Marble Blast Gold - World Record Rampage #6: Advanced

  • Five rampages weren't enough, so we're back for a sixth! The extraordinary marblers in the Marble Blast community continue to demolish the game that started it all for us, and every time it's said that there's an unlikely chance of another rampage, it just never seems to hold true. We have the pleasure of presenting, yet again, all 100 levels improved. You know the drill: popcorn and drinks!
This is the first rampage to make use of Dom's Speedrun Edition of Marble Blast Gold, a moderator-approved build of the original game that dramatically improves the speedrunning experience for players. New features include a revamped .rec handling system, control over maximum FPS settings, input display, and a lot more. What is most notable regarding the rampage itself is a constant third decimal display on the clock, and an accompanying time travel timer.
This video showcases the advanced levels, the third of the three difficulties featured in Marble Blast Gold. Straight proof presented right in front of you that no matter how hard the level, there's always someone who can obliterate it. It's in our nature! And it's a delight to show those skills off.
    Coming up next are bloopers!

To have the chance to be part of a video like this for one of my absolute favourite childhood games is a dream come true. I never would have imagined that Marble Blast would have such a thriving community with an abundance of talent, especially so many years after the series began, yet here we are. I'm still watching this over and over again to process everything and let it all sink in, it's all completely surreal!
Congratulations to all runners past and present for helping us get to where we are now. This has been an absolute blast - a rampage for the books.

Maybe the greatest MB video of all time. It's hard to pick favorites (everything is just so sick) but Tube Treasure, Battlements, and Darwin's Dilemma stood out. Plus there were so many other levels that previously had unfinished business that now finally have happy resolutions - keeping the catch on WotW and Skyscraper, the Ordeal TL, a super clean Tightrope run, the list goes on and on.
Also a big thank you to Nock for putting the rampage together, and for taking the time to reupload to make sure all the details (hopefully) go right.

Absolutely incredible. All of these runs being improved THAT much over the years is just so crazy. I have to say I think tightrope was my favorite. I'd never thought I'd see such an incredibly perfect run on that level, but here we are.
Xelna and the rest of the runners did an amazing job!

    (3rd times the charm lol)
My favorite part. And there are too many insane runs to pick a favorite at the moment. Some highlights are Tube Treasure, TTM, Will o', TTNA, SOTF, Siege, Ramps Reloaded, Pipe Dreams, Ordeal, Battlements, Natural Selection and ever level after is mind blowing. It was so much fun contributing to this. Ever since I first learned of MBG WRR's I wanted to get in one. And I couldn't be happier. Great job to everyone involved. And thank you Nock for editing. As I have stated before, "This is the greatest game ever made." Hopefully in the next 10 years we'll see WRR7 lol.

Some of my favorite tweaks were on Tube Treasure, Survival of the Fittest, Ramps Reloaded, Battlements, Pinball Wizard, and Darwin's Dilemma. Also really impressed by the runs on Pathways and King of the Mountain. Congrats on getting this released, amazing stuff.

The epic conclusion to the legendary compilation, a truly awesome accomplishment in all respects.
Not to say that every run (*every* run) isn't deserving of accolades but these ones truly stand above the rest, at least, in my opinion: Learn the Super Jump, Platform Party, Marble Playground, Tube Treasure, Skyscraper, To the Moon, Survival of the Fittest, Ordeal, Battlements, Tightrope, and King of the Mountain. The ingenuity of the new routes, and new traplaunches, unthinkably impressive optimizations, precision of execution, and some of the longest grinds in Marble Blast history define these runs, and for that they get my undying admiration.
Xelna has proved himself the greatest of all time beyond a shadow of a doubt, his unceasing dedication to playing this game at the highest level near-constantly since the very first MBG World Record Rampage 17 years ago. HTX a relative newcomer has shattered records for longest grinds in MB history and has nearly perfected each and every level he commits to. Dom armed with more knowledge about the intricacies of each level than anyone in the community was able to beat some of the most impressive short level times in stunning fashion. These three alone account for 85 of the 100 levels in this rampage, most of which (50!) were from Xelna. But, Berzerk, Mazik, Hyran, Kasper, Nature Freak, Powerjohn, and Stewman all had incredible runs as well and deserve all the praise for managing to beat out the other three on the few levels they managed. Not to mention the path and tweak-finding that came from everyone involved in the making of this rampage. The discovery of NSJ (Natural Slope Jump) alone improved the records on dozens of levels, let alone the new auto starts improving reliability and speed on nearly every level. It was truly a colossal effort from the entire community and everyone involved should feel accomplished. And lastly, Nockess, as always, killed it with the recording, editing, and music selections. This could not have happened without the contributions from every one of you, thank you.
Maybe the last great rampage this game will ever see, but then again, we said that for the fifth rampage. God only knows what the future holds. However, I think everyone could die happy should this be the last rampage. Everyone gave it their all, and left no run unoptimized. The sharing of runs, routes, and tweaks has improved the quality of this rampage and will continue to do so for every other Marble Blast game and their future rampages. And with that I've run out of ways to say that this rampage is awesome beyond comprehension. It was an honor to watch this all come together over the last four years. Congratulations, everyone.

I waited until the Advanced section to put down my comments. As with previous MB WRR's that were released, MBG WRR #6 never ceases to amaze me overall, and it certainly proved Matan and others wrong on why there wouldn't be a sixth rampage. I even rewatched all three sections a few times to see which runs are my favorites. Here are my overall thoughts of the entire rampage:
The Beginner section was quite solid overall with nice, subtle improvements to even the shortest levels. Grand Finale was quite a show to build up some suspense for the Intermediate section.
The Intermediate section had even more insane paths that I didn't expect: Jump Jump Jump, Marble Playground, Half Pipe, and Monster Speedway were just some of Xelna's most impressive paths in that section that makes most of the Time Travels and edge-hits.
The Advanced Section was extraordinarily explosive that I couldn't narrow down a few favorites as there were so many impressive runs that stood out to me the most: Tube Treasure, Skyscraper, Will o' Wisp, Siege, Battlements, Natural Selection, Pathways, and Darwin's Dilemma. (Also I love how the final track used in the video is called "Marble Madness" and how it gets faster as we approach the final levels;, I've found it quite fitting)
I've also noticed a few things: at least some of the runs were recorded on a Mac (you can tell with the gems looking "light blue" when viewed far away). Additionally, Marble Materials Lab run was recorded at a lower frame rate despite the level doesn't have any mines unlike Space Slide and Freeway Crossing, which utilizes mine hits. I really love that Dom's Speedrunning MBG Edition made its debut for this rampage as the third decimal time & time travel timer show how tight and optimized those runs are.
After watching all of Xelna's runs that made it to the final project, this goes to show how Xelna is still the GOAT MB player of all time. He's simply sooooo exceptionally great at the game ever since MBG was released. Despite his brief retirement around 2011, he gradually made an eventual comeback to become reclaim the crown for the best MBG speedrunner of all time!!
All in all, this was the best Marble Blast World Record Rampage I've ever seen, possibly the most impressive one yet, thanks to Xelna's unimaginable tweaks that no one would think of or even attempted to execute. Now that the MBG WRR #6 is now complete, what's next for the Marble Blast Community? I'm hoping for other WRR's that haven't been done in a while such as Easter Eggs or maybe Leaderboards. However, I'm placing my bets on the next WRR to be MBU WRR #3 as the last one was released in 2020, and I've been seeing some improved MBU runs lately. See y'all in the next World Record Rampage; I can't wait to see what the next one will be.

Only one run was recorded on a Mac, which was Eye of the Storm - NF had to send a recording of his run that he did himself because the .rec always desynced otherwise (even his bloopers did this). Everything else was recorded on Windows; the gems being light blue from a distance is a result of environmentMaps, which also gives marbles reflection (see runs done by Dom, HappyTreeX1, or Mazik).
Thanks for your support, glad you enjoyed the rampage. :)
