It’s so weird that Tyra said “you’re responsible for directing the shoot” when Alexandria got in trouble for that multiple times on cycle 16. She was placed in the bottom for “over directing” and trying to do Jay’s job, but now suddenly, Lisa is responsible for directing her coworkers? 🤨
This part!
Tyra has never been consistent ever , she has told some models one thing and then gotten mad cycles later when someone does exactly what she said. Those girls were set up for failure from the Beginning smh
🌈Fake excuses🌈
Tell ‘em! That’s exactly what I was thinking. If I could I’d point this out! It’s totally a “got ya!”
Literal psychological torture lol
What killed me was the Express lady saying Shannon skewed too commercial. Woman, your stores have been in every mall in the US since I was in college. You are the definition of "commercial."
This! 😂🤦🏾♀️
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes! And that she wouldn’t choose her based on what she saw during the shoot… but the judges loved her photo. 😑 Just a mess. The Express lady seemed out of touch with who their customer was.
What I found painful is (in that era, I don't know if they've progressed in the last decade) that literally zero clothing items would be available in a size the Express corporate rep could wear. That's a sick irony, and may explain (but not excuse) why she was so hostile and negative about the contestants.
If she's so judgemental why not have her replaced with someone that fits her standards? God I hate society.
They dressed Alexandria up like Nancy Regan and they’re wondering why she doesn’t look young 🤯
Nancy Reagan 🤣🤣🤣 this made me laugh too much
Not NANCY REGAN 💀
They LOVE setting these women up to fail. It's seriously their favorite thing.
Exactly 💯
I saw this suit on a guy 10 years older than her (Alexandria shoot)! Of course she model older, that what the suit's vibes are giving me, I can't imagine her!!
The judges all look so irritated at the models for being honest with them and it’s giving me life lmao
Especially Lisa!
I love how Jessica says "dont be a hater" while she roasts the male models ad nauseum. I love how Jessica says she's not a psychologist but then plays arm chair psychology. I love how Jessica picks apart everything one person says for minutes on end but then will selectively choose to ignore or gloss over everything another person says (Bianca's unkind comments about the girls). The hypocrisy of it all.
This is Alex Jones fox news territory with the "mask" conspiracy theories tangents.
Something we never saw in the original seasons😂😂😂
@@drelevatorlestrange we saw it with Adrienne and Elyse cycle 1, Camille cycle 2, Jennipher cycle 3 and Nargis in auditions, Tiffany cycle 4, Victoria cycle 9, etc etc etc. But yes, as you say, we never ever saw it in the original -cycles- "seasons".
Poor Alexandria! They criticized her for seeming too old but they put her in an all red power suit. The clothes scream executive in her 50s not a “flirt” in her 20s. This show is a mess, Jessica you’re the best for doing these reviews! ❤
They literally styled her to look like Hillary Clinton and then blamed her for looking too old lol
Also, they styled her hair in a way she can't move it or play with it, what really takes away some of the edginess of her look .
@@Laramaria2YES! WHYYYY did they do her hair like that??
She was doing well in her shoot until jay spoke 😂
😂Yes! That, and the high-powered, lady music executive hair.
I love how their criticism of Lisa is that she cared about people on the set instead of being a selfish diva. 😂😂😂
Notice how these ‘grown up’ models don’t agree anymore with what Tyra says? Usually the young new ones always nod in agreement and always seem scared up there. But I see 2 confident women standing there not giving a f*ck about what Tyra says
The male models were probably too afraid to tell the client etc how hungry they were because they probably would've been fired or yelled at like the girls.
Lisa is awesome for bringing it up. I think it's her way of saying hey guys if ur gonna hire 3 male models, feed them.
Right?? They were shooting all day where the girls got to switch out. TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN PEOPLE.
Specially considering that the girls probably had several breaks while waiting for each other's photoshoot, while the guys were present in every single one of them. You can tell in the photos just how fed up they were of it, they were probably there a whole day without eating, that's crazy.
I'm willing to bet Bianca said "Out of all the girls here, I'm the model with the most experience in these type of shoots" or something like that, and they cut it to make her seem entitled
It's still very entitled (in my opinion) if she said it just like that because Bre, her best friend that season, was also modeling a lot after her original season so it's (metaphorically) a slap in the face to her... and ...probably Bianca went and said to Camille and Bre she said that because look at Camille and Bre how embarrased they look around Bianca at that moment... they don't even look at her after her shoot... they look angry at Bianca...
@@Jose_Manuel_Loge from what I’ve read, apparently she meant it as that was her bread and butter in comparison to most of the girls who moved on to other sectors of entertainment, so she knows how shoots and the business are *supposed* to be conducted. However, this is reality tv - not true modeling.
@@Jose_Manuel_Logeyeah was just bout to say the same thing. like she’s better than everyone. you can think that bout yourself but don’t express (pun intended) that out loud. but i think it was a misunderstanding
Omg 😂 the way Lisa looks so unbothered by anything the judges say is priceless 😂
She's like, I got used to this b.s.!
@@afrosamuraiwarrior she’s mentioned she grew up with a narc mother, she probably spotted the same behavior in the judges and production 😭😂
@@CaulkMongler no wonder Tyra is narcissistic!
She's the best. She was eliminated on an amazing photo because they felt she was "too much". Literally ignoring the course of the show to just pick favorites.
She knows them too well they screw her on her cycle and Tyra wanted to use her trauma not only on antm but on the Tyra show for ratings
From what I recall hearing in interviews about this season, there usually wasn't food provided for the models. There's an episode later on where Bianca ordered some pickles and when Allison tried to eat one, Bianca called her out on it. I remember Allison was almost in tears, saying, "I'm just hungry." So I totally believe that the male models were not fed. Good on Lisa for calling them out on it.
This season was a MESSSSS
I love how Lisa is smirking and practically rolling her eyes when Tyra is giving her "advice" at the end, like "uh huh Tyra, we all know this whole thing is bullshit" 😂😂
Telling Lisa it was her responsibility to direct the shoot was ridiculous. What's the point in having a creative director then if you expect the model to direct the shoot.
Wait, are you implying that a model's job is to model and a creative director's job is to direct the shoot? How dare you spelling basic facts to this show
especially if this shoot wasn’t that anyways. i think they’ve done a shoot before where the models actually are in charge and have to set things up and pose. like i said this isn’t like that. it’s a shoot for express so idk why tyra mentioned lisa should’ve directed the shoot like huh. i could be wrong tho.
Lisa has said repeatedly that the production never provided food, that they had to buy their own. During her first time in ANTM she had money saved up so she'd buy food for the girls who couldn't pay for it.
Also it's not the director's job in any set to be in charge of fooood! That's why you have a producer to hire a caterer
If that was normal in the modeling world, those men would have been used to it.
They were questioning it. It wasn't normal.
I'm the real world, people eat.
but didn't she say they provided alcohol?
@@sabias3932 No food + alcohol = drama
sounds like something they'd do
@@sabias3932 now if you were a “reality tv” producer, do you think starving your contestants and liquoring them up would make for a high stress, high drama environment?
I think your commentary is spot-on, Jessica, and why they didn't do another All-Stars season after this one; the girls were too clued in to what was going on in the show and they couldn't get away with their typical antics.
"She's a little commercial" says the woman from a MALL STORE.
And then Nigel repeated it. THEY ARE SELLING MALL CLOTHES.
It’s not a commercial shoot. It’s an Editorial commercial is like Target kids playing in the garage
I like how at the end when Lisa's name was called, she stopped for a second and hugged Camille, because showing support to Camille was more important to her in that moment rather than going up to get her picture (normally it's grab picture and then offer hug to the person voted off)
I also love how when Tyra said, "Then why are you both standing here?", they both looked at each other because they knew it was horseshit.
Maybe I’m off… but I never thought of Express as a “younger” brand. I would have thought their target demographic is like 30-50
I always thought 21-35 for college grads to older millennials. Then again, I only wandered in Express Men on occasion when I was in college (circa Cycle 17 give or take).
Scrolling through their IG, I'd be very inclined to believe you. Probably more inclusive with the times but the looks are very much casual stuff for work or a restaurant.
I didn't know their beauty line became Bath and Body Works which is VERY fitting.
@@fortunes_youtube I was probably 10-15 looking at Express. So I knew it wasn’t kid school clothes so in my brain it was just became old people clothes. But I think I had the wrong perception of it. Lol
Girl this place is so expensive i have never shopped here in my life. However, i think it’s just never been my style 😂
Express screams teens/twenties trying to look older to me
@@jenneli314I'm 35 and for sure wouldn't wear their clothes. It screems that to me too 😅
This was one of the most uncomfortable and disturbing seasons, mainly when the models post-show spoke out against the show about behind-the-scenes that we did not get to see. First, when the male models complained about not having to get to eat when the girls in the competition, like Bre had spoken out on the show about intentionally having them starved the whole day so that they would forced to have drama. Second, when Bianca said that "I'M THE MODEL," it was taken out of context because of editing, what she meant was out of the current competitors, she was one of the few that still was a current working model when the others had moved on with other careers like Allison, Camille, etc. and she expressed like what Jessica mentioned that Bianca is fully aware how the models are treated and how photo shoots are supposed to be in the real world of modeling. Bianca could have reworded better, but she had a longer career than some for a reason. Lastly, as an ALLSTAR edition, they are working with great girls but damn this composition is LAZY AF; damn, Mr.Jay must've been overpaid over doing nothing. Jessica, can we get a lesson on elements of composition on what you are looking for in your photo shoots?
Alexandria was 22 in this photo shoot, and I don’t know how they made her look twice her age this photoshoot.
The suit fit/color, the buttons, that necklace, the makeup and the weird hair swoop 😂 they did her so dirty (even by 2000s standards)
The amount of times they told these girls in their 20s that they look old is crazy.
I dont see any rude and aggressive models, I see rude and aggressive judges.
I love how that one judge summed up the entire modeling/fashion/beauty industry and standards (mostly for women) in three words "STARVE AND POSE"!
No 18-year-old woman or a woman in her 20s would wear that red suit. That’s something my grandmother would’ve worn. They did Alexandria dirty. Tyra clearly didn’t know her target demographic. 😉
Every girl here is an amazing model. Look how good all of them are doing. I love Bianca spoke up she called him out on it “I want more!” That’s not direction and she knows it! That’s right. Good for Bianca.
The fact that Allison lived in nigals mind rent free is crazy he always complained that she was too awkward but no one else complained about her. He was obsessed with her on her original season and all stars as well.
She went on to be super successful
They brought three male models because they knew Kyla is a rape survivor and she had a major issue with it in her season (I'm pretty sure you covered that episode previously, I think it's the one they shoot a commercial while rollerskating). It's like when they do a "height" photoshoot or bring spiders when they know a girl has a phobia, but much more sinister.
Another thing about the all star season is that most of the contestants are 25+, Camile and the other girl from season 1 are closer to 30 (I remember at the time I was surprised they were casted at all, bc the show always goes on and on about how undesired "older" models are). Which means they are much harder to manipulate. Usually the contestants are 18-21 and it's much easier for the production to do as they wish with them...
Along with Tyra's "amateur" comment towards Bianca, she specifically told another girl that she's clearly been modeling since her original cycle. I dont remember Tyra ever really liking Bianca, even in her original cycle.
Also I like how they ASK Lisa what was going on and she answered honestly, but they just hear "excuses". What did they want her to say??? It's just a set-up question.
Do you know why? They wanted honesty from her but in a way they wanted...
the express lady talking about shannon being 'too commercial' as if it's a bad thing..... you can walk into any mall and find an express what's more commercial than that
"When I go out in public I'm just trying to get back home unscathed," is the most relatable thing I've ever heard.
Same.
I’m sorry but Camille being blamed for them choosing the shot where she’s slipping and then putting her in the bottom for daring to call it out is disgustingly immature and unprofessional, which is really the epitome of this awful show. Also calling her rude and aggressive is a bit racist imo
Great commentary as always, Jessica
Agreed 100%!
“Starve and pose” is crazy 🌚 like it’s the male models who were hungry why they tell her that SHE is making excuses like
I felt like Nigel's micro expression (with Camille) was him being impressed and proud of her for recognizing how they screwed her over, he was like, "good for you."

Camille was so unbothered by being eliminated because she already knew it was all bullshit anyway lmfao
Another note: since Jessica mentioned how the models are expected to be a part of the marketing of the shoot (not their job), remember in Cycle 5 when Julie revealed she wanted to be in fashion merchandising and Tyra got mad at her? 😂 Because she wasn't dying to be a model?
Yet, the models have to learn everything. 🤔🧐
I honestly believe Nigel was tired of all the antics on the show as well. He was just getting a check. In outside interviews he did, including the one with Oliver, it seems like he noticed Top Model wasn't really a show worthy of the real world, but he kept playing along.
Are you saying he's started to notice how the show has been set up?
@afrosamuraiwarrior Nigel has said that he would pick the very best photos of each girl. But then at the judging table an entirely different photo would pop up. He noticed but was loyal to Tyra and never stood up for the girls
@@TheChachaful oh wow! Thanks for your comments!
The way Camille hugged Lisa, with a genuine feeling was not the same as when she hugged Tyra. She knew at this point why she was asked to come back, just give drama, and she didn't give it to them because she's too mature for that.
What irritates me about the criticisim Alexandria received is they imply that she looks old, yet they put her in a stupid pantsuit that looks like something an older woman would wear. They set her up so they could say that.
Lisa’s face when getting that “grovel because we didn’t cut you” Tyra speech at the end was so eloquently giving “I’m so tired of Tyra’s BS”
Did yall notice how all the other girls had contrasting colors to the males models? like white or red, but they gave Lisa the same black/gray colors.
"I wanna be rich in Animal Crossing" 😂
As someone who used to do retail for Express, their demographic is like the mid to late 20s - 50s ish crowd that are professionals or feel like being bougie from time to time. You don’t really find 18 year olds wearing express unless they have the “cool mom” like the Mean Girls.
"Whoever shot this really just did not care."
You hit the nail on the head Jessica
Sloppy lighting, no depth, weak so-called poses, and even the images that were kind of good, like Allison's picture had glaring errors in them.
Let's be real. It looks like the male model was trying to grab her cr0tch.
It's Mr. Jay's (stop giving bad advice),
the photographer's (fix your lighting and angles) , and the client's (should have spoken up) fault that these images suck.
Mr. Jay is the real villain out in the field, Tyra is the ringleader, the others just hop on board with her because they need to feel relevant. They try to make the models look like clowns. The whole thing is a problematic three ring circus.
Dominique looks like a flirt, a cool girl, and a socialite at the same time! That’s how good she did.
I’ve seen interviews with Lisa and she’s called out the editing tricks and manipulation tactics they’ve used on the multiple seasons she’s been on.
They give Alexandria a pantsuit and a hairdo that many middle aged women rock and then complain that she looks "older". I'm sure the red pantsuit is what Express puts on all the billboards to lure in the teens/early 20s people >.
""so she's the caterer now??" lmao I love your comments
“The flirts are never gonna buy this blazer and this giant furry vest” 😂😂
Gurl, you were DRAGGING Nigel on this episode. To be fair, he deserves it 😂
Sometimes I wish I could see the camera roll that Tyra was looking at. She says she picks their best picture, but it's reality TV and I'm sure she's picked some bad ones on purpose.
Some of the girls have said they have used actual test shots as their "best photo" and they weren't allowed to say anything.
this might be an odd comment but ty for whatever youre doing for your audio balancing, since antm is so much quieter usually when im watching react videos i can't hear the antm clips at all because people will be shouting into the mic or have their voice WAY louder than the show. i appreciate being able to hear what's going on and also pay attention to what you're saying 😭
I love how Angelea came up with a WHOLE character and background for this photo shoot. I lived. 😂
"i just wanna be.....rich in animal crossing" jessica is so precious😭😭😭
Oh, my! The mask is lifted and all of their expressions speak volumes! Lisa looked so over it at the end!!
The gaslighting in this show is ridiculous, always blaming the models when they’re the ones putting them in these situations, just ridiculous 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Nigel had to fight down a nod when Camille called them out
Honestly they should have never done an all star season if they didn’t want to be called out by the contestants who know what’s going on 🤣
it's crazy watching this as an adult and understanding how twisted they are and how this influenced me into being a pushover especially in my jobs...
Huh? You had like no parents? You people watch too much tv
@@alejandromolinac I said it influenced me not that it raised me lmao maaaany other factors influence that in someone's life just like trauma, yes I have and always had parents but the world is cruel as it is good too, not all of us get to be confident from the start with no complications but at least I developed empathy through that unlike you
I think these reactions should come with bingo cards. You get a point every time a judge calls a contestant old-looking, every time a judge give contradictory advice to a contestant, every time Mr. Jay gives bad direction, every time Tyra brings up her own photoshoots, etc.
love the idea - also got me thinking that a drinking game with these rules kill us all lol
Loved Camille speaking up the truth!!! She clearly caught them judges off guard.
I don't think she was trying to be cocky when she said "I'm the model". I think she meant that out of everybody there she's the only one with modeling as a real life job. She knows how modeling works. None of the other girls are models
She was frustrated. Like am I in the Twilight Zone? They are still doing this? This is what they are selling real world modeling as?!?!
These shots were a mess. I'm sorry. 🙄 I've seen plenty of Express campaigns, and they were more professional and sophisticated than this. Makes me convinced more that some of these well known concept shoots were sabotage for the girls.
If the models are responsible for directing the shoot, they should just replace Jay with a giant mirror.
Tyra was always threatened by Camille because she resembles Naomi and like you said she's not easily manipulated.
I loved this season because it brought back a lot of my favorites. Also the acting was for CSI and it didn't make sense for them to only have a limited time to memorize it. They don't do that to real actors.
You're right Jessica. Tyra can be out of touch. Especially after not modeling for how many years, she's not aware as much as she thinks she is.
I know very little about the modeling industry, but I expect that it's changed a great deal over the years since Tyra herself was a model.
I think Bianca could've said it better than "I'M the model", but I love how she and others have called out this show this cycle with their antics. Especially the episode when they had to play in a tub of water. Like really? Now they have to start making excuses for the show. Ironic since they say the girls always make excuses.
Really, the worst thing this show did (for its own sake, I mean) was have an All-Star Cycle, because all the girls on that cycle knew the ins and outs of the show (from their own cycles) and weren't afraid to call the judges out on their antics. Remember the music video shoot where the girls all worked so hard on their songs, then Tyra came in and made them add "pot ledom" to their shoots? The girls were basically like, "what."
The amount of abuse that this show put Lisa through is astounding. watching seasons with her in it hurts bc i know she was hurting
Everytime I see trya disrespect a black model; it pisses me off. She never missed an opportunity to talk about how Naomi was never "there" for her as a sister or whatever. Yet any black model with confidence and strong face she would call or let others call her names like the B word or rude or arrogant. Stereotypes for women especially black women affect our pockets. What she did was sabotage people careers by projecting a behaviour that these girls never had to stop them from working.
i remember lisa making a tiktok about both of her experiences on her original seasons and the all stars and …. the tea was piping hot!
"It's very provocative" "Is it??" gave me so much life
Funny thing.. Tyra blocked Lisa on social media earlier this year and Lisa has gone on podcasts exposing the toxicity of ANTM
When she said me in my early 20s I was shookk jessica!!! I thought you were in your early 20s 😭😭
She has a YT channel of 2m followers, has been reacting to ANTM content since 2020 and has been a professional photographer since years before that. No way is she younger than 30
I wish one of the contestants had said "Oh, I apologize. I thought this was ANTM, not "America's Next Top Director, Photographer, Stylist, Caterer, and Key Grip". Jesus.
If she stopped the whole shoot for them to eat she would have been told "that's not your job, and in the "rEaL wOrLd" no client would allow a model to control a shoot like that. You. Can. Not. Win. I love Lisa in this thought. After hearing about her ordeal with the cycle 5 reunion and that incredibly deep and traumatic betrayal, I just love how she's carrying herself through 17. You can tell that she isn't rabid to be there like a wide-eyed newbie. She knows them. She knows they don't care about her. She knows there is no real winning in the criticism. You can just tell by the looks on her face when Tyra is handing her the picture that she knows Tyra is so endlessly fake.
It’s so crazy watching these episodes with your commentary. I really love your perspective. ❤
And as someone in their 40s, it brings me so much joy when you point out all the patriarchal nonsense meant to belittle, and trivialize these women. Which Tyra spearheads. The whole attitude from her is, “I was treated this way so I’m going to make sure you are treated like 💩.” Tyra could have made a much more supportive environment to empower women but she chose to tear them down.
You calling it out is everything and shows me how much progress has been made at teaching young women they have worth beyond their looks. Thank you, for pointing these moments out to your viewers! Keep up the great work!
Entire all-stars season was such a hot mess
"DIRECT THE SHOOT"
"STARVE AND POSE"
*WHAT?????????*
The judges always blame the models for the pictures they choose
5:10 to 5:46 great explanation. I always thought it's the sole model's fault for the entire shoot when photo gots worst picture when in fact it's the team production sets each responsibility and accountability.
We already know this show should be called America's Next Top Gaslight smh
"which one of you guys is the cool chick?" Ended me 😅😅😅
Which All Star photo shoot should Jess react to next? Maybe the first one, the live judging, or the hot dog one, after their makeovers? Bonus if she reacts to the makeovers too, right?

I felt bad for Kayla, I remember her season she didn't want to work with the male models due to trauma, again, they brought 3 men without a heads up.
They also did the swimsuit and underwear photoshoots, knowing they could get some drama with Shanon. And all the bright sunlight shoots so they can call Alison difficult. They already knew the "weaknesses" of the girls, so it's even more obvious how scripted all of it was
Alexandria reminds me of Lauren Bacall, who was 19 when filming her first movie with Bogart. She didn't look 19, she looked older, which is why the chemistry isn't creepy to look at nowadays. So Alexandria looks "older!" That's fine with me.
Alexandria doesn’t even look older, the way they dressed and styled her made her look older.

How were the ANTM judges this delusional? It actually seems like they believe what they're saying
I didn't like that red suit on Alexandria. Made her look too old. What did they expect??? They want these models to look "young", but then put these outfits or makeovers that make them look older.
The slicked back hair didn't help
This show had so many red flags. Tyra blames the models for everything. And judges had problems.

"That's a GREAT question, I can't even interact with one" 😂 Girl I feel you
I’m ashamed to say I used to like Tyra, now I just roll my eyes every time her or her show comes up.
I get what the judge meant about Kaylas picture being provocative, i think it is a little bit. There's something about the fact that shes the only one looking directly at us, her eye contact in contrast to everyone else looking away, is nice.
Always enjoy your videos
Luxeria and you should really collaborate one of theses days ❤ much love from Montreal 🇨🇦
Luxeria is everything ❤
So, the two that called out the staff are the bottom two. Got it.
You hit the nail right on the head with your last comment. "They dont like her because she's not malleable". Amen! The judges and Mr. Jay HATE when any of the contestants deign to disagree with them. It's all about control.
And Mr. Jay reminds me of student directors I worked with in drama school in college who basically said "Don't do that". Or "Act better" and just didn't know how to help actors with their performances.
Also, I don't think any 18 year-olds would buy that suit. I LIKE the suit. But I'm 54. 😊
(Also, Lisa was absolutely right. The show sets up the contestants to fail.)
To me it sounded like Lisa was probably commiserating with the boys about being hungry. She said she didn't want to push them too hard. She was probably like yeah, this is BS that we haven't been provided with food. So she was kinda calling out the judges. Like if you guys had fed us we wouldn't have had that problem.
Great video as always. And I adore the top you're wearing!❤
