Cycle 2 is one of my favorite cycles of ANTM. On the other end, I watched Luxeria's weigh in on this entire episode & as far as the go-see part is concerned, the way the contestants were treated was too brutal when they didn't know what they were getting into. Luxeria mentioned along the lines of industry leaders wouldn't treat new & coming models poorly if they want to train them to being a 0 to a star (if that makes sense). The way Camille was portrayed on the entire cycle was the angry/bi***y/aggressive/stand-offish Blk woman. My thing is that Camille was self-assured, reserved, & mostly kept to herself for the most part. It took me so long to understand why she was painted in a negative light when there was nothing wrong with her to begin with. It all goes to show that Blk women have to dismantle the preconceived notion that they're the polar opposite of mean/angry/aggressive/etc. To second someone else's comment, Camille's "signature walk" statement was carried into both Cycles 5 & 6. @Jessica, your ANTM reactions across the board are heartfelt & your truly delve into the problematic situations that aren't appropriate in the real world of modeling & the fashion industry as a whole.

You didn’t need to be as suspicious about the photoshoot. The first few seasons actually had some normal photoshoots, although there were a couple of “phobia” photoshoots - one hanging very high in the air (one of the girls was scared of heights) and an underwater episode, so they started trying to traumatise the girls this season for “entertainment”. There was one of their silly themes / extreme concepts this season - (episode 1 - garden of Eden themed) where they made them get naked, covered them in body paint and they posed in the jungle with a male model. They were trying to get rid of any girls that refused to pose naked in episode 1. Also, poor Yoanna - they constantly mentioned her weight this season.
Thank you! You summed up the photographers' pretentious directing perfectly. "It doesn't have to be meaningful it just needs to be a cool pose." I do a little acting and cosplaying on the side and I agree the Model/Actress just needs to have a chance to get into it. Once there's a shot or two she can have fun and embrace what she's trying to do.
If someone was rude to me like that, I would be so flabbergasted that I couldn't even answer, but if I did, I would mostly be confused and maybe even cry :D
Hi Jessica, I speak italian and to answer your question, when Camille was talking in the go-sees, the "not italian" guy was translating what she was saying. That's why it sounds weird.
Camille to me seems like a very reserved and quiet girl. The producers must have HATED her because she gave them hardly anything to work with to twist.
When you asked why Michael was talking over Camille in Italian, the simple answer is that he was being an interpreter for the designer. I think she spoke English, but was possibly acting like she didn't when Camille was there.
I am one of those people who just needs to pick my battles all of time and I have dealt with people like the panel in my own family. Even when you interject nicely and try to express your opinion, they shout and shoot you down. It gets to the point where I don’t even tru anymore. It is easier to just sit/stand there and nod than to fight them anymore. They always think they won even when they are wrong because they expect you to give up or just nod and grin to what they are saying. It is infuriating.
Haha I stayed to the end and the drawing could have been good but they didn't get it right. I couldn't place what was wrong but u are beautiful and that pic didn't do you justice at all! And I'm sure you paid a lot for that! One of your subs with artistic abilities should draw you a new one!
I remember this photographer allegedly made a move on Camille. Wouldnt surprise me if he picked a bad photo on purpose. While I liked April's picture, it felt like they sabotaged her posing by laying her down when she could have been far more dynamic.
something tells me that some girls were deliberately set up with uncomfortable/awkward poses just so they'd have a "worse" shoot than others to provide a rationale in post-production for their eliminations
In response to the question about being treated that way and my reaction to it, I would have likely just thanked them for the opportunity and told them I'm not what they are looking for, then swiftly turn and walk out. It is so sad that they are trying to coerce these girls into thinking they need to accept that sort of disrespect to make a name for themselves.
Michael Giannini IS Italian. He is a judge on Italy’s top model show. I believe the speaking he was doing when Camille was talking at the go-see was him translating to the lady running the go-see
Michael Giannini is not Italian. He has Italian relatives, but he is not. Italian is a nationality, not a "race". It is very disrespectful for USA people to claim a nationality just because of where their ancestors come from. But considering the fake stereotypical Italian accent he put on when speaking in English, offensive is not something that rings a bell in him.
Jessica you should see the original pictures from this photoshoot, they look amazing. These ones oversaturated because of tv filter or something. You can find them online
I'd watch an entire series of your "they don't have valet at walgreens" persona. Her name is Serendipity (it's actually Sarah, but shh 🤫). She only shops at Erowhon, and the oat milk shortage of October 2021 was easily the most traumatic experience in her life.
Just saying the comments about Shandi were because she actually worked at a Walgreens before modeling . So they were saying she went from ordinary girl to super model
i love how they took like "hidden camera" footage of the go see when the tv show's job is to film it with professional cameras. like what was the point
Again, they're attacking women of color by saying that they have "an attitude" and I think we are all sick of the stereotyping this show does to black women at this point.
Right? I had to look through the comments to see if other people got the ick from this too. Claiming that a black woman having a bad attitude and aggressiveness when all she did was to stand up for herself is just.. no. It didn't sit right with me. Like so many other things they did on this show..
Oh I totally get it now. This show is basically Tyra's "charity" project helping girls get into the modeling industry who wouldn't normally have that chance. In their mind they are doing them a favor. In their mind they can treat them however they want. They look down on them, they need to pay their "dues."
the go-see "spy" speaks fluent italian, he was translating for the other one (the lady) who wasn't as fluent, that's why he's speaking over camille in real time
This is season 2 Jess. They still had some kinks, including audio. 😆 But really, I liked more of the naturalness of the show, unlike years later where it got so "manufactured".
If my job depended on it, and it has in the past, I would absolutely still be polite to a rude person depending on how bad I wanted or needed the job. Polite but firm. However, if it had nothing to do with my ability to make money to eat, they're getting same energy all the way. And that drawing at the end wasn't that bad.
I wouldve mentioned being chosen out of 6k girls as well, but Im the type to ask for critiques if it seems unsatisfactory, like, "Well, if you have any critiques, let me know, but I WAS chosen out of 6k girls and am now in the top 5 😊."
As an artist, its not bad in terms of drawing skills! It's extremely difficult to draw human faces and proportions. Anyone who has attempted to do this challenge in art classes knows its extremely difficult to get even this close. As a street artist, getting it this close with this much detail is very impressive! Photography can capture in an instant what takes artists several hundreds of hours of skill to learn and perfect. That's why typically at American amusement parks, you will see caricature style live art done instead, because that only focuses on the general impression of the person and not capturing every minute detail. Specific criticism would be that yes the proportions of the face are slightly off from yours, perhaps stretched a little wide, almost as if they were drawing on a canvas that was tilted sideways a bit and didnt realize it, however the actual details if you looked at each part individually they did an excellent job on! Take the picture and tilt it so the left part of the drawing is forward and the right part of the drawing is further away, and I bet it would look much more accurate. Also, charcoal is incredibly difficult to make look soft, so all shadows of the face are going to feel exaggerated, which just like harsh lighting in a photograph, can emphasize the more structural parts of the face and age a person's appearance. That's the nature of the medium, and unless you are very very gentle with very light weighted charcoal strengths, you aren't going to be able to capture the same softness in the natural face. I still think they did a very impressive job here, and honestly I could not do the same without spending a significant amount more time attempting this, and definitely not from someone sitting right in front of me.
I agree. Also as an artist, specificall one that grew up using charcol and chalk when i do tradition. And honestly the primary area in this piece that makes it not look lik her is everything below nose, not just proportion wise but almost shape wise. She has less of a cupids bow, and her jowels arent as prominent, plus she has a squarer chin even in 3/4th view then the drawing gives. Her eyes are a bit smaller but that is again proportions as you stated. The nose tho is very well done Especially considering how many artist have trouble with it. And if they had more time im sure could they could have caught it
If this is a photo for sunglasses, could you please tell me where the sunglasses are? Or was this a test for the models to remind the costumer that they needed them?
To be honest: at that age I probably would have taken it and cried (if I was hungry then all bets are off). Nowadays I may still take it (worked in retail too many years) but I definitely would respond more “professionally” = firm and direct if I can offer an answer and if they are being impossible, offer to direct them to my manager. Being professional is not being “nice”. Being professional is not losing your cool and still being respectful. I once had a surgeon screaming at me because I told him not to jump over a moving forklift as he cut through a warehouse into the hospital. I was professional but I certainly was not nice.
Hi Jessica, linguist here. First, Michael is 1st generation Italian, as you are 1st generation Arabic (sorry, I forget the nationality). When he speaks with an accent, as you said, he is also speaking with Italian grammatical structure (syntax) imposed onto English words. In effect he is imitating his immigrant parents speaking English. In addition, I don't think this is as much of a trick as a lesson in not assuming anything about people. I can turn around from an American English conversation to a French conversation sans difficulte. I am told that when I speak German, my accent is French. Never assume...
Your comment is very polite and very informative, but he is not Italian. He has Italian relatives, his nationality is not Italian. His accent is not Italian either, he is imitating a very stereotypical Italo-American way of speaking (with a syntax that would be incorrect even in Italian) that has the same social depth of "It's a-me, Mario!". It's considered quite offensive here and it perfectly embodies why we hate when people that care nothing for our culture claim to be part of our nation because of where their ancestors are from. Having said that, in Italy, you are legally "1st generation Italian" if you are the first in your family to obtain Italian citizenship. "Italian" is not a race, neither is an ethnical group. It is a nationality that ecompasses tons of different ethnical backgrounds. So the fact that he is blatantly using this expression wrong himself on his socials just further emphasizes that he doesn't care to get us at all.
I agree with the first comment, he does sound like he is interpreting Italian word for word and it does make sense but wait a minute, since when is Italian not an ethnicity? It is both an ethnicity and a nationality! "People that care nothing for our culture" - He has not said anything about what he thinks about Italy or his connections, so why are you assuming? I think you also need to take into account that you would need to sound at least a bit stereotypical for this kind of show, it's probably what they wanted (no, that doesn't mean it's good or a good representation).
I was ready to condemn Camille for her ego. But after listening to these smug judges, I think a model needs a steel spine to survive such people. Without that, she could be reduced to a sobbing wreck.
DAMN I wish the show was still on so we could get one of your model friends to go on it undercover, and say and do all kinds of sh** to mess with the judges!!! In like a very subtle and insidious way they wouldn't recognize, God that would have been awesome!!! And SO easy, with the judges anyway; I have a feeling the behind the scenes producers are much are much smarter though...
The focus was supposed to be on the sunglasses, but none of them actually wore the sunglasses, Mercedes’s sunglasses looked like a headband as it was hidden by her hair.
Shandi wore them. I think she's the only one. Probably because her pair wasn't very dark at all, so you can see her face just fine. I'm not sure I'd even call them sunglasses, to be honest.
I feel like it was there job to kinda take it thou!! Like when I'm at work my boss will yell at everyone and we can't back talk her or I'll get fired I feel it's kinda the same they're going on interviews for a job. If u didn't like The treatment leave u can't back talk them or ull get black listed.
It's hilarious that the gosee people being mean is exactly how the judges act all the time and they're like "wow you handled those questions so well, I would have slapped her" 👀👀
lmaoooo you are so gorgeous and that picture doesn't reflect it. I also think they used a lot of discriminatory words to describe Camille. Any time any one calls a Black women aggressive it is a whistle blower that they are problematic
Hi Jessica. He is actually translating the part when she said "I will be famous, I was chosen out of 6.000 girls..."

Thank you! You summed up the photographers' pretentious directing perfectly. "It doesn't have to be meaningful it just needs to be a cool pose."
I do a little acting and cosplaying on the side and I agree the Model/Actress just needs to have a chance to get into it. Once there's a shot or two she can have fun and embrace what she's trying to do.
20:36, he’s interpreting what she’s saying into Italian… it often sounds like an interpreter is talking over the person, but that’s just how it’s done
If someone was rude to me like that, I would be so flabbergasted that I couldn't even answer, but if I did, I would mostly be confused and maybe even cry :D
Tbh, these go sees challenges are wild. The designers especially... My god, were they asked to treat the models rudely?
Your vibe is always more interesting than their actual show was
Hi Jessica, I speak italian and to answer your question, when Camille was talking in the go-sees, the "not italian" guy was translating what she was saying.
The title of this video is literally every episode honestly lmao
P.S. Interesting how the non-white girls are always projected as ‘aggressive’.
Yup, exactly.
12:58 girl did you see Camille throw her head back? When they reveal they put together video clips. She knew she was about to be desecrated lmao
She knew they were gonna react Bad to all that she said 😂😂😂😂
I am one of those people who just needs to pick my battles all of time and I have dealt with people like the panel in my own family.
If they are modeling sunglasses maybe let them put the sunglasses on if the sun is in their eyes…
It’s not a handbag! Wear the damn glasses
"How old are you?"
"I'm whatever age you want me to be"
It's seems to be socially acceptable for Gay men to mistreat women.
Why was he translating when she spoke English clearly while asking a model how old she was?
Camille carries herself like a professional. Judges are just bitter that they cant bully her.
Oh no Jess throw that picture away. That man did you dirty 😂
LMAOOO!!!!!
i love how they took like "hidden camera" footage of the go see when the tv show's job is to film it with professional cameras. like what was the point
(Artsit speaking here) Jess that drawing DEFINITELY is not you omg haha. Loving the ANTM content gurl!
Again, they're attacking women of color by saying that they have "an attitude" and I think we are all sick of the stereotyping this show does to black women at this point.
Yeah. If a white girl gave that speech they’d be applauding her passion and confidence
"Oh ToO cOmMeRciAL" BUT Y'ALL PICKED HER TO COMPETE!!!!
I thought camile sounded really confident. & I loved her exit❤.
Shanti worked at Walgreens and one of the previous frontrunners was employed at Dairy Queen.
I wouldve mentioned being chosen out of 6k girls as well, but Im the type to ask for critiques if it seems unsatisfactory, like, "Well, if you have any critiques, let me know, but I WAS chosen out of 6k girls and am now in the top 5 😊."
I bet Tyra felt threatened by Camille. Just a feeling.
i’m commenting on this video too much, but 5 seconds after Mr. Jay said Mercedes could be a *Crest* girl, a *Crest* ad played on my phone 😂
Girl!!! Italy did you dirty!!! I'm SORRY!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Jess... Oh, that is not you, baby! 😂❤ The hair to the eyes. Nothing more.
I'm pretty sure he was translating what she was saying when he was talking over her
your hair is gorgeous in this vid!
And if they had more time im sure could they could have caught it
Judge: "Try to work on humility."
Also judge: "IT'SA ME, MARIO."
If this is a photo for sunglasses, could you please tell me where the sunglasses are? Or was this a test for the models to remind the costumer that they needed them?
I think having your sister react too was priceless- thanks
"...17 soft boxes.". Bahaha 😂
Haha, i love how you didn't hold back on the judges on this one jessica xD i felt like you were extra honest in this video
mr. jay: this is for sunglasses!
the final photos: have the sunglasses deliberately photoshopped out
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
At 20:20, where Michael is talking over Camille, he's translating what she's saying.
Nobody actually reacted to your drawing at the end but to be fair it is not good hahaha. Do love the reaction video as always ❤
I agree with the first comment, he does sound like he is interpreting Italian word for word and it does make sense but
wait a minute, since when is Italian not an ethnicity? It is both an ethnicity and a nationality!
"People that care nothing for our culture" - He has not said anything about what he thinks about Italy or his connections, so why are you assuming? I think you also need to take into account that you would need to sound at least a bit stereotypical for this kind of show, it's probably what they wanted (no, that doesn't mean it's good or a good representation).
I love your videos! You make me laugh. I love your commentary. Thats the best part of the videos.
I was ready to condemn Camille for her ego. But after listening to these smug judges, I think a model needs a steel spine to survive such people. Without that, she could be reduced to a sobbing wreck.
20:00 i think he was translating for the other woman what camille was saying. i thought he was talking over her too at first.
that camille scene will forever be iconic 😂
The earlier seasons were obviously more about modeling and less about tv this was a good shoot
He's an Italian-American, pretending to be Italian, pretending to speak English. 😂😂😂
The guy was translating Camille's English to Italian.
He wasn’t talking over her. He was translating English to Italian for the lady 😂😅😂
Yessss another antm video 😍
He wasn't talking over Camille he was translating
The freeze frames you choose get me every time lool
Camille had to go because she wouldn't take any sh**!
I love your videos 😭 you should make more vlogs!!! And do some ranking videos!!! Tell us your ideas 💡 and what your opinion is on stuff!
The end bit; maybe the artist was drawing it at an angle...? The proportions are quite skewed, but it's not as bad as I was expecting 😂
You’re sister is funny lol and Camille was my favorite and they brought her back for all stars lol
It's hilarious that the gosee people being mean is exactly how the judges act all the time and they're like "wow you handled those questions so well, I would have slapped her" 👀👀
That’s what I was thinking too!
lmaoooo you are so gorgeous and that picture doesn't reflect it. I also think they used a lot of discriminatory words to describe Camille. Any time any one calls a Black women aggressive it is a whistle blower that they are problematic
Hi Jessica. I am Italian so I can explain to you, when the "fake Italian" 😂 is talking over while Camille is talking it is because he is translating to the woman (she is a real Italian) the things that camille is saying. He is actually translating the part when she said "I will be famous, I was chosen out of 6.000 girls..."
I wish I could say I match rude energy, I do not. My initial reaction is to be more apologetic and what Tyra said, where I’d say ok I can look or walk however you want me to. I wish I could stick up for myself more though!
