I love all of his silent films. I much prefer the silent version of Blackmail to the sound version. Also, Rich and Strange was partially silent even though it was made in the sound era. I think it flopped because it was partially silent but I bet today it would be regarded as another Hitchcock classic if it was fully silent
Rich and Strange is bizarre if oddly compelling. And yes, it’s a true hybrid of silent and sound. I love the theory that it’s a dark depiction of the Hitchcock marriage.
