The main thing I need to know ASAP is *exactly and specifically* what the Pangea guy meant in the video about the build in Florida when he said you can never leave an earthship, ever, for more than two days. That's the deciding factor as to whether earthships are for me. I love the idea, but I'm not working my ass off to get out of the rat race only to become trapped by my house.

That's a great question. Yes the systems need to be watched all the time. There are several solutions to this but the main one is putting it on Airbnb and having a book there giving directions as to what to do while you're gone. This is a solution that many other people have used.

Rammed earth is a much better option. Look up David Easton on rammed earth, get his books and study them. Earthships are crap.

People have been building out of earth for 100s of years, and not a tire, can, bottle, trash, in site. This is just a crappy idea on an very old principle. Pounding earth in tires is not necessary and just stupid. And as far as food production goes, no earthship ever built can, or will produce enough food for one person let alone a family.
You want a good looking house then study rammed earth and straw bale construction. Read everything that David Easton has on rammed earth. And then you will have some good ideas.
