Been eyeing a 26M or X for a while? I like the idea that I’d be able to take it to San Diego, Channel Islands, Big Bear, Havasu, Tahoe, Powell… Getting a big keel boat around here would lock me around the harbor I get. How comfortable were you with the crossing?
Comfort really depends on the weather and waves. i've crossed in 10-15 ft swells with 17 second intervals and it was comfortable. short period waves are what makes it uncomfortable. travelling is where these boats shine. you can step the mast in about an hour and be launched. also with the motor you can make larger crossings faster if desired. Dana point to Avalon is 2-3 hours by motor or 6-9 hours by sail.
