    1:10 to 1:41 Tom Chambers cut to the heart of all the debates right there.

    Wow... being a UNC Tar Heel & Chicago Bull fan obviously Michael Jordan gave me soo many many amazing moments but to hear guys like Barkley, Ewing, Miller, Malone, Stockton tell the other side of the story you realize that guy broke more hearts & ended more dreams than anybody ever. For a guy like Charles Barkley to go home after scoring 40 points in an NBA finals game, a feat 99.9% of players will never come close to, thinking I am not better than this guy... wow. There's many ways to define greatness. The fact that so many incredibly proud men were forced to concede Mike was better is as telling a testament as any that Michael Jordan is the greatest

      emma bach Shaq needs to stop making fun of Charles for having no rings he played with Kobe one of the greatest players ever and a bunch of great role players as well and also Dwayne wade in his athletic peak. Dan Marley and Kevin Johnson were all stars but they weren’t good enough to close out games.

    That game 2, they both had 42 pts with triple doubles but Jordan down the stretch just torched the suns with his isolation moves and jump shooting. Barkley played his ass off but you're playing Michael in his peak. Very similar to Clyde and the 92' Blazers, like Chambers said - Jordan just elevates his game to the highest plateau

      Kevin Johnson was not very existent in that game, and losing Ceballos to a foot injury in game 6 against Seattle in the Western Conference Finals wasn't exactly the best timing. No one expected Barkley to outperform Jordan. Barkley didn't have the help. The Suns were pitiful at home, especially in game 1. Game 2 cost the Suns the series. Kevin Jonson was a totally different player on the road (in Chicago), and so was the Suns team. That Suns team didn't even come close to showing up in the first two games in Phoenix...not even close. The Suns screwed themselves royally because they should have won all 3 games in Chicago. Kevin Johnson coughed up the ball and turned it over at the end of game 4 (The Suns only won games 1 and 3 in Chicago).

      @WobblinGoblin1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Arson Hakobyan Good analysis. I'll go in a little different direction: if Barkley would have been traded the year before, the Suns would have won the Finals in '92 against the Bulls because Tom Chambers had aged A LOT over the course of that year. By the time the spring of '93 rolled around, he was a shell of his former self. The Suns needed the old Chambers, not the new "old" Chambers.

    Kevin Johnson and Dan Majerle had such a fantastic regular season in 1993, and they didn't play that well in the finals. Kevin Johnson had such a quickness advantage versus the Bulls' point guards and he didn't take advantage of it enough.

    • @mathewhorodner2000
      @mathewhorodner2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Losing Cedric Ceballos to injury at the end of the Seattle series in the Western Conference Finals threw the Suns out of sync against the Bulls. That was the worst time for that to happen. I think that kind of threw off the rhythm, especially the first 2 games.

    • @Sassonic
      @Sassonic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mathewhorodner2000 Still, you can't understate how Kevin Johnson didn't exploit B.J. Armstrong and John Paxon enough. KJ had such a quickness advantage versus those two very slow point guards and he could have penetrated a lot more and the bulls didn't even have a good shot blocker in the lane... And Dan Majerle was hitting everything that year and left his game at home for the finals, and it wasn't all MJ's defense, Thunder Dan was just ice cold except for if I recall one game he was on...

    • @mathewhorodner2000
      @mathewhorodner2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Suns were struggling all throughout the playoffs, starting with the Lakers. They finally started playing WAY better and well at times against Seattle. The Suns team seemed to play a disappearing act a great deal of the time in the playoffs. Otherwise, they would have won. You, also, have Cedric Ceballos whom they lost to a broken foot in game 6 against Seattle in the Western Conference Finals, and Charles Barkley being injured on his elbow/arm (draining fluid); things couldn't go any worse for the Suns. None of these things were talked about in the media during the Finals.

    • @Sassonic
      @Sassonic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mathewhorodner2000 I recall the Lakers series being tight and the Suns down 2-0 but Nick Van Excel also played out of his mind, he was in a zone and unguardable. I put less emphasis on Ceballos because Dumas was almost interchangeable, again it was Kevin Johnson not exploiting the Bulls PG's, it's not an exaggeration to say BJ Armstrong was the slowest starting PG in the league, and Paxson wasn't quick either.

    • @mathewhorodner2000
      @mathewhorodner2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sassonic Ceballos could get offensive rebounds. That would have made a difference. Also, I realized that Paxson and Armstrong shot about 50% from 3-point territory in the series; they shot the lights out. Barkley's elbow was swollen and had fluid in it, and Barkley wasn't shooting well. He mostly had a bad series shooting from the outside.

  • @Funkgun
    @Funkgun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thought we had it that year. Picked up some old Finals talent with Ainge, had Chambers twilight of his career but could still hit a key shot or 2, had Thunder Dan who looked like he could have been a future star, KJ and Barkley actually had more points on average in the playoffs than in the regular season. But the well oiled machine of Jordan/Pippen (I'd have said Grant, but his numbers were quite a bit lower) rolled into town.

    You couldn't have drawn up a fiercer dagger for the Suns than to have had the best record in the league, the NBA's Most Valuable Player, home court advantage all throughout the playoffs, only to lose it all in six games in the NBA Finals--especially losing all three of your home games in the series at that!
