@bandomom6350 I sometimes get a small amount of shrinking on some styles or wraps, so it might sometimes just be the wrap itself. @@Beloved367 I hope it helps. Sometimes bubbles will happen if the wrap hasn't stuck to the nail completely, so using a cuticle pusher to smooth it out helps. Oooo I have used these before too, i like them, they are cheap and last about 10 days or so on me. i'm not as good at applying them but this might help.
Absolutely yes. The thin clear plastic cover should be removed. Most will have this, sometimes it doesn't, or one section might have missed it or have it fall off though. However if it's there remove this on the wraps you intend to use before doing anything else.
I'm glad it helped. I've not tried a cured base or top coat before. I have heard some people have with a top coat, but I haven't tried myself. It might be worth a try, maybe do one or two fingers first as a test.
Really helpful tutorial- thank you. I clearly have ultra large hands because even the biggest wrap is too narrow to cover the whole of my thumb nail! Can the wraps be overlapped to fill the gaps ?
I've had that happen before too, on my thumb and when I use the nail wraps on my toes. If it's just a little gap, you can sometimes gently stretch the wraps to fit. If the gap is bigger though you can try to turn the wrap on its side (but this will only work on short nails). Another option is layering. I've cut two wraps and lined them up on my nail to fit. You will use more wraps this way but you use the wraps and trim them to make one larger wrap. They can overlap each other but you can see the seam. If you want to get crafty you can add a line of striping tape or cut out a contrasting wrap in a stripe and place it over the seam like its meant to be there. I've used that technique to blend two different leftovers wrap patterns in a manicure before.
thanks for the informative video. Going to try my lily and fox tomorrow on nails. hope there ok beacuse im a cna and always washing my hands constantly
Love the video!! When you have short nails and use half for one set, how do you use the other half?? Do you just cut the shape of the one end since it's not precut? Thanks again!!
Put your wraps on before going to bed, making sure your not wetting your hands or nails. When you get up in the morning you can then safely add a clear top coat. Remember to do the tips of your nails to ensure a tight seal so no water can get under the wraps.
Hi! This video was so helpful, thank you so much! The problem I am having is that even after filing the extra wrap off the way you have suggested, the edge looks uneven and some nail shows through. Any advice?
@hope00012 thank you!. Sometimes I get that too. I find if I use a glass file or really fine nail file it helps, the rougher nail files can cause the wrap to break back a little. It can also be worth trying a different angle when you file them off. I have really thin nails so I angle my file this way, but if you have thicker nails angling the tile more towards the finger tip might help, that way the wrap gets torn/filed at the edge of your nail.
I've never tried that myself, but I have heard some people have done it before with gel uv polish. I'm just not 100% sure how it would turn out. If you try it though I'd love to hear how it goes.
Thank you for the excellent tutorial! My question is since you used the gel topcoat, is there anything special you need to do to remove the wraps? Does just nail polish remover work with the gel topcoat?
This is more like a 'gel look' top coat it doesn't need uv or anything to cure. So nail polish remover works fine. I also have a video about how to remove the nail wraps as there are several ways you can do it. The link is in the description of this video.
This video was so helpful to me when I applied my first Lily and Fox nail wraps. So far they have lasted 10 days! I have a question as I am getting ready to try my next set, if you want to apply the wraps on a nail polish colour will they stick or do you need to apply a base coat on top of the colour? I am thinking of the transparent wraps and wanting a colour underneath. Do you happen to know if Nail Envy or Sally's Hard as nails would be okay underneath or would they not likely stick well to it? Thanks!
I've tried the original Nail Envy under wraps and it works okay, but there is another one with an orange text that was too shiny and wasn't ideal. You can apply them over a nail polish, just make sure the polish is completely dry first though. In some cases it might make the wrap not last quite as long, but you should be fine. You can also double wrap, so you use a block colour or single colour wrap under the transparent wrap. It can get a little thick though, but it does work.
I follow these steps already but am going to try with th top coat you use. The biggest problem I have is with a slight edge at the base that catches in my hair. I've tried filing it slightly but was also seeing if you've had a similar issue and how do you handle it?
@TheShriver5 I do ger this sometimes. Mainly with the thicker wraps. Sometimes it helps to have a thicker consistency top coat, I've also had to apply several coats of top coat, letting it dry between coats, just to fill in that ledge. I notice it mainly when I wash my hair and it gets caught. In some cases I just wear gloves when I wash my hair, not ideal but it helps.
I don’t put a base coat on first, because nail polish tends to destroy my nails. That’s why I use wraps. They still last about a week, which is a long time for me.
Dammit! I wish I would’ve found your video before I purchased a bunch of Jamberry ones! I just looked up the Lily and Fox brand and they are so much cuter, more reasonable and easier to apply. Thank you for the great video! I love the design you’re working with here! 💕
I sometimes get small ridges up my nail, but I've not got much experience with larger ridges. I normally will use a filling base coat. They can be called ridge fillers. Then, apply the wraps as normal. It's not perfect, but it can help. You mainly want to make sure you seal the wrap so nothing gets under it. So when you apply the top coat make sure to cap the top of the nail and seal the wrap near the cuticle.
ASMR is probably easiest to be described as a genre of videos that help people relax or sleep. Think like a person speaking softly and calmly. Sometimes it's just relaxing noises. There's more to it for some people and everyone enjoys different types of ASMR videos.
@@WinterRose84 Good to know~ thank you. I tend to turn on instrumental gospel or Spanish guitar playlists, also cello music. Such pretty hands you have~ wow🌼 I've made a commitment this year to be kinder to my hands & nails, now that I'm retired & actually have some free time! Now that's an interesting bit ~ you're the first I've heard suggest using a base coat. Granted, I've only watched a handful of tutorials, but they all say to apply wraps to clean, dry nail beds. My question for you is if have tried them without the base coat, & what the differences are, in your experience? Thanks, in advance~ Sammy
I have used no base coat and it does work. I've got really oily nails though so a base coat actually helps regulate that somewhat. I also find that it kelps protect my nails when I'm removing them, I've got very brittle peely type nails already so I like to use treatment base coats like OPI nail envy.
@@WinterRose84 Oh~ good to know, as I have same type of nails. Do you prefer the OPI Nail Envy to the Holo Taco then, or are either equally good, in your opinion? (If & when you have time for yet another question, then I'll hush...=)
Hi I’m new to nail wraps and have used two colors from Lily and Fox which have chipped and fallen off after only two hours. The only difference I think is that I didn’t put on a base coat but pretty everything else I did like you. I have short nails and it was difficult to file off the ends even after trimming the excess off. Any helpful tips you can think of would be appreciated. Thanks. Lisa
I've not had that happen so quickly before. Some are thicker than others so you might find a glass file works better, or a really gritty nail file. Try to file in one direction from the top of the nail down towards under the nail so it doesn't lift the wrap when you file it. You might have oily nails like me too, so try some nail polish remover to clean the oils before using the wrap. Also check the top coat, some will shrink the wrap and that can cause it to lift up.
Thank you for this video. Very informative and helpful. I watched it tonight whilst i put my first set of lily and fox wraps on. Was easy to follow along, did take me alot longer to do tho. But hoping i will get quicker with practice.
Thank you so much. I'm so happy it helped. My first few sets took a lot longer to apply. It certainly does get quicker the more you do. If you have any other questions about the process please let me know :)
@@WinterRose84 Thank you. Yeah, took me abour 2 hours from start to finish. Im having trouble with shrinkage and my thumb nail looks like its a false nail as i think they top coat was abit too thick. Some top coats will cause the wraps to shrink. It's just finding one that works. I use nail envy under mine sometimes and it works well enough. I like the Sally Hansen no Uv light gel top coat best for wraps.
@@WinterRose84 Ive read of alot of people using that top coat, i may get it and give it a try. I know that the essie one i used is highly recommended on the lily and fox nail wraps facebook group im in. Everyone shares ideas and problems they having to help others. And alot of people say they use the sally hansen no light gel top coat too. Thank you
Thank you :) sometimes I find it a little tricky to remove on the glitter wraps. I find if you are struggling to take off the plastic cover, try to remove it from the silver section where the wrap connects to the main border that's hold all of them together. You can gently bend the edge there and it can come loose enough to grab and pull off. Sometimes you may find the plastic cover has fallen off or stuck on the foil packaging, so it might be off already, check for that to. I've spent far too long a few times trying to remove a cover that wasn't there, lol.
Use scotch tape & place directly on the middle of the strips and press scotch tape down and lift off slowly. You now have removed the clear plastic covering.
@@kristiehoward5296 my nails are fine, as long as water doesn't get stuck under them and you take them off properly, and not peel them off, your nails should be okay. I use nail polish remover to take them off. They can dissolve sometimes, but others I just apply the remover on a brush and as the nail wrap lifts up I apply more remover under it using the brush. This essentially breaks the glue like bond.
Just at the nail Salon but we couldn't get the plastic covering off but she also didn't have the patience with them. I see how you stripped them off super easy and this is what I will do myself when it's time to redo my nails. I got these bc I just can't afford to keep going to the Salon plus I hate going. It's just not fun. I have got 2 shipments from yal and am a bit bummed she could t get them off. Since I was there she went ahead and put her own stickers on. The little ones the kids use. Anyway I will follow this tutorial next week when I change up.
Just to clarify I'm not associated or a part of this nail wrap company (or any other). Sometimes I've noticed on some of my wraps, not many though, the plastic had already come off. I'd tried to peel it off but couldn't. I then realised it didn't have any plastic on it. Luckily the wraps hadn't dried out, so I could still use them. That can happen sometimes though either because of a manufacturing or packaging error, or they get stuck to the foil package when pulling the strip out, or just fall off without noticing.
I've used some several months after resealing them and they were fine. As long as the thin plastic layer was left on the wraps they remained in good condition. When the plastic layers had come off, some of the wraps dried. I used to just seal the packets with tape, so you don't need to heat seal them either.
Make sure your topcoat wraps over the nail tip/edge. You can also reapply a top coat after a few days. It might also be that the top coat you've used has caused the wraps to shrink or become brittle. You could try a different top coat if you have one.
The only thing I really do differently when trimming that silver end off is I peel some of the backing off and just trim the wrap itself. Only because I have shorter nails, I have a hard time removing the backing and almost wrinkled up a few ends..😅only been doing these wraps for like a month
Hi, thanks for the video! Which one is more harmful for nails, nail polish or wraps? And how long do they last? Do they last longer with top or without?
Thank you for watching! Some people find wraps actually help their nails stay protected. I fund them the same as polish, however as they last about a week or two (wraps that is), I'm not using nail polish remover as much and it's less drying. I get a good week from my wraps, but I have really oily nails so polish only lasts one to three days on me. Some people get over 2 weeks from wraps. As long as they stay sealed to the nails and no moisture gets under them they can last longer. They will last much longer with a top coat. Some top coats can cause the wrap to shrink or bubble a little so just test them. I find Sally Hanson no UV gel top coat works well though.
I love Lily&Fox. Just wish they would have a larger option or reconsider the sizes. I have thin hands but apparently weirdly shaped nails. The largest strip is too small for my thumb and the smallest strip is too small for my 9yr old child's pinky! I paint my thumb nail with a matching shade polish to make it less obvious. It doesn't look so great though. The strips can be cut if someone has petite nails, but what to do if the largest strip is too small (stretching it is not enough).
I sometimes get this on my thumb. I also used to paint a matching colour, however if I have time I trim the edge of another wrap and place it in the gap. There is a line where they join, but I apply two top coats to make it thicker and that helps cover it up. I did hear they've recently released toe sets! They might help too, they should be wider and able to be cut down for wider nails.
I have a hard time with the ones with designs . Like the skull ones. They have the skull so far down, that I would end up filing off the design. I've tried to cut them so the skull design can actually be seen but it's hard. Also, they're always so square up near my cuticle. Any advice?
I normally cut mine to make them more oval or trim them to size. For the patterns too far down I haven't faced that issue before, however I have cut out specific pictures or parts and used them more like an accent or overlay.
I haven't tried myself, but I know people do. You would just have to test the brand and see if the polish causes the wraps to shrink a little (some can). If you do try let me know how you go!
My lily and fox wraps seemed a lot thicker than yours. Did I not take the right backing off? Mine were silver underneath and were so thick and hard to bend. Yours seem much thinner. I'm wondering if I did something wrong or have you seen wraps with silver backing?
I've never had any with a silver backing from this brand (I've received over 100). Thet normally have the white paper backing and a clear plastic sheet over each of them. If you didn't remove the clear plastic (which can be hard to remove in some cases) it makes the wraps feel thick and not very flexible. The thickest wraps I've had were glitter wraps with a clear look to them, however they were still pretty flexible.
Tip: Start with your pinky on each hand and do the identical nail on each hand as you go along, leaving thumbs for last.
Thanks again for the tip :)
Why?

I hope they work out well for you!
Love the video!! When you have short nails and use half for one set, how do you use the other half?? Do you just cut the shape of the one end since it's not precut? Thanks again!!
Yep, that's exactly what you do. Just cut the strip in half, then trim the second end to make a round edge to go against the base of the nail.
Just got my order, I'll see how they go. Thank you for your tutorial ☺️
If you have any questions please let me know and I'll see if I can help 😊

Thankyou for this really great, informative video.I'm about to try this for the first time. Can't wait to have a go. They look great fun. 🙂💜💐🇬🇧
Thanks so much. I hope it helps!
Prep is usually my downfall with nails! Also, last time I used the wraps I took a shower a couple hours later! Thanks for the video!
I'm glad it helped ☺️
Put your wraps on before going to bed, making sure your not wetting your hands or nails. When you get up in the morning you can then safely add a clear top coat. Remember to do the tips of your nails to ensure a tight seal so no water can get under the wraps.
Thank you for the detailed tutorial; very helpful. 🙂
Thank you so much, I'm happy it helped
Beautiful i think i,m going to try on my nails
Thanks! Good luck, I hope you enjoy them. When you get used to applying them, it's a game changer.
Thanks for sharing! You've made a very helpful video.

So helpful! Thank you! Any chance you have a video on removing the Lily and Fox wraps?
I do! The link is in the description of this video, or you can watch it here th-cam.com/video/4cIqQTAW3FU/w-d-xo.html 😀
Such a helpful video! Quick question. Could you use shellac/UV polish instead of air dry polish?
I've never tried that myself, but I have heard some people have done it before with gel uv polish. I'm just not 100% sure how it would turn out. If you try it though I'd love to hear how it goes.
Great tutorial! Thanks
I'm so glad it helped!
The link is in the description of this video.
thank you again! Found the removal video and that one was just as excellent!!!
I loved this tutorial!! Thank you 🙏

Great video. You explained everything very well.
Thanks so much 😊
I want some of these immediately haha going to buy some. Thanks for the video :)
They are great, especially if you're new to nail wraps, they are more affordable and pretty easy to use. :D
Very clear video! Thanks. And your nails are beautiful
Thank you so much 😀
Great tutorial..so helpful!
Thanks, I'm so glad it helped ☺️
Thank you!! This is exactly what I was looking for! ❤
I'm so glad it helped!
Very clear and informative video!! I might think about trying them out :)!
Thank you :)
Dammit! I wish I would’ve found your video before I purchased a bunch of Jamberry ones! I just looked up the Lily and Fox brand and they are so much cuter, more reasonable and easier to apply. Thank you for the great video! I love the design you’re working with here! 💕
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you liked it 😊
Do you have any tips for someone who has ridges in their nails? Does that affect the prep process or how long the wraps last?
I sometimes get small ridges up my nail, but I've not got much experience with larger ridges. I normally will use a filling base coat. They can be called ridge fillers. Then, apply the wraps as normal. It's not perfect, but it can help.
You mainly want to make sure you seal the wrap so nothing gets under it. So when you apply the top coat make sure to cap the top of the nail and seal the wrap near the cuticle.
Excellent, thanks.
Glad it helped.
Would love an ASMR video! Your voice is so calming 😉
Thanks, that's definitely something I'm working on :)
Hey there Elle~ what is an "ASMR video" please?
ASMR is probably easiest to be described as a genre of videos that help people relax or sleep. Think like a person speaking softly and calmly. Sometimes it's just relaxing noises. There's more to it for some people and everyone enjoys different types of ASMR videos.
@@WinterRose84 Good to know~ thank you. I tend to turn on instrumental gospel or Spanish guitar playlists, also cello music. People's voices, either speaking or singing, are not as relaxing because I want to engage in the "story" so to speak. Maybe people are just too interesting to be relaxing for me, hehehe=).
Can you put partially transparent wraps over coloured nail polish? Thanks for the tutorial 😊
Yes you can, I've done it before, just make sure the polish is completely dry before trying to apply the wrap.
@@WinterRose84 Thanks mate!
You’re great at teaching :) thank you for the tutorial

Such pretty hands you have~ wow🌼 I've made a commitment this year to be kinder to my hands & nails, now that I'm retired & actually have some free time! I always worked in non-profit social services, which meant I also needed 1-2 "side jobs" to make ends meet. I'm thrilled to learn about these wraps, as I had no idea they even existed. I'm not real smooth w/polish & such~ though I've been practicing for almost a year =) I am hoping that maybe the wraps w/a top coat will be the answer for me, so I will be using your link to try out a few~ Thanks so much for your time & effort in these posts, I truly appreciate it~

Thank you so much! I hope nail wraps help with that!
I like the OPI nail envy when my nails are in a little rough shape, but the blue holo taco base can help the wraps last a little longer.
Thank you for this tutorial. :)
Glad it was helpful!
I chose a star is born for my first set and its so pretty!. Thanks for your reply x
Some top coats will cause the wraps to shrink. It's just finding one that works. I use nail envy under mine sometimes and it works well enough. I like the Sally Hansen no Uv light gel top coat best for wraps.

I love Lily and Fox wraps! I have a hard time though removing the clear plastic covering. Any suggestions? Your nails are fabulous looking!
Love the origami fox 🦊 they send with the kits
Me too, I've got a small collection going.
Thank you 🎉🎉❤
I didn't get a fox in the US 😢.
Thank you! Do you use the matte or shiny sally hansen miracle gel top coat?
I use the glossy version.
Very thorough and well explained tutorial! How long do nail wraps usually last? Thank you :)
Thanks! I normally get at least 5 days. But I have really oily nails and am hard on my hands. My Mum gets up to 3 weeks.

@@WinterRose84 of course
Ive been using Lily and Fox for about a year.. I love their designs and quality, I also love Dashing Diva and Rarity, all similar in quality.
Thank you for the recommendations
How is the health of your natural nail since using them so long? Also, how do you get them off?
How are these nail wraps for using a second time after resealing the package? Do they dry out?
I don't reseal them, I just keep the extras in the original package. Ive used ones recently that were opened a year ago.
I've used some several months after resealing them and they were fine. As long as the thin plastic layer was left on the wraps they remained in good condition. When the plastic layers had come off, some of the wraps dried. I used to just seal the packets with tape, so you don't need to heat seal them either.
I like the company! Anyone have any tips on how to stop my fingertips from chipping/fraying
That's a handy tip!
THANK YOU FOR THIS omg
I'm glad you liked it 😊

@@WinterRose84 thank you, that was helpful!
Beautiful ❤
Thank you 😊
I have a hard time with the ones with designs .
Can we use a gel base coat and gel top coat with these nail wraps?
I haven't tried myself, but I know people do. You would just have to test the brand and see if the polish causes the wraps to shrink a little (some can). If you do try let me know how you go!
@@WinterRose84 Thank you ❤️
Is the gel nail polish for top coat need uv light ?
Not this one, it's a Sally Hansen Gel top coat, but it's not a UV gel polish. It's more like a thick top coat.
I have heard people using a UV gel top coat with good results though. I've not tried myself though as I like to change my nails too often.
Can you apply gel top coat in top to make them last longer?
Yes you can. Some may react with the wraps, sometimes causing them to shrink a little, but it can work.
How do you remove them, could you please do a video.

How do you remove the sticker? Do you just peel it off?
There are several ways you can remove the wraps. I've got a video that shows them, the link is included in this video :)
