  • Part of a larger Video dealing with the History of Swinshaw and Gambleside collieries in Rossendale Lancashire. I have cut this to do a guided trip of the surface remains which are quite extensive. The whole colliery site is spread over a large area and dates from pre 1612. The full feature will be posted at a later date.

    Fantastic video. I have lived in Rossendale for just over 20 years and have walked passed that site and didn’t know its history.

    not everyone knows what 'bait' is, maybe the best kept secret that miners discovered pike in the underground springs and ponds and would do some fishing to catch supper hence the other term for bait, 'snap time'
