On Ghost love score the drummer and therefore drum kit was a different one, at Wacken 2013 Jukka Nevalainen was still with Nightwish and he played on TAMA drums. When he had to step back from performing and touring with the band because of health issues his friend Kai Hahto ( from Wintersun) took over and he plays this Pearl setup.

9:04 No, it's not for self-monitoring, but exactly for the feedback effect that Emppu sometimes uses in songs. 29:42 I don't think Kai uses triggers to make the bass drums sound even - he's an incredibly technical drummer (like at the Dream Theater skill level) and he wouldn't need it. I think it's used more to achieve a certain sound.
@@AndreasAsbeck Let me guess: You've never heard Wintersun, you've never seen Kai's drum clinics, and you just stupidly assumed that since Nightwish's music is not as sophisticated as Dream Theater's, the idea that Kai's drum technique might be at their drummers level seemed laughable to you. Right?
I've seen a lot of stuff from nightwish, but i didn't know this gear video. Thanks for walking us through. That was fascinating, even though i have no business in any of that stuff myself. I'm also looking forward to you exploring NW. I'm a big fan of both - Nightwish and The Warning and have seen quite a lot of reactions to NW and also quite a lot of reactions by you. I didn't realise at all, that there hasn't been any overlap in the past.

Dany from The Warning was gifted a Line 6 Helix and later on she tried the Kemper Profiler, and now if I not mistaken, this is what she uses full time.
also, keep in mind, this video is older, Kai changed all the lugs to black before the virtual show, so the version of ProTool probably was updated for the Human Nature Tour... hard to find that info online.
The green pedal you referenced looks like it may be a Lehle amp switcher. Great switcher used on a LOT of stages. Has the 3 big mushroom head footswitches on it.
Great vid. Not seen this NW vid before and looking through your videos, I have found a great and varied new archive to binge. Looking forward to you checking out some more NW and other bands I love that you've covered. Subbed and cheers.

One thing you might encounter are comments/arguments about the female vocalists. I ride or die with Floor tbh but the other two helped make NW what it is and put them on the map so love for all of them. What might get lost is that NW has ackhsyually *pushes glasses back up bridge* had 4 great vocalists. The former bassist who left after 20 years with the band - Marko - has a genuinely impressive set of lungs. NW did a tribute/cover of High Hopes by Pink Floyd and he absolutely kills it and shows the full range of his chops. Something to look out for if that appeals in particular. Other than that, no two songs are quite alike so enjoy. Loving your other vids so far. Peace from the UK.

Emppu does not use the Kemper anymore. He has switched to the Quad Cortex. Its all midi programmed but he still has a cab on stage.
