      When I edit the videos I am always pleased when how are are together normally shines through for you too. Yes, we really are this daft in normal life and not just when the camera is recording lol.
      Hopefully we can continue to grow as a channel for just being us and what we are doing... and the odd arty shots and special effects now and then.
      Thank you again :-)

    You two have accomplished so much with grit and ingenuity! My renovation priorities have always been safe, warm (including heat and hot water) and dry. You seem to have others... 😄 Now that you have the "luxury" of electricity, my holiday wish for you is installation of a very hot bath/shower ASAP. ❤ Dawn, how are you washing your hair??? You always look lovely.😘 I am not at all nice to be around without access to a hot shower and the ability to wash my long hair... You are both amazing.

      Awww thank you so much! 🥰 Warm is Bens main priority, so we are rarely cold, unless we’re outside lol. Shower indoors should happen soon hopefully before Christmas! So that is very very exciting! We’ve been showering outdoors for 6 months, so what a revelation it will be to shower indoors again! To be fair Ben set up a good outdoor hot shower so it hasn’t been so bad really, even when it’s raining!🌧️ it does take a while to rinse my hair out but wow it has felt so much healthier since showering in rain water! Thank you for the compliment 😊😘

    I love you guys to bits! Good thing you were clearing during the dormant period. I would get a tractor out to level it out before you start replanting, it will make a world of difference. I was unsure if by garden you meant a lawn with flowers and foliage or if you meant vegetables? I am soooooo happy the Money Pit is making a turn towards new creations and new endeavors and seeing your hard work on making it happen is rewarding as a viewer which is why we watch. I wish I was closer, younger, and more able to come over and give you a hand. Getting out in the land is part of your journey as your turning the neglected back into usable. I hope yall have a Merry Christmas and keep on keeping on! You both are doing so well for not having any experience. I wish you all the warmth of the Holiday Season!

      Thank you very much, we are so pleased people enjoy watching us, as we are loving it here.
      Funnily enough, we were only saying last night that I need to suck it up and get the rake out and flatten all of the soil we piled up from the out buildings. A tractor would be faster and easier but we don't want to ask too many favours of the lovely people around us..... or at least try not to. (look out for a coming video)
      More of a vegetable / relax / flowers type area. At the moment just a flat area will be a good start, but we will get there now we have more time for homesteading :-) We are really looking forward to having a big period of time to dedicate to clearing.
      We watched the Money pit the other day as we had not seen it, great film and oh so true, it is just like this place hahaha.
      It will be an odd Christmas this year but will be as special as it always it.
      Merry Christmas to you an your family. And thank you so much for always watching and commenting :-)

    It must bring down the stress when you get a clear day to work outside and tidy up. It looks so much better and that chipper's working overtime - you both probably are too haha. It will be so nice once the yard has been cleared and you can really see the full extent of the property. Bathing birdies are sweet! Your roof has been fixed since filming that scene.

      It is lovely to get out and work on the land. The house took priority but now it is dry and warm we can look forward to being outside more and starting the real work on the land before Spring. We have so much to do and the chipper will work wonders to help make a load more chippings.
      Yes the ridge tiles are done, this video showed how bad they really were. And as for the bathing birds... I think they are mocking us hahahaha.

      Hi :-)
      I seem to have an issue with buying things that are normally far too over the top for the job in hand. The last few purchases though have been worth going larger. I was looking at the up to 4" 100mm chipper but that is far too large not to burn so opted for the smaller 2" 50mm model. It is a great bit of kit and did eight barrow loads of chippings in a few hours.
      It only jammed once where I didn't realise the barrow was so full. Once I kept an eye on it ,it didn't jam again.
      Thanks as always for watching and commenting :-)

      Hi Colette, thank you for joining us so quickly after the video uploading and of course commenting :-)
      We love being outside, it has always been our dream since being together to have land and lots of animals, so being able to make a start with something like the chipper that just eats through branches, it is effortless.
      Thank you for sharing the tip on using the chippings at the bottom of the raised bed, I know Dawn can't wait to have some flat, dry land to be able to start growing veg, and we have plenty of chippings now.
      Thank you for the wishes for 2024, we will be here, I am sure busy doing something. All the very best to you and yours also. xx

      hahaha, I think we were both very good at not procrastinating for once.... until our neighbour turned up for an hour and of course it would have been rude not to stop and chat lol.
      The last land work video we did said to be continued, so I had to find a way of jumping back to what this new video was a continuation of. So a bit of a play with some editing and here we are. Not sure how I can make the next video better with editing effects and not repeating what I did in this one.
      Dawn is a beast with everything she does, never scared to have a go and works so much harder than I do. I make it look like I am working when really I am watching Dawn do it all.

    I would have never thought that there were small woodchipper. Our property is half woods and we are always picking up sticks and just don’t know what to do with them since we don’t have a fireplace. Now, a woodchipper would be perfect to deal with them…thanks for giving me the idea. So are you going to use the chips for pathways or mulch? Oh, and Congratulations on your first member!

    • @thecornerhouseproject
      @thecornerhouseproject  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dory, thank you for always joining us and you are always welcome :-)
      Over here you can even buy small electric ones for sticks and things and then, as you know, you can get huge chippers which eat trees. We went for a mid level one, it isn't noisy, quieter than the big generator, and is really easy to start. It will take up to 50mm (1/2 inch) and a little bigger if you get carried away. We have so many trees down from the past 20 years, the chipper will help no end.
      Paths or mulch? If I told you, you would be seeing into the future of a video yet to come :-)
      Thank you for always being with us on our journey.

    @evelyngorfram9306 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice to see you guys at it again (at it before? 😉).
    Whenever you get out into the garden again, you might consider just setting up a compost heap, rather than waiting to make bins or bays. All you need is a 5-to-15 foot space that's somewhat out of the way, & a bunch of stuff to compost. You can try to optimize that rate of composting by balancing greens & browns, keeping it turned, managing moisture content, & all that; or can literally just let it all sit there & rot (getting organic material *not* to compost is really the tricky part). In theory, the middle of a very big pile could get too hot; but that's pretty unlikely, especially in Ireland, in the winter- and especially if you're not managing the pile to deliberately make it hot. Too big a pile mostly just gets to be a pain to add stuff to; but you can always make a long oval rather than a big circle, or more than one pile.
    Anyway, have a great week/few days/however long. 😊

    • @thecornerhouseproject
      @thecornerhouseproject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha, yes, we were back to the future which is still the past and then in present day, even we got confused lol
      A compost heap will be great, sadly it won't be in the immediate future as we have so many trees to cut back and chipper, there is one section of the land we haven't managed to yet due to fallen trees. The only vegetation we have at present is the grass growing in the field which the other day was 4" under water from the rain. All the nettles have died away as have the marsh marigolds.
      Very soon though we will be able to carry on with the small farm land / homestead to clear it ready for Spring..... that is the plan anyway haha.
      Thank you as always for watching and commenting with such a great idea and with so much information. Hopefully we can use it one day :-)

      That is the plan I think with a garden type area, maybe a poly tunnel too. The rest of the land is hidden down the bank, it won't be log before you start seeing that. It was like a paddling pool the other day after heavy rain.

      Dawn just loves being outside and if the house wasn't the priority, working on the land would have been happening from day 1. She is itching to get out there over the Christmas period and hopefully we can continue on a very regular basis.
      Channel membership:
      Basically, we can create different perks for people who choose to become channel members. At present we set it up just for fun with a shout out and secret wave (maybe not so secret), priority replies to your comments (we normally start from the oldest to the newest) and some special icons by your name to show you support our channel.
