan is an earthquake-prone country, China’s Maglev is dangerous because it floats from the ground for only 5centimeters. While Japan’s Maglev is 10 centimeters that’s why it took decades for experiments.

I am very curious if they will be able to scale up the size of the trains on the Maglev line as, presently, these trains hold like less than half of the regular Shinkansen trains.
China has a train that reached 600 KM / H between Shanghai and Beijing .. Do laugh to fast
@@varadero5337is perfectly safe though?
China's high-speed railway network is by far the longest in the world, and it is the most extensively used network. As of the end of 2023, it extends to 31 of the country's 33 provincial-level administrative divisions and with total length of of 45,000 kilometres (28,000 mi) by the end of 2023., accounting for about two-thirds of the world's high-speed rail tracks in commercial service, with a design speed of 200 - 380 km/h. These are facts...
That is truly amazing! Did you feel dizzy or unsteady on your feet at the end of the ride? The interior of the train looks very cool. You are right, Japan is so far ahead of American standards. If we had that train here, people would be lining up to toss other people in front of it!
No dizziness you should feel like ur not even moving inside
Why? Do you feel like that after a flight on an airplane?
@@johnp139 Actually, yes
America needs a transportation system that is like Japans, we won’t get one though. But this is great work and the train is beautiful
AMTRAK will NEVER have a train like that. We are stuck in the 50's when it comes to trains in the USA.
Came here for the train, stayed for the hilarious humor. Seriously though, another great feat of invention shown in all it's glory. All Hail Maglev!
I did the TGV in France, but this is next level.
You are so kawaii riding that small maglev. Haha!. Hoping to ride Maglev in the coming years! For now, I need to save money to ride the Shinkansen. 😁
‘Finally putting Japan’s aging population at the economic forefront’. And that is why I watch your channel. Lolol
