I'm not going to go on a huge tear about this, but I think those direct quotes from elected politicians speaking of the nation whose people they are supposed to represent speaks for themselves. Not only are they untrue as they are divorced from historical fact, they are also massively harmful both for native Swedes and those attempting to join our nation from outside.

Fika isn’t actually having coffee with something sweet, it’s pastries with something else to drink. Fika is defined by the pastry, so when you say “let’s get Fika” you mean that you want a pastry and maybe something to drink. However when you say “let’s get coffee” you mean that you want to drink coffee, maybe with some chocolate, fudge or caramel. So yeah, Fika is defined by a pastry, getting a coffee is defined by the coffee.

“Fika” is “Sotarspråk” (chimney sweeper language) for coffe, it’s just “kaffe” (coffee) but reordered, “fe” changed placement with “ka” and so “Feka” but it sounds better to say “Fika”.

Why we say fika instead of coffee:

It's shorter. Laziness wins out. Why use a noun and a verb when we can just turn the noun into a verb? It's amazing. Also, the word fika comes from coffee, so there's that. We took our loanword and its spelling for coffee from Turkish where I believe we first encountered it. And fika is simple kafi flipped. Kafi -> ka fi -> fi ka

What people dont explain about Fika when talking about it is that it is a MANDATORY! You cannot NOT have Fika, so no its not like "Hey wanna grab a coffe". It is part of the daily work rutine and sometimes if ur feeling cheeky you have two fikas in one day :O

the winters are nice in Sweden but that is if you even get snow. the part of Sweden i live in, we haven't seen real snow fall in like 15 years now, here its just grey and cold, Damn Skåne sucks sometimes. But at least our summers here is the best, 100% the most colorful out of the whole country

Why we say fika is cos we don’t always have coffee. We can have tea, saft, soda, chocolate, milk. So calling it coffee or tea feels wrong. English just dosn’t have the word for it. Fika and having a coffee is littarly the same thing. Fika is bassically just the sweidsh word for "having a coffee". Most often with a cinnamon bun. To be fair the word fika most often refeares to the cinnamon bun... HOWEVER. Im pretty sure that it's possible to have fika with just coffee...
Btw a Dalahäst is most often found in elderly peoples houses. The only one I know about is in my grandmas house.
AND ALSO. The winter is sick. Im pretty confident that the winter is dissliked primarely of people in the south of sweden (where the cringe population lives... aka the majority) since the winter is kinda cringe down there. Almost no snow and when in is aka november they are somehow always chocked about it and then the trafic is KHAOS. Meanwhile the northern and better sweden does have a lot of snow and there is no problem at all. Also snowmobiles can actually be used and thats a mad 10/10

Fyi, I just googled and prost is also cheers but in german. There are also different meanings in Romania and in Sweden for that word.
