Ban on Indian Films in Pakistan doesn't even matter anymore for Indian Films
Because Revenue from Paksitan for an Indian Film would be just 2 % of Total Revenue
And moreover there's a very high risk of duplication and piracy of the Copies.
Therefore it doesn't even make sense for a Bollywood movie to sell rights in Pakistan anymore.
So even if Pakistanis now want Indian Films to be shown in Pakistan,
Bollywood will not even give you the Copies Now.
Tum Chorr Log ho, Duplicate Piracy Karogay 100 %
If you want to watch an Indian Film then go to Dubai.

.. This man Nadeem is in total denial that ban on Indian films is the main reason for the decline of Pakistani film industry and loss for cinema hall owners.. Nobody wants to invest on new films or new cinema halls because people have stayed away cinema halls as Pakistani producers aren't making new films and ticket price has reached 1000 rupees.

Before watching this, I guess they will discuss how Pakistan was better and one of the global players in the 80s. Then they will discuss how govt, and general carelessness led the downfall of superpower Pakistan.. Then they will compare how big is Bollywood and can they reach there.. And in between they will discuss what was the time when what Pakistan did something good..

Quite interesting that he didn’t mention the impact of banning of hundreds of Pakistani films during the Zia regime. Also didn’t talk about the impact of Motion Pictures Ordinance of 1979. Isn’t it true that with a ban on Indian films Pakistani films were without competition and their quality deteriorated so much that people jumped on to VCR the moment it was available? For the last five years there’s ban on the screening of Indian films in Pakistan, why local film producers haven’t produced such films that would take their place? In fact Cinema is facing a steady decline during this period.

Excellent interview. Nadeem Sahib’s knowledge, experience and wisdom regarding Pakistani cinema is always a source of interest. As a filmmaker, one of the biggest challenges is the limited revenue stream for something as expensive as making a movie. All over the world, the movie theatre is only part of the equation. Production cost now around the world is largely covered by digital rights, music and terrestrial rights- even before a film hits the cinema. In Pakistan we still rely on the cinema house for our revenue. And thats a highly risky proposition given the scarcity of screens and other extraneous factors.

Nadeem came close to it but the interviewer missed it. That is, people go to cinemas to enjoy the social feeling of being with a crowd and experiencing it together. Human being, even introverts are social animals with a need for mass participation. That is why inspite of TV, bigger TV and latest technogy we still want to go to the stadium and watch a sporting event. Same reason people went to Taylor Swift concert and made her a billionaire in such a short time. Same reason we still " waste" money and go to restaurants inspite of wasting money on fancy kitchens and gadgets. Humans crave mass experiences, it is in our genes. Yes, cinema attendance across the world has decreased while ticket prices have gone up massively so going to the movies may no longer be a weekly thing, but it will as of now be an occasional thing for most people while a fixed percentage will always be regular cinema goers. You see that manifestation in the movie cinema club subscription that now exists in most western countries.
