Agreed. Rewatched the show over the last couple months, and man, the last season felt so awkward in comparison to the rest. Gotta admit tho, Eric and Donna reuniting at the end was touching.
I knew that Lisa Robin Kelly died from a drug overdose and struggled with drug use throughout the show. I never had any idea what caused it until now, though. God, that is so heartbreaking..

Yeah, he's probably just introverted, which is something rare to see in hollywood. I'd rather work or stay at home and relax than to constantly meet up for reunions.
I agree. I think it was an introvert vs. extrovert thing. I've been an introvert around nothing but extroverts in many situations in my life. I felt so awkward and like the odd man (well in my case woman lol) out. I just have never been someone who found parties fun and getting attention was never a must for me. One examples of this that I will never forget is when I took a 10 day tour with a bunch of people my age (I was in my early 20s). The first couple of days, a girl who was really smart and fun to talk to would sit by me. She eventually stopped when she got friendly with everyone else. Throughout the rest of the tour, I never had anyone sit next to me. =/
I mean, I’ve seen him tweeting at the other castmates like they’re all still friends, so if he really hated them then he’s one hell of an actor and he’s still acting to this day. This is coming from an introvert and a theatre student - just because we aren’t always the most social people in the room, doesn’t mean we dislike the people around us. Just because we sometimes have to walk away from everybody, doesn’t mean we weren’t enjoying everyone else’s company. We just need to recharge. Extended periods of social interaction can wear us out emotionally, and theatre and film involve a LOT of time spent in close quarters with castmates. Generally, it’s nothing to do with anybody else - it’s just how we are. This is why entertainment media sucks. Sorry for the rant. On a side note, Topher seems like a cool guy and he’s a great actor. I always thought that Eric could have easily been one of those characters that everyone hated, but he made him charming and funny.
Ronnie james I disagree with introvert. If someone socializes less than the next person are they labeled an introvert now? howd u like it if everybody labeled u an introvert ?
My aunt and uncle went to a taping od that 70's show once and they said that when the cast was allowed to meet fans in the audience afterwards, Wilmer V. was the only one who came out to say hi to people. Apparently everyone else was stuck up lol
Yeah. He was still a legal adult of course, but this lady needs to go over her notes a few more times before she goes and embarrasses herself like that.
Oops sorry. Correction to my initial point: he turned 20 a couple months prior to the broadcast of the pilot episode. (Aired August 1998 and he was born February 1978)
Kat A It is said she told them she was almost 18, and when she had already gotten the part and they were about to start shooting or had started her age was revealed.
This show started in the 90's. If Ellen lost her sitcom for coming out, I'm sure homophobes voiced their dislike for the episode. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen lol.
From what I hear, you're exactly right. Everyone who's ever met Topher said he's really nice and somebody who worked behind the scenes on That 70's Show said he's just shy/socially awkward.

Topher married a girl I went to school with and every girl from LaPorte hates her lmao They're all just jealous; Ashley Hinshaw is gorgeous, got out of this town, made a name for herself in tv and movies, and married Foreman. Small world - Sean Astin's girlfriend (ex?) lives in LaPorte, too.
One thing that I find amazing is how robotic social media has made people. The story of that actress dying was delivered in such a way, that I had to think twice about what she just said. A computer reading a text would probably tell that fact with as much emotion. Its not about acting the text, just about empathy. I think the planet is completely lacking in this very intangible substance. Its frightening.
Slevin - exactly - the only so-called secret was that Topher is a bad kisser, but is that really 'secret material'? More like a waste of my viewing time

I kinda wish they would make a "That 90s Show" set in 97-99. Maybe Donna and Eric could be married with a few kids and the show could be set around them. Just a thought.
Let me get this straight. Before "Jackie" got hired...on a job, no less...nobody needed to see her ID, Social Security, birth certificate, or other proof of age? Am I missing something??
It's actually very common for agents to get young girls to tell everyone they're older when auditioning/starring on TV. Have you never heard of actresses/models claiming they're 17 for few years and suddenly 3 or so years later they're celebrating their 18th?
Oh, you need to look no further than the fashion modelling world. If you come from a remote part of Europe, it's quite easy to pay a few people to forge your papers. Hell, most agencies will even help you with it if they really want to hire you. Most "Brand name" models started their career in their early teens.
I’m sure what happened was she lied in the audition about her age, they loved what she brought to the character and then the truth came out later when signing her to the show. They probably just didn’t want to drop her since they felt she fit the roll well enough before finding out her actual age.

palefox, rather than reading dirt on Tommy, I'd rather remember the times he and Cheech had me laughing to tears on their LPs, cassette tapes, and movies as a teenager. I wouldn't know Jordan Belfort from the stray cat I just saw burying a dump of cat S--t in a Rite Aide flower bed.
Oh pls. We always hear these stories about actresses lying about their age to get a role. That doesn't happen! They were well aware she was 14. You don't get hired without showing your license and social security card. There are background checks etc. I know I work in the business.
It took me a while, but I have become ok with the final season. I still don't like Randy, but I did like the shenanigans that went on with the gang. "You can name this place anything you want like, no grooves or...snap at the wrong time..."
Y'all! In one episode I remember them making a joke about "Jackie's" age and it was Hyde that had said something along the lines of "oh it's not like she is 14" and that just blew my mind because at that point they had to have know yet they still let her do the show underage
Sam. [샘] they didnt know she was 14, she lied abt her age, no one knew till after, but i mean it is weird for a 19 year old to kiss a 14 year old but again she did lie
Red Foreman didn't die in Robocop. After being beaten he managed to secretly slip away, realized the kind of life he was leading, and found a new path of a family man.
These aren't really "dark secrets" except Kunis being underage. I guess peoples perspective of DARK is subjective. Kind of nit picky if you ask me. Oh and Tommy chong was high during some episodes... So DARK man... Heavy stuff... ?????
The cast need to realize in all their constant meetups without Topher, you don't represent That 70's Show without Topher. How do you have a reunion without the main star?
I made up my own theory that midge and bob have separated in the past and midge had a baby with someone else. The father kept the child then midge moved back in with Bob. That's why her daughter doesn't live in point place with them. She's with her father, possibly in California? Which is why midge goes there when she leaves Bob.
Am I the only one who wanted to know why they didn't continue the relationship between Hyde and that black girl? The chemistry in that one episode was everything.
I also would take into account that Laura and Taylor's kissing scenes are a lot more hot and intense than the ones between Laura and Topher on That 70's Show.
Oh my childhood memories. Such a great time.. That 70s show was the best! Eric (Topher) totally made that show. Every cast was outstanding but when Topher left for the last season, you knew it was over. Nobody talks about him but I think he's actually the most successful one out of the bunch, he's been in kick ass movies like Traffic, Oceans eleven, Mona lisa smile, Truth, Interstellar, etc can't wait to see War machine. He hasn't sold out and has passion for the work he does so I can see why he doesn't bond with everyone else. Also maybe has something to do with them being in weird religions (Scientology and Judaism) ?? Can't believe how time flies it only feels like it was a few years ago.. I miss it so much :(
Topher is a little sketchy probably because his parents named him Topher. (Edit: His legal name is still Christopher. Thanks to Ivy Ruonakoski) He grew to hate playing that character and has said as much. Seemed kind of ungrateful and jaded during the interview.
One of the reasons why Grace probably didn't want to associate himself w/ the show so much is because of the fact that too much associations with niche roles can literally DESTROY an actors career. Look at Elijah Wood. You really dont see him much anymore because of the success of lord of the rings.
Not now,But just a few years ago in a lot of states, "The sale or possession of drug paraphernalia" used to be a serious prosecutable crime. In places some it still is.
It was if you called them bongs or said they were for smoking pot! You weren't even allowed to SAY the word Bong in Head Shops, they had to kick you out by law.
It was a funny show.. especially seasons 1-6...but "Best show ever"? All in the Family, Cheers, Fawlty Towers, Roseanne, Freaks and Geeks, Parks and Recs, Blackadder, Modern Family, Fresh Prince, Married With Children, In Living Color, Mad TV, Red Dwarf, I Love Lucy, Community, MALCOLM in the MIDDLE, 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Nanny, Doctor Who, MASH, 30 Rock, Welcome Back Kotter, Three's Company, etc..are at least equally as excellent.
+Chris Rembert you forgot Sienfield. and before you say no. remember fresh prince of bel air made your list. but then again it is your list. soooo I'll go back to minding my business.
lizardking02793 I'm pretty sure there is a video on TH-cam that explained there actually a riff between Topher and other cast members but kept it on the down low to this point fairly well
If you can find the documentary, it was called Operation Pipe Dreams. His son started a business selling water pipes, and he was 100% entrapped. The guberment ordered a water pipe, which can be sold retail in the majority of places, but they ordered from a state or a county in Pennsylvania or somewhere that has an ordinance prohibiting water pipes. The feds ordered the item either online or by phone, were told by the store, we can't ship to your zip code due to the law.The government said "That's fine we will come pick it up", and they placed the order. They waited over 30 days, the order was taking up space in a small shop, and they caught an untrained employee who didn't know about the law, and the clerk was talked into shipping the item.Tommy pled guilty because they agreed to not charge his wife or son. I applaud him for that aspect, but I think he should have fought it.Its a disgrace that selling something legal in a capitalist society can get you sent to jail.

re. Topher, it seemed pretty clear that most of the cast resented the fact that the show was built around his character. And they pretty much felt they were too good for "this nerd." It varied from the girls at one end (showing it the strongest. especially the one playing his GF), to Ashton showing it the least - - cause he was clearly the top dog, so he had nothing to be threatened by. It didn't seem as if they disliked him personally, but they just acted like the high school cool kids, being forced to hang with the nerd. it showed.
I don't really see that. The characters all are mean to each other--"burning" each other constantly. Nerds and cooler kids hang out, especially when the friendships begin in childhood. Besides, except for Jackie, none of the others are really "cool"--they are all kind of different modes of alternative cool, at best. And Eric is wiseass enough and comfortable enough in his own skin to not be labelled a freak at school.

Usually when a supporting player goes to jail, the studio wants nothing to do with them, but they realized that Tommy Chong going away for selling drug paraphenalia was such a dumb collar by the feds, plus the fact that everybody liked working with him so much, they welcomed him back with open arms. My understanding is that he was a hero in prison.
Mila Kunis story reminds me how Laurence Fishburne got his role on the war movie, Apocalypse Now. Used the same play book. Seems like he was the same age too about 14/15.

Ronnie james
I disagree with introvert.
A straight guy having to do a gay scene with another guy isn’t going to really try and give his best kiss.
yeah and in the script eric resists and pulls off
My favorite character is kitty because ummmm DO I HAVE TO SAY WHY
I could eat her with a spoon! 🙂
HER LAUGH

Curtis Rupp Shes HILARIOUS
Sarah Sterly yep 😂😂
Okay correction: Ashton Kutcher was 19 in the first season, not 23.
thankyou! i was confused when she said that
Yeah. He was still a legal adult of course, but this lady needs to go over her notes a few more times before she goes and embarrasses herself like that.
Still an adult
Oops sorry. Correction to my initial point: he turned 20 a couple months prior to the broadcast of the pilot episode. (Aired August 1998 and he was born February 1978)
Also it said on screen that the Mila Kunis commercial was in 1993, and this lady says she was 13, but she was born in 1983.
How do they not find out what her real age is before they hire her? Doesn't she have to fill out paperwork before she starts?
they did know, she may have lied to get an interview, but once she got the part they would have known
Kat A It is said she told them she was almost 18, and when she had already gotten the part and they were about to start shooting or had started her age was revealed.
Olivia that makes no sense they're straight up lying first off she's a minor. Wouldn't she need her parents permission to even be on the show?
sweet pea I wouldn't be suprised if her parents were her manager at that time.
Kat A it's a lie
alternate title: dark secrets the cast of that 70s show tried to *hyde*
People hated the episode with Levitt bring in love with Eric? That episode was awesome
Nathan Groenevelt That’s what I’m sayin! It was one of my top episodes. 😅
I think they totally made up any dislike of that episode. I've never heard people complain about it.
This show started in the 90's. If Ellen lost her sitcom for coming out, I'm sure homophobes voiced their dislike for the episode. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen lol.
Never? How? I have
But Buddy's got a Trans Am
The part about the woman who play Eric's sister made me sad
nxgnmjdxnmcghnjxdr Lisa Robin Kelly?
Yeah
I hate the substitute sister... And now im sad
nxgnmjdxnmcghnjxdr she was hot
She couldn't fight her demons.
Topher seems like he's just a more introvert than the rest of the cast.
RIP Lisa Robin Kelly.
From what I hear, you're exactly right. Everyone who's ever met Topher said he's really nice and somebody who worked behind the scenes on That 70's Show said he's just shy/socially awkward.
so he's eric foreman basically lol

Topher married a girl I went to school with and every girl from LaPorte hates her lmao They're all just jealous; Ashley Hinshaw is gorgeous, got out of this town, made a name for herself in tv and movies, and married Foreman. Small world - Sean Astin's girlfriend (ex?) lives in LaPorte, too.
yeah i heard that he's pretty shy and the castmates are typically more outgoing.
Miguel Baptista i agree
I COMPLETELY agree.
it was heartbreaking. She was a good actress and the lost of her baby.... So sad. RIP
Maybe some people have the understanding that one day death comes for us all.
Seriously....and the way she just moved onto the next fact. It was eery.
... how is leaving the show for a while to help your husband a "dark secret"
I guess they put "Dark Secrets" secrets in the title for more views???
I always thought a secret was information most people didn't know.

Slevin - exactly - the only so-called secret was that Topher is a bad kisser, but is that really 'secret material'? More like a waste of my viewing time
Technically, the real reason why Topher Grace (Eric) didn't appear in season 8 is because he was busy filming Spider-Man 3
Isaiah Adams poor guy thought he was going to be a movie star, I guess we all have to take risks sometimes.
To be fair, I thought he did a good job in Win a Date with Ted Hamilton.

I found he was decent in Traffic.
Is no one gonna talk about Donna's disappearing little sister Tina?
Man, scrolled had to scroll too far down for this comment, now that's a dark secret. Also i think the first time Jackie's mom was a different person.
They actually told that Donna had two sisters at first.
It was a TV trope.
Wich episode pleaseeeeeeee
_sonja _ the one when they have a party in donnas backyard
I kinda wish they would make a "That 90s Show" set in 97-99. Maybe Donna and Eric could be married with a few kids and the show could be set around them. Just a thought.
Yes And Hyde and Jackie end up together like they were originally supposed to
YEes and then they can reveal that the entire final season was just some bad drem that Fez had, and that Jackie and Hyde really did end up together.
GENIUSES
@John Smith actually it should have been me but I was to young 😂
Can you guys stop with the Jackie and Hyde crap they were so bad together worst combo ever she was funnier with kelps
I have to say that this info makes all the kissing and just before sex scenes between Jackie and Kelso pretty creepy.
she told them when she got the contracts and stuff because she needed an on set tutor and had to work less etc.

I had no idea lisa robin kelly died. So Sad. :( She was perfect casting for Laurie and was missed after her departure.
Yeah the new Lori just didn't have the same pizazz as Kelly.
Shawn McCallum i know right? On top of being amazing for the part, she even looked like eric’s sister
So basically, a bunch of scientologists rejected Topher Grace? Good for Grace lol.
Who is in Scientology? Thanks
@@thecrackaddict4640 Masterson is one. i don't know about the others.

So what your saying is that the rest of the cast fell from grace...?
fun fact about tommy chong: he shared a jail cell with jordan belfort, aka the wolf of wall street.

Meh, Topher made millions and married Ashley Hinshaw (girl I went to high school with) - I'd say he wins.
Oh pls. We always hear these stories about actresses lying about their age to get a role. That doesn't happen! They were well aware she was 14. You don't get hired without showing your license and social security card. There are background checks etc. I know I work in the business.
Katrina McCaffery this was in the nineties. It probably wasn't as strict or professional as it is now
Are you sure you do Katrina McCaffery,? Ive never heard of ya
I'm pretty sure ashton was only 19 at the time of the first season not 23.
It's actually been said that they didn't know at first, but found out before filming started and kept her on anyway.

That 70's Show is one of the best sitcoms ever made. But last season was shit and Jackie and Hyde should've end up together.

Holy shoot which episode was that? I totally missed it
It was Leo who said it and also that’s not even how the line goes. But yeah I do find it weird they let her do the show when she was so young.

The show came out in 1998 and Ashton was born in 1978, which would make him 20 not 23.

The cast need to realize in all their constant meetups without Topher, you don't represent That 70's Show without Topher. How do you have a reunion without the main star?
What about the fact that Donna had a sister at the beginning of the series, but she disappeared after the 2nd season?
WizzyWuzzy SHE DID WHAT
What ...?
She had 2. A younger sister and an older one in collage that was only mentioned once.
Yup younger sister Tina and older sister Valerie.
WizzyWuzzy 2 sisters..
Someone should make a theory about Donna's disappearing sister
I made up my own theory that midge and bob have separated in the past and midge had a baby with someone else. The father kept the child then midge moved back in with Bob. That's why her daughter doesn't live in point place with them. She's with her father, possibly in California? Which is why midge goes there when she leaves Bob.
@@DeathlyHallow108 damn that's a good theory
Midge and Bob and Donna killed and ate her \m/

Considering back then, the propaganda was that hippies would mistake their child for a turkey, and bake em. That's what happened.
Am I the only one who wanted to know why they didn't continue the relationship between Hyde and that black girl? The chemistry in that one episode was everything.

When Tommy Chong was in prison, his cellmate was Jordan Belfort (Wolf of Wall Street).
Derek J. wait really? small world i gueds
Fiene Oomens look up Joey Diaz Jordan Belfort tommy was the guy hearing all of Jordan’s stories and told him he should write a book about it
I think ScarJo has been on the record as saying that Topher Grace was her best on screen kiss.
Luisa Gomes and Laura said Taylor, a person she sees much more often and is in her 30s, is a BETTRT kisser, not that 20 year old Topher was bad
Luisa Gomes
I don't feel that Topher was trying to make a huge impression on Joseph Gordon-Levitt anyway, especially cause he had to push him off too.
I also would take into account that Laura and Taylor's kissing scenes are a lot more hot and intense than the ones between Laura and Topher on That 70's Show.
really disturbing to know the allegations about danny masterson was true.
@@I_Hit_Those it was true
I miss it so much :(
I almost agreed with, or at least liked your comment, until you equated scientology with Judaism. Whyyy man???
Most of these arent "dark" there is nothing dark about leaving to take care of a sick loved one, or not wanting to hang out with some people
Maybe Topher Grace doesn't want to hang out with a bunch of Scientologists 💁
Steph Mitchell So Hyde recruited Donna?
Topher is a little sketchy probably because his parents named him Topher. (Edit: His legal name is still Christopher. Thanks to Ivy Ruonakoski) He grew to hate playing that character and has said as much. Seemed kind of ungrateful and jaded during the interview.
His parents named him Christopher. He just dropped the Chris.

I thought the reason for Topher Grace's departure from That 70s show was because he went to play Venom in Spider Man 3?
Dark secrets or not that show rocked!
Tommy Chong being a jailbird isn't really much of a secret. He takes his character that seriously.
Lisa Robin Kelly May she rest in peace! Amen!
I know! She just had such a strong screen presence and personality.
Dark secrets the cast of That 70's show tried to HYde ;)
One of the reasons why Grace probably didn't want to associate himself w/ the show so much is because of the fact that too much associations with niche roles can literally DESTROY an actors career. Look at Elijah Wood. You really dont see him much anymore because of the success of lord of the rings.
Did anyone else jump when the picture of formans sister popped up ? omg poor her !!

9 months for selling pot pipes, america is fucking crazy

After a while, that music is insane provoking.
re. Topher, it seemed pretty clear that most of the cast resented the fact that the show was built around his character.
And they pretty much felt they were too good for "this nerd."
It varied from the girls at one end (showing it the strongest. especially the one playing his GF), to Ashton showing it the least - - cause he was clearly the top dog, so he had nothing to be threatened by.
It didn't seem as if they disliked him personally, but they just acted like the high school cool kids, being forced to hang with the nerd. it showed.
I Liked that it all was based around his life! They were just poor sports
I read somewhere where Eric's character was based off of producer Mark Brazill's childhood
did i watch the same show?
He was called a bad kisser twice by people on the show and you expect him to come back to hang out?
I don't really see that. The characters all are mean to each other--"burning" each other constantly. Nerds and cooler kids hang out, especially when the friendships begin in childhood. Besides, except for Jackie, none of the others are really "cool"--they are all kind of different modes of alternative cool, at best. And Eric is wiseass enough and comfortable enough in his own skin to not be labelled a freak at school.
These are dark secrets?
The only thing noteworthy is Masterson.

Do you mean on 70's show?
Usually when a supporting player goes to jail, the studio wants nothing to do with them, but they realized that Tommy Chong going away for selling drug paraphenalia was such a dumb collar by the feds, plus the fact that everybody liked working with him so much, they welcomed him back with open arms. My understanding is that he was a hero in prison.
Mila Kunis story reminds me how Laurence Fishburne got his role on the war movie, Apocalypse Now. Used the same play book. Seems like he was the same age too about 14/15.
Mila's role was child sexual exploitation and some1 should be charged with that crime
You say something similar to Fishborn. Considering the working conditions that movie had. If McDonalds did what that movie did. They would be sued. In both cases. I wonder where their parents where.
Lurker1979 interestingly they mention Mila was 14 and Kushter was early 20s then show him all over her in a sexual way,but they fail to put 2&2 together, are they dumb, complacent or condoning it?
