Great to meet you!!! Thank you for all the work you have done on this chassis. If there is ever anything I can do to help - let me know. I have the full LRR setup with idler gears on pre-order!
Thanks for all the videos, been a lot of help. I've just finished putting this chassis together (no electronics yet) and the original black o-rings seem to work great. I'm not getting any sticking at all and no leaks, yet. I've also added the spacers under the lower arms which caused the car to sit pretty high. I'll see where it sits once all the electronics are fitted but I think I'll give those soft mst springs a try.
The 3d printed adapter thingy is quite nice. maybe some longer ball-ends wil also work. Usually the kits come with spare ball-ends for steering and such.
Great video. Wonder if you have thoughts on the D6 vs the RMX 2.5 classic kit, which amain has listed for $120. Assuming you won’t be doing a separate video since you already have an RMX 2.5
Correct - I don't have any plans on purchasing the RMX2.5 classic. The RMX has a lot more history. So if you are very nervous about tuning the car, or have no local community around you to help - it may make sense. Otherwise, I would go D6. It has a lot more adjustability, and the chassis layout is more conducive to higher performance. Good luck!
I've noticed that a bump steer is there. Are you planning to deal with that in the future ? My local track is closed till spring so i've limited possibilities to test the chassis myself. Only played with it in my flat.
Honestly - bump steer really doesn't bother me. I know folks talking online love to point it out - but unless it is causing me an issue in driving, I don't worry about it.
I was watching your video because I'm interested in getting this chassis but what makes me thinking is suspension movement specially movement on tow-in tow-out is there every thing ok with ??
Just about to get my first drift setup have ordered a 10bl120 esc and motor combo as got a good deal on them i have a flysky noble nb4+ i use with my other cars, now big thing chassis i been lucking for a couple of days weighing up d5 etc then found your d6 video is the d6 the way to go making the changes needed as i go or is there other kits etc worth looking at.
Hi there! Just checking - did you get the 10BL120 version 1 or the new G2 model? The G2 allows you turbo and boost, which the version 1 did not. Chassis - that is a super loaded question!!! There are a lot of opinions and a lot of answers depending on your goal. Basic answer: get the newest version of whichever company you go with. Example - get the D6 instead of the D5. BUT - there are SO MANY other choices out there. Redcat RDS and Yokomo RD are both in the similar price range as the D6. But if you want to get serious with drifting, then spending more on something like the Yokomo SD is smarter in the long-run. SO MANY CHOICES! :) Do you have a local track? See what the majority of folks are running there. If you get a similar chassis - they will be able to help you with issues better than if you have something nobody else has.
@RoadsideRC hi yes it is the g2, there is a track a 15 minute drive away I have been chatting with them on Facebook not visited yet I'm there this Monday I wasn't getting a chassis until I had been anyway. I currently race oval and previously raced buggy and touring car but never drift I have tried a car a few weeks ago which has sparked the interest. Andy
My stock yokomo servo from an RD 1.0 doesnt work. I tried reconnectig and flipping the cables but nothing worked. It smelt a bit burned so it means its broken for good right?
Massive difference in suspension performance! Been keeping an eye on the d6 fb page for what mods people are doing and these are all the things I'm looking to do to mine when it arrives. First drift build but trying to do it properly 😅 already ordered the blue rings and an m3 washer kit, might put a wee chamfer on the chassis where the arms hit rather than taking a proper notch out... Need to order a spring kit still and servo/gyro but got an xd10/d10 10.5t combo for it. Do you reckon a flysky gt5 will be fine for transmitter?
Great! You are really doing your homework first - which is very smart! I personally do NOT recommend the GT5. If you already have it, and it makes it easier for you to get started - great. But otherwise I would not spend $$ to get one.
@RoadsideRC thank you! Really looking forward to building a kit again, been quite a few years, last kit build was a venom creepy crawler about 15 years back now haha 😅 rtr is too tempting these days... And yea I've already got the gt5 and a spare receiver. It'll do till I figure out what will be best for the whole fleet, probably a noble by the looks of it.. Have you used the afrc gyro/servo combos before?
I have something to ask on an RC car that has spring shocks, not oil filled. Can you put a spacer in the shock to make the spring stiffer to make it dampen the bounce of the car ? Please don't say just buy oil filled shocks i can afford to buy them ! I was told not to put a spacer in the shocks, but some RCs come with plastic clip spacers, and some of the RCs come with adjustable shocks ! So my thought was to put some o-rings on the shock to compress the spring to make the RC less bouncy ! Your thoughts ??
Unfortunately, it is backwards. When you out the spacer with the spring, it makes the soring act stiffer. This should make it MORE bouncy. But the good news - it is cheap to try, so good for it!
@RoadsideRC That's just what I mean ! I have an rc that's really bouncy, and I want to make it not so bouncy, so I put a few O-rings in-between the top of the shock and the spring to preconpress the spring a bit to cut down the bouncing ! When I drop the test, the rc now it's 1/2 as bouncy as it was before !
As always thank you for this! Love the D6 content. This is my drift rc build and seeing your thoughts and opinions helps out a ton!
Great to meet you!!!

@ which 3D print did you end up using for the softer springs? The shorter or longer one in the end?
Ha! Lol. I knew that body was special for something and now I see why.
Nice!!!! Drive by wire v8 must feel like whole new world.
Yes!
It isn't the most detailed body in the world - but it is fun different.

The black o-rings worked for me at first as well...but then it was like they swelled up.
Keep an eye on them!
You can also use longer ball end caps for the rear shocks
Yes - that is true.
Well done! 💪🏻🚗💕🫡
Thanks!
Good job, this is how it should of came with out the box settings.
Thank you!
thanks for the files troy , ! very appreciated
Glad to help!
Would love to send you some Barell springs for you to test out and link the shop 🤙🏽🖤
I love testing new stuff - would be happy to.

Yes - that is called "active toe" and is a feature they designed with this chassis.

Yep! Sounds like upgrade time!

I’ve always setups with upside down shocks. Does it have to do anything? Would like to know 🙏
In this case, it is pretty simple... I am trying to keep the shock from leaking. :)
@ thanks. Very reasonable 😄
Porque tienes los amortiguadores montados al revés ? gracias !!
¡Ellos están montados para evitar fugas del líquido de choque!
Is there a particular reason why you installed the shocks upside down?
Yep - they leak a little. This makes it so they are less likely to leak.
:)

Troy… I downloaded this adapter v2 i try to print it but it’s error…😢
Interesting - what error did it give?
@ it will initialize printing but after a few mins waiting nothing happens… then it says error … thats it…
@@n0n132 The file I provide is the STL. Did you slice it for your printer?
@@RoadsideRC no worries troy thanks for your time … much appreciated 😁
One more thing… do you ever this futaba gyc 470 gyro do you have review in this thing? Is it ok for drifting?
