#40. Leopard 50 to Macgregor 26 - will we cope?!

  • @Barefoot Doctors Sailing - Catch up with the Barefoot Doctors Sailing story after our Leopard 50 burnt to the bottom of the ocean and now getting back to sailing with a Macgregor 26.
    Our sequence of videos was interrupted by the Annapolis Boat Show but we return now to the exciting adventure aboard the sailor trailer that at least gets us out on the water!
    In this episode we travel 840km to the Sunshine Coast (SE Queensland) to enjoy Noosa River, inland lakes and the Noosa Everglades!
    Still no payout from the insurance claim (4 months after the fire), wreck being organised to be destroyed and we continue to wait for resolutions.
    Binge watch and come barefoot with us as we travel and explore the planet, mostly from the water but sometimes through the minds of others as we provide aid and support where needed through the amazing TUFMINDS solutions!
    The free TUFMINDS program is released as a smartphone program under the Exqisit Life Foundation Charity, a registered not for profit and requires financial support to fund the free program. TUFMINDS saves lives by intervening at the point of suicide and pulling everyone to higher levels of mental resilience, wellbeing and functioning. it also creates better attitudes, resilience and coping - all very important for sailors facing difficult situations at sea.

      Awesome thank you! You will be in the middle of winter at present so I hope it is being nice for you! We escaped south to get to warmer countries as even the temperatures of 10* in Greece were too cold for us - babies from the tropics!!!!

    Wonderful. So positive you both are. I fulfilled a dream in the past 2 weeks and closed on my retirement home. I will be leaving NY and heading to southwest Missouri. I bought a small home on one acre on my daughter’s street. My 4 granddaughters await my arrival in the fall. I will turn 70. Time to enjoy the next chapter. What I get out of watching your videos is LIVE! Live your best life and be happy. Thank you.

    Great to see you guys again in your natural environment, though on a modest size motor sailer. I have seen many Mac 26s before, but never seen one so well fitted. Particularly, the lifting swim platform, which makes getting in and out of the boat very easy and convenient, kudos to the designer. I will appreciate to see the details of the platform. You guys are an amazing couple with even more amazing attitude. Wishing you always Fair winds and serene seas, all the way from Dubai

      Thanks Mansoor, glad you like the video! We have had several requests to share this design so we will try and put a video together about it... We have already sold this boat as we left to see the Annapolis show but hopefully we have enough of our own footage or can get in touch with the new (happy) owner for more photos....

      @@barefootdoctorssailing8567 thanks for your reply, I am glad you had a good experience, though temporary, on the small vessel and passed it on to a new happy owner. Never owned a Mac 26, but I was fascinated by the concept and the design. Except, I found the boarding and off boarding of the vessel little to be desired, until I saw the design on your Mac. I look forward to see the clips you have of the boat, and perhaps a more detailed images, if the current owner will be willing to share. Equally, very interested to see your next choice of a world cruiser. I may get tempted to follow your example as I have been thinking of moving to a sailboat from my motorized one. Considering my age, catamaran appears to be my only choice after crewing on a friends racing Beneteau. Thank you for all your very interesting and entertaining videos 🙏

There's a couple of T/A sailing channels that have like 125 hp on the transom and jump up on plane pull almost up to the beach and are fun to sail ! You have the best of both worlds !

I much prefer water that is clear so you can see what you’re stepping on 😱 I long for the day that you take me back to the tropics on your new Leopard, but for now I will sit back and enjoy your adventures! As I adjust to retirement I bought a MacGregor 26M. I like your yellow hard shell dinghy. Can you tell us the brand? Also what size motor have you found works well with it? I bought an inflatable soft bottom Chinese 9' boat as a tender but I can't imagine it will last being towed behind with fuel for longer trips.

      Hi guys. Thanks for following and that little treat is simple & called pikelets in Australia, but is the same as french crepes but thicker. 1 Egg whipped, add milk and bit of sugar, dash of vanilla and salt, then whip in self raising flour until thick runny and fry in pan... If too yellow add more milk and flour, if you're feeding a horde, use more of everything...Good luck

      We really appreciated it cause at least we could get out on the water! I did want to put a sub-title at one point that "3rd class sailing is better than 1st class swimming" but we deleted it so we did not insult Mac26 owners as it is not 3rd class at all - but I hope you understand what we mean....

      @barefootdoctorssailing8567  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ed,
      We believe the results are confirmed but have not heard from the lawyers yet so are still wanting to respect the process. However it is nothing that would be of concern for other Leopard owners - nothing to do with the build or set up... Will reveal the outcome when officially released. Sorry for the delay. By the way, we will have not be paid out for insurance yet so this whole process appears to be very slow.
