Over the course of five studio albums and thousands of live shows in the U.S. and abroad, JJ has emerged from the backwoods of Florida to perform on concert stages across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia. Now, with Brighter Days, the galvanizing power of a JJ Grey & Mofro concert has finally been captured on film and CD. The 78-minute CD and 2-hour DVD were recorded at Atlanta's Variety Playhouse in January 2011. The film, directed by filmmaker Spookie Daly, intersperses captivating live footage with band interviews and insightful commentary from Grey and others.

JJ I absolutely love the feeling you and the Mofro band express in your music. I am 62 and have had seizures for 25 yrs. I can't be around groups of people because it makes them worse. I basically don't go anywhere. My neurologist told me yesterday that I can't go to church anymore because of the seizures the emotions I get there causes them to come on. I listen to your music and others loud so I feel like I'm there. I even put my Bowes speaker on me so I can feel the vibrations. Just wanted to let you know how you touch so many of us who can't leave home. You make us feel like we are getting a private concert!! Thank you!! Can't wait to hear more and keep on with the harmonica!! I play that instrument and enjoy it very much!! RD

I have been going to see these cats. Since the late 90s .. I just them a week and hf ago and He crushed like he always does.. I have seen hundreds of concerts in and all the bands. But noneof them have that real Southern rock bluesy gospel soul thing happening. JJ takes all the great elements of southern music and injects them Into his songs. I just saw them for the 15 -20th time a we l and a half ago nn Little Rock in smallest venue. I have ever seen them in . JJ and the boys crushed live. Like they always do
I keep coming back to this video over the past 4-5 years. So uplifting!! Southern blues-soul-rock meets baptist preacher....JJ makes you feel it down to your bones ❤❤

I saw JJ Grey and MoFro at the 9:30 Club in Northwest Washington DC,very small venue,rough neighborhood.
Around Christmas time in 2017. My boss bought the tickets,we were traveling for work,he was from Ocala Florida,I from Northern California. My boss just smiled all the way to the show in the taxi,he knew. I've seen upwards of 175 shows over the years,so he knew how much I appreciated good music. To this day,I don't think I'll ever see someone put as much energy, passion,soul and everything of his very being into the music he's playing not 25' from you. I stood in front of the stage for the entire show completely awed and with the hair on my neck standing straight up,those of you out there who know the feeling,just simply know.
Was turned on this song about a year ago. Fell in love the very first time I heard it. There are some songs that stand above the rest. Lochloosa is and will always be one of my all time favorites.
His energy into his music is intoxicating.

After finding JJ and Mofro via Marc Broussard on you tube, I feel I have been living on another planet or in a cave. Such a talent that I had never heard before. What a "real authentic voice with so much power and soul. I hear a mix or blend of Joe Cocker and Darius Rucker. A voice that demands listening to and his song writing is as good as his voice.

SS Wonderful Hell yea. I literally stumbled upon this man at a spookstock festival near St. Louis in 2007. Was called mofro and this song was playing. Fell in love. Have seen him soooo many times now since then. I love this shit for life.

I just found this wonderful man singing some of the best music I had ever heard in such a long time.
i listen to more music than most people i know. all across the spectrum. its nearly not normal the amount of music i listen to. live music being my personal way to listen. this is top 5 all time. period. this band is moving and talented and it shows amazingly well in their live performances. i am at a loss for words how good this is.

Just discovered JJ this year. Went to go see Jamie Johnson and Blackberry Smoke. Side musician by the beer garden was jamming Whiskey Myers... asked if he knew any JJ. Said "no". Some random dude walked up behind me and "belted" ...."HOME SICK BUT ITS, ALRIGHT"!!!!! Went nuts!! We sang the whole song!!! FANTASTIC ♡♡♡

I pray that Spyglass Winery will have them again in Pennsylvania. Absolutely fantastic. The energy is amazing. Can't wait to see the fellas again. Would love to shake everyone's hand in the band and on the crew.

I'm almost 2 years in, he was the headliner at a concert that I went to for the openers(Marc Broussard and Jonny Lang)...was going to leave before he came on because I had to work the next morning and it was 100 degrees out, but being a music Lover I thought I'd listen to a couple of songs, needless to say I was really tired at work the next morning...haha

From what I've read he's been around for a long time and has quite a following so it's beyond me that I hadn't heard of him till the end of last year and was instantly hooked. I grew up with the Blues all around me due to my oldest brother and grew up listening to soul and rock n roll. I just don't get how he's managed to stay hidden all this time. Lol. But yeah, I see him as bigger than Springsteen by far. This guy is the real deal and never have heard a white boy that could sing the blues like this guy can, other than the friend that turned on to JJ.

I saw them on New Years Eve last night in Fort Myers, Florida, at the Buckingham Blue Bar. I didn't even know they existed two days ago. My wife found them by accident. I went two hours early, and was about 5 feet from the stage. To say I was blown away by the live performance is an understatement. Best I can describe he and his band is a combo of Joe Cocker, the Blues Brothers Band, George Thorogood and Bruce Springsteen. That good. I can't believe I never heard them before. What a great story teller, too. Can play a mean guitar.

This guy gets down deep into my guts man... saw him live last summer in Santa Cruz and I will ALWAYS love him - his music comes from his soul. No one could sing those words the way he does without feeling them, he's lived what he plays.

I saw JJ Grey & Mofro six months ago from a friend's suggestion. I had no idea what I was in for. He blew me away. I have been to 100's of concerts. I have a top 10 list of the best shows I have seen in the last 40 years. JJ broke into that list. I had the pleasure of seeing him & his band again last week. Another stellar performance! I can't wait until he comes back to Omaha, hopefully for a weekend show instead of midweek. It's tough getting up the next day after a few whisky's.
