Oh please play astro bot, Dan. It is such a playframe feeling game. I would love to hear you gush over it. Its such a step up from playroom, which is already amazing
Fun fact: The Secret Labo has an extra secret activity to do. Now you can access it, you can rescue some secret bots hidden in the levels. They were made accessible in a staggered release in the lead up to the Astro Bot sequel's release. A fun bit of marketing.
Love that the Demon's Souls reference is the Maiden in Black doing kickies on the stairs. Truly there is no more iconic imagery from that game and Astro's Playroom gets it.
It would be awesome if you could dress up your astro bot as one of the easter egg characters. Running around as a little Kratos or bloodborne hunter would be delightful!
Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this week, Dan. A bit of a trip down memory lane, some cool platforming, and jokes, fun and nostalgia for my favourite TH-camr. It's got me in the Christmas mood for next week. Thank you for this short and sweet series.
The GPU song got me weirdly emotional. Really made me think about all the amazing engineering that goes into modern consoles, just so we can play games about cute robots!
This game is so ridiculously precious. So few games out there are made with this much obvious attention to detail and love for the craft. I hope more developers out there take the right lessons from this game.
It was a blast seeing you play this AstroBot game this week! Not only was it absolutely adorable, but so interactive, fun, and a big trip down memory lane, especially as Playstation celebrates 30 years this year! To repeat what others have said, seeing a full playthrough of the official complete AstroBot game, (possibly with a Carrie tagging along too.) would be very amazing and fun!
This was a delight to watch Thank you. Honestly yeah they did a really good job with this one. I would love to see a whole play through of Astrobot when you can get around it. My day job always gets hellish this time of the year so I welcome to the injection of Joy this brought.
I know you generally only stream if you have footage to capture, but a holiday bonus completionist stream of this would be fun (get those holiday ad rates too lol)
Such an amazing trip down memory lane. Even though I've never personaly owned a Playstation controller, a lot of memories of playing PS1 and PS2 games at friends houses came bubling up :) Would love to see a playthrough of the full game!
(credits) The music is so good! Kenny Young did the soundtrack - he also appears to have done the Tearaway OST and Little Big Planet. (Also, somehow this comment got posted on another channel's short, instead of here earlier. So I'm re-posting now...)
I love that final boss so much! As someone born in 1994, that rewind really caught me off guard personally playing this the first time haha, what an amazing final boss and amazing game all around!
That moment that I noticed the song lyrics in the music was the wall poem. Precious. Edit: Then Dan realized when finding the second wall, and later when he had it confirmed, he said "Precious" and I'm like "That's what I said too!"
9:43 good god my head leapt up in the middle of work like a sleeper agent hearing the game name lmao. Complimented feelings about the duology aside anyway, I do still love the games despite it all. Even if said complicated feelings mean it’s difficult to recommend anymore, alas.
Officially jealous. I got irrevocably stuck on that dang T-Rex, and you finished it in one go. WHY CAN'T YOU FAIL TO ASSUAGE MY HURT FEELINGS, DAN??? 🤣
Wow, imagine wanting to immortalize _that_ game in here. That's like if they had a vignette from _Genji: Days of the Blade._ Actually no, that would actually be funny, seeing what's-his-name fighting the infamous Giant Enemy Crab. Never mind "PS3 has no games," the PS4 had a pretty sad library its entire lifespan, aside from stuff you could also get on Xbox or PC.
I do wonder how "localized" this game was. like is the CPU song in japanese in the JP version? was the name on the memory card in hirigana? stuff like that.
14:16 He got there eventually. 15:27 I do not. 19:08 Why would it be Warframe? Warframe started as a PC game that just came to consoles. Glad that it did, with crossplay, but it's not a "Sony IP". 31:04 That's a thing I don't get. If it's a thing to hold like a gun, and in game is used like a gun... why not use all that wonderful R&D and make a stable, ergonomic, gun-troller? 35:12 Ah, another black brick. One that, I cannot unhear Yahtzee referring to as the "Piss poor". 39:07 I'm amazed the triangle works so well. 53:10 Can't go wrong with a cool hat or jacket, imo. 53:53 Ah, well, I don't mind donating, but I cannot ride a bike. Like "physically impossible" cannot, not "skill issue". 58:39 A router! 58:47 I understand that reference. That was a pretty good movie (series? I forget how many there were, the VHSs died a while ago). 59:14 Huh, there was I think exactly one of these screens where they said "Artefact" instead.
I'm afraid I can't ride a bike, but I'll contribute my 1,110 cool points and just not participate in the timeshare. 😅 WARFRAME MENTIONED! I'm not entirely sure that was meant to be Warframe, but "Ninja Bots" is probably a decent enough reference. God, I love that game so much, but I've given up on recommending it to people. The early game is so rough. The only reason I got into it was that my roommates walked me through the beginning and taught me the core mechanics, and they were EXTREMELY cautious to keep me from getting spoiled about the big twist. They made sure that I didn't play The Second Dream quest until they were there to watch, and they were so delighted by my shock and awe. I've recommended it to multiple people over the years, but the only person who's stuck with it is my partner... because I did the same with her that my roommates did with me. Walked her through the many complicated systems to get her going and carefully avoided spoilers. The payoff was SO GOOD watching her face as she played The Second Dream, and now it's so fun to see her genuinely excited about the game instead of just kind of smiling and nodding through it to make me happy, lol. We're on pins and needles waiting for the next big update... It's just so hard to convince people to put up with at least 60 hours of gameplay with complicated mechanics that aren't well explained before the plot actually gets interesting. I love Warframe a great deal, and that twist is killer, but I do wish the new player experience were... well... a lot better. There's only so much you can tell someone, "Just trust me, I promise it'll get good." 😢
It's been getting better, but probably still not great. Though I can't help but wonder how much is just because people are unwilling to take their time with a game to learn it...
The developers of this game did _not_ have to go this hard. Except they managed to win themselves a contract to make a full-length game, so maybe they knew exactly what they were doing.
19:15 I don't think that's Warframe because the neon colours and colour trails are different vibe. Also the font is different. Could not tell you what it actually is tho haha
This is such a delightful game for everyone to experience. I am going to give you my 100 cool coin free of charge. lol Keep up the wonderful work you are doing Dan. Enjoy you holiday Dan, Dan, Dan, Carrie and Soraya.
And now Astro Bot won game of the year 😃 I really do have to get that. I'm sure a full playthrough on the channel would be great too, just not yet so I have time to play it first 😅
Can we someday have a joke video of all of the people who watch / sub to Playframe have their own "end credits" where you just talk over it the whole time.
Maybe instead of a mountain bike we should spend our cool points on a PS5? Though... that's arguably less fun to share around than the mountain bike. You'd definitely get at least one person who'd want to keep it for an entire week to finish beating a game.
Of course the GPU zone is decked out in Nvidia green. Also it's kind of weird that Crash and Spyro get the most accurate physical representation here. Not just bots wearing accessories. I wonder if that was something Activision mandated in order to get them in here. I don't know what Sony could have gotten away with including without making a licensing agreement. On one hand, a shiny white robot wearing a wig or animal ears is what the kids call "legally distinct", but plausible deniability kinda goes out the window when you put him in a game explicitly made to be a tribute to PlayStation games.
I noticed that a lot of gold balls happened to be in the machine at the time, compared to the other times. I wonder if the machine is actually a physics simulation, and they calculated exactly how to load it to guarantee specific results.
So I tried to do a backflip, thinking it would be rad because of all the cool points.... It did not work. And I can't be sure but it feels right that I should owe somebody a couple thousand cool points now.
Oh please play astro bot, Dan. It is such a playframe feeling game. I would love to hear you gush over it. Its such a step up from playroom, which is already amazing
Seconded
5:00 I think that poem was literally the lyrics for the song playing in that area lol.
Edit: He figured it out lol
Donating my 1110 cool points! (rounded up). Looking forward to my turn on the mountain bike.
Aww many thanks!
Fun fact: The Secret Labo has an extra secret activity to do. Now you can access it, you can rescue some secret bots hidden in the levels. They were made accessible in a staggered release in the lead up to the Astro Bot sequel's release. A fun bit of marketing.
"We'll put it on the fridge", he says, to the absolute banger that's playing
Love that the Demon's Souls reference is the Maiden in Black doing kickies on the stairs. Truly there is no more iconic imagery from that game and Astro's Playroom gets it.
They understood the assignment, and that was definitely the most important part of that assignment.
1:00:30 - IIRC, one of the secret rooms had a special countdown to the release of Astro Bot the game.
It would be awesome if you could dress up your astro bot as one of the easter egg characters. Running around as a little Kratos or bloodborne hunter would be delightful!
Hehehehehehemwhahahahaha!
I believe the sequel lets you do that.

I was humming the main playroom theme yesterday and I was like "curse you for being so catchy!!"
It says a lot when a tech demo is more entertaining than many full games.
Perfect timing and very prophetic. Please play Astro Bot!
also we should get 10,000,000 spider rings 🕷
Oh, that’s The Order: 1886! 23:15
A game that is simultaneously very short, not nearly what you'd think it is based on the ads, and DEEPLY ugly and stupid.
I was gonna say, it's the first game that comes to mind with that kind of tech weaponry
@@Volvagia1927hmmm, I remember everyone thinking the graphics were one of the good qualities of the game...
@@Imperial_Squid I remember it getting memed on for not even being able to hit 1080p.

I think everyone agrees that you definitely need to play Astro Bot, Dan. Hopefully, it's before next December though
Maybe we can pool our cool points together for a pizza party?
You may have missed out on Patapon, but the original devs are making a spiritual successor called Ratatan, which looks pretty cool.
I think patapon 1 and 2 remastered are on the digital store, so you can still catch up
Maybe don't look now but guess what just got declared GOTY at the VGA?
I'd definitely watch an Astro Bot playthrough. This was an absolute delight!
I vote that we do one more episode for a completionist backtrackening!
The T-Rex with the little floating guy is from Dreams.
"I Am Astro Bot~!" What a lovely time, especially after the Game Awards. Looking forward to whatever series is next.
This has been such a joyful game to watch, I would absolutely love to see a full playthrough of Astro Bot!
Obviously Dan thinking about Wreck-it Ralph is the Kingdom Hearts PTSD kicking in.
18:55 is a game for The Playroom on PS4. It's not a reference, per se, it actually is called Ninja Bots. Used to play it with my kids a ton.
Yaaay now that astrobot won game of the year there has to be a follow up series at some point
The GPU really said "Let me do it for u" /ref
To whom it may concern: the full Astro Bot game is getting a new level, this Thursday at 8pm. Why? No reason, the devs are just really, really cool.
I'm pretty sure the cool points get cashed in during Deltarune 4. Just don't give them to Lancer when he first asks.
This has been a fun way to fill (most of) a week. I'd be up for a playthrough of the full Astrobot game!
The Cool Points bit got me. 🤣
I'm all in to see the full game.
I really love this adorable little game and would love a playthrough of the full game
(credits) The music is so good! Kenny Young did the soundtrack - he also appears to have done the Tearaway OST and Little Big Planet.

I'm requesting a "Backtrackening" though perhaps not now. Perhaps to let us know that you WILL be doing the full Astrobot game?
Biker zombie game is Days Gone
I love the lil hoolahooping so much 😭
I'm your GPU
I'm also your GPU.
We're a multi core processor.
That moment that I noticed the song lyrics in the music was the wall poem. Precious.

Here to say i would also like to see you play the full Astrobot game! It's full of fun and just a good time.
I think 23:00 was The Order: 1886 - the werewolf fighting game.
Wow, imagine wanting to immortalize _that_ game in here. That's like if they had a vignette from _Genji: Days of the Blade._ Actually no, that would actually be funny, seeing what's-his-name fighting the infamous Giant Enemy Crab. This was an absolute delight to watch!
If Dan's having fun with it, I wouldn't mind seeing the 100% and the finished mural later!
I do wonder how "localized" this game was. like is the CPU song in japanese in the JP version? was the name on the memory card in hirigana? stuff like that.
you should play MediEvil if for no other reason than the fact that the main character's called Dan.
14:16 He got there eventually.
15:27 I do not.
19:08 Why would it be Warframe? Warframe started as a PC game that just came to consoles. Glad that it did, with crossplay, but it's not a "Sony IP".

Dan should play MediEvil for next Halloween
I was so enamored with astro bot, so would love one of my fav comfy youtubers to play it at some point! Hadnt seen this before that, and i loved it
yeah you gotta do Astro Bot now. Just played through it, and its everything you love times 10
I'm afraid I can't ride a bike, but I'll contribute my 1,110 cool points and just not participate in the timeshare. 😅

The rainbow bridge reminds me of a poptart

pretty sure it was the order 1886 for the scene at 23:10 ish
3.2K views, 1100 cook points each - 3.2 million points so far.
We can get..... either a moustache comb, or a fake moustache.
I wonder if triangle, circle, x, square dose anything?
In reference to the opening padern in the cube, 39:50.
I am actually holding that controller right now! I'm watching this while doing some gathering in xiv! I'm participating!
The Tekken one is inaccurate. Neither Kazuya or Heihatchi are throwing the other off the cliff.
Please, you need to play Astrobot buying your copy from the reference to the store you found at the end!
That little hula hoop vignette is cute, but it gave me Squid Game flashbacks, ngl
This is such a delightful game for everyone to experience. I am going to give you my 100 cool coin free of charge. lol Keep up the wonderful work you are doing Dan. Enjoy you holiday Dan, Dan, Dan, Carrie and Soraya.

Bought, played, loved 💙 Kept thinking "Dan would love this" a lot, sooo, yes I think it would be fun to see on the channel at some point 😄
Can we someday have a joke video of all of the people who watch / sub to Playframe have their own "end credits" where you just talk over it the whole time.
Their Twitch streams do have an end credits roll where everyone who's subbed or donated gets listed.

Great! You should play Astro Bot next! It released in September.
As someone who is a bit of a completionist, please do go back and finish it at some point!
cool pool
plz do play the full game.
12:53 then you should look up Ratatan to not miss the patapon train again.
And bring milk.
Ratatans like milk.
i was just think how bad would a psx camera look
Please please play Astro Bot!! Such a wonderful game
💙
The bit with the PS3 gatchas *had* to be programmed to happen, right?
Setup into immediate pun? Oh probably.
I noticed that a lot of gold balls happened to be in the machine at the time, compared to the other times. I wonder if the machine is actually a physics simulation, and they calculated exactly how to load it to guarantee specific results.
