Useful but if the cameraman can have some early takes to set some focus points. That'll keep things in-frame, in-focus, and prevent annoying movement in-shot. Your viewers' time is important enough to practice shots and edit. By all means, I'd like to see more content like this. I've usually used bits someone else has ground and I need topical material like this to learn. Thank you.
Excuse me please - do you use a diamond grinding wheel for working on the HSS tool bit? I can clearly see an outer thin ring on the wheel suggesting just that. In which case - is it a good choice for HSS? I've heard that it is advised to use diamond wheels for nothing but carbide tipped tools because HSS (and any other kind of steel) will "gum up" the diamond wheel surface in no time.
i need to pick up some grinding wheels but not 100% what i need. i will be making tooling from hss and carbid an i know i need something different for each but ive seen so much conflicting info online i dont really know what to get now. any suggestions from ppl who work with this stuff would be greatly appreciated.
would love to see all this again with a camera that was locked on the grindering wheel an a second off to the side to show what u was using to cool the part an maybe a better way to show the progress of the cuts.
Great advice. I know grinding HSS is something I struggled with in school but my grinder skills have improved out in industry. Hopefully you're video production skills improve to so you can better show what's going on and not have missed or out of focus shots.
Need an acme thread gauge and then it's pretty much the same thing. Get your angle and tip width right keeping your clearances below the cutting edges.
I enjoy these practical videos, especially since I am new to the machine world. Keep them coming but maybe put the camera on a tripod and focus it a little better.
Video: See this how I've got this clearance on this bit? Me: Hold on I need to turn on my windshield wipers I can't see a thing. Hold my beer and keep the wheel steady for me for a sec.
Worst video I've seen. He is moving the thing around so fast before the cameraman gets the video of it but then he moves it right away and you don't even know what he has done. I think I'll leave not knowing how to do this yet
Would have been a helpful video if all the parts I was interested in weren't blurry

Excellent suggestion about holding the tool up to the light and looking for no deviation in reflections!!!
Patience is the key! Nice lesson.

So what wheel is best.
I’ve been at the mini lathe for about 15 months. Your video is very helpful . I can never see enough times
Good video. Practical and to the point!
Great info, thanks. Wish the camera work was a bit more focused though, hard to see some things you're talking about.
Can I grind using Angle Grinder? We don't have Bench Grinder

thank you for going step by step on this tutorial
Great instructions thank you, horrible camera work unfortunately.
There are a number of good videos on YT on how to grind a high speed steel tool. This is not one of them.
Needs to fire his video guy
Hi thanks for the video. I just got a Baldor grinder for carbide. What type wheels should I buy to grind HSS for my lathe
I am sure it would be great if it was in focus. Sadly much of the explanation was made waving the bit around and the image was fuzzy.
Great camera work right there.
So basically you rotate very slowly while you are grinding one face?
What grit on the wheel?
Good video for a basic cutting tool. So so many different ways to skin this cat, but the basics are grinding the proper clearances for sure.

yes lets see some other HSS tools ground. Even with the dicey focus this video was helpful in visualizing how to achieve the right tool shape.

I'd like to see how you make and acme threading too.

Can you make a tool bit 90degress
thank you sir

If you close your eyes and listen, it's like you're being taught by stone cold steve austin lol. Great video!
What?
@@italian316 he has the same voice as stone cold Steve Austin from WWF lol
@@chrismiles992 WHAT!?
Can you do a video on rebuilding a magnetic V Block
Who is Clarence?
What is HSS?
Thank you for the instructions. The camera work is horrible.
Did you get your Mom to film this?
Cant hear in one ear.
Cant see clearly because its out of focus.
Great video. I guess.
Focus, Focus, Foooocccuuussss!! With the video being mostly out of focus it was very hard to follow.🤔
Video: See this how I've got this clearance on this bit?
Me: Hold on I need to turn on my windshield wipers I can't see a thing. Hold my beer and keep the wheel steady for me for a sec.
Where’s your radius?
One of these instructionals where clear, concise visuals are imperative. Blurry video which isn't extremely close up and well lit, is utterly useless.
👍🏻
Great advising and explanation, but the actual filming is terrible.
thanks for doing the video. Lots of good tips. But really bad videography, unfortunately.

video quality is not good sirr,,
Sorry this was not helpful the guy is moving the part too much and it all out of focus I moved on to the next person who can teach me how to do this.
this guy knows how to handle his machine tools camera work needs some improvements
Thanks for the video,, I do think you could do a good video but it won't be with this camera guy !!!
kimberzelik@youtube
I can hear your tool shattering.
Your rake clearance is not enough
Get a new cameraman.
pretty sure you cant "over heat" HSS
