This song is actually the "acoustic" version, an insert song from Tokyo Ghoul Root A. It consists of TK's singing onto a piano backing, and it's on G flat minor instead of G minor.
I've tried this new angle and editing so I can include the lyrics and pictures from the manga. Would you guys like to see this style again? My goal was to have the audience strongly remember and relive the story and characters of Tokyo Ghoul as well.

He tried desperately to protect his loved ones(anteiku) from the enemies(aogiri tree) but in the end failed to do so costing his life. I do not see how he is connected to this statement. Even if he turned evil, he still has kindness. Not like im darkness where evil exist only.

Aside from that, some alt pop and pop punk artists (Melanie Martinez, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons etc) have some really deep shit in their music. Melanie sings about drug abuse, kidnapping and depression in her lyrics - FOB sings about suicide, mental issues (including anxiety and depression) and politics.
Imagine Drags however sing about self-seeking and worth, accepting yourself for who you are and beating your inner demons.
If you talk about generic pop played on the radio, however, then it is absolute horse shit. I agree with you whole heartedly, and that's the reason why I stopped listening to radio and put my own music on instead.

The opening is basically a symbolism and synopsis for the whole plot of Tokyo Ghoul.

Another thing is the lyric in the song that says "please dont find me/look at me" and "remember who I am" which means that Kaneki doesnt want Hide to see and find out that he is a ghoul and wants him to remember the old him (the normal and innocent Kaneki).

Try to make it like this: Think that you have to continue, be a strong knight in a world of hard challenges. Glory is achieved through pain, and even though it looks unbearable, most of the times it is made to be like torture, it generally don't kill you, but make a big suffering. I've been waiting for someone do to a piano version of the acoustic ever since I heard in at the end of Root A and this did not disappoint. Have you caught up on the Tokyo Ghoul Re: Manga? Because there are some pretty amazing screenshots you could have used but they may give slight spoilers (not really if you remove the dialogue though)

Kaneki went so much pain. From being a normal human, he was forced to become a murderer, even worse a cannibal. He hesitates, he hungers himself and cuts all ties from others. All the people, friends, even family, he is forced to cut ties for their sakes.

I know, I’m an awful person. I’ve never watched Tokyo Goul and I will get to it someday. Besides that though, I feel like this song played on the piano (especially this video) gives a feeling that anyone can die and any moment and it could even be you or someone you love. Just think about it though, that is scary. And it doesn’t just have to be a quick death, it can be a slow painful one. That is what I feel listening to this cover.

That drawing if Kaneki when he first wakes up as a half-ghoul makes me cry like CRAZY everytime I see it... It just reminds me of how innocent and tired he was as his human self, with his half-shut human eye, and then his widely open ghoul eye that took over his body and brings him all the corruption his soul suffered from, especially when he was tortured by Jason. This drawing just means so much.
EDIT : I have to add something : I've been singing this so much that my voice is now broken and I can't go as high as before 😭 I hope I'll be able to sing it 681740973 times a day again soon

TG was emotional in an unsettling way, like a feeling you don't wanna feel. Something that might make you numb, it just stays right there. Man I loved the storyline so much, doesn’t matter how messy the anime was. Hope TG gets a reboot to show everyone how this could have beaten most anime in terms of story and animation.

I'm never be able to hear Unravel as a meme song again after seeing the whole Tokyo Ghoul series, everytime I hear this now, all those sad scenes keep flashing to my brain.
This song is so beautiful. Whenever I can actually understand the lyrics I tear up. Its a song about someone broken who's given up trying to get back to the person they once were. They know the person they are now can't coexist with the self that was happier, and for the people they know that are looking on at this shell of a person to remember that happy person they miss. Remember who I was so the thought of who I've become doesn't destroy you too. There is so much energy even in a lyric-less piano cover.
