Are you sure about Ditko's interpretation of Gwen? The impression I got was Ditko's Gwen was spoiled and entitled and not used to boys ignoring her! Stan Lee was the one who based Gwen on his own wife: intelligent and loving, no matter what!

You are right. Mj of comics is nothing but a mix of mj of spectacular Spider-Man animated series in terms of personality and mj of Sam raimi's spiderman in terms of life problems, temper, backstory and selfishness. Gwen was never selfish. She was the better one(atleast for me)

Also what can gwen do. when the whole world was blaming Spider-Man for captain Stacy's death because everyone saw it happening in front of their eyes they are going to believe it. Gwen later went on to hear from everyone that spiderman had killed her father,she then went on to hate him.also political parties went on to campaign against spiderman and they fuelled the controversy more and the whole public was against Spider-Man. And I think Gwen was not selfish. She used to get angry at Peter for his sudden disappearances and she tried to find out the reason behind these disappearances. But I think the issues 140-150 sum up easily how captain Stacy and Gwen Stacy were actually good people because everyone was unhappy that Gwen came back from the dead. Everyone thought that their months of effort to bring Peter and mj closer was going to get ruined as Gwen was back. Nobody cared about Gwen at that time. Aunt may hated Gwen, mj tried to force Peter to choose between her and Gwen and Peter then literally goes on to say that "Gwen shouldn't have come back from dead" despite him being the reason for her and her father's death(partially). Note: the reason I love Gwen and hate literally every character even Peter in these comics was all because of what happened in issues 140-150. Also before this mj had just shared a kiss with Peter whereas Peter had that iconic relationship with Gwen for two years.
