I'm so glad I can eat vicariously through you Dav! (Ok, that sounds weird.) I am such a plain and simple eater. You are helping me appreciate exotic food experiences. Thank you!
Welcome dave! The next time you're here and feeling bit more adventurous, you can head to our east side peninsular, or if you're looking for good food abd culture melting point you could consider heading to Penang or even Malacca 😊
That looks fantastic! I've been to Singapore (and absolutely loved it), but I haven't made it to Malaysia yet. BTW, takoyaki is a very typical Japanese dish from western Japan, especially Osaka, but that's definitely a Malysian variation. Takoyaki literally means fried octopus (tako is octopus), so you would only have octopus in them. Really good street food, and a must-eat if you go to Osaka!
'Kungfu noodles' is literally supposed to be Cantonese style (silky egg) fried noodles, usually flat rice noodles (kuey teow). In Cantonese, it's "Kwong Foo", i.e. a dialect from Guangzhou, China. It's a classic dish for Malaysian-Chinese of Guangzhou-origin. Due to it's popularity, there are other versions created from this influence, like the Kungfu Noodles & Malay style fried kuey teow/kuey teow goreng. 'Kungfu' is just a fancy name to the dish. The actual should be Kwong Foo Chow (fried). So, ya, that's diversities. 😃
I would leave a place like that in a food coma. The ice cave was pretty cool. Sledding was my favorite winter activity as a child. Wishing you the best 2024 Dāv!
That vendor has a mixture of different type of menus at his stall; Thai, Malay, Chinese, etc. His main should be Thai, as his stall name, D'Kota Thai Food.
Malaysia is melting pot of Asians food. You likes gecko? I recommend u visit Pulau Perhentian there are lot of big geckos there 🦎. Also Pulau Tioman, that islands is full of snakes like the rare Tioman Kukri snake 🐍

The hummingbird nest is made of coconut, according to the vendor. Maybe dessicated coconut added to the dough for that crispy texture.
I wondered about that. Thanks for the info!

Kungfu is actually referring to Cantonese style fried noddle. It is easier to remember than the correct word guang fu.
