Yeah. I bet old school verbose commercials worked, those that looked informative, or like an explainer. They now look quaint, and inconceivable. Noise.
Our phones are definitely listening. My friends and I prove this often by mentioning something we can’t possibly afford (like a Lamborghini) and instantly get ads for that exact item. Happens daily
A study showed that you can decrease food cravings by imagining something gross happening to the food, e.g. imagining a cockroach crawling over that piece of cake you are thinking about. Putting aside the risk of aggravating an eating disorder with this technique, I wonder if it could be applied to urges for purchases such as imagining sweatshop labor being used to produce the thing or the conflict mineral mining that goes into making it.
One time Pepsi and Lay’s advertised their products when I was sleeping and having a dream. I’m not mad or annoyed that they did that. It was actually interesting.
You are great but I 100 percent believe they are listening to you and tracking you with AI. I went years without a phone and only used a tablet at home and I still got targeted ads based on what I talked about that day with friends The only way that would be possible is if they built individual profiles on all of us using our location data, our search history, habits and the sound of our voice
I remember i was in my house and my friend came over and we were talking about upgrading our pcs. After he left, i checked my phone and my youtube page was filled with videos about pcs, my amazon app was promoting pc parts to buy. How is this possible? Is my phone listening to my conversation ?
i thought this was common knowledge, i guess not but yes, all "smart" devices are listening to your conversations at all times and sending that data to companies this includes: your phone your alexa your samsung fridge anything with a microphone, really
There are plenty of ways to circumvent aggressive advertising and other similar tactics. For example if you're looking up companies that provide a service you need don't just base it on the familiarity. Look around to find info on them and if you cant quickly find it, go ask online about other's experiences or move on to considering other options.
Only buy stuff using small change such as quarters and dimes, while looking for the silver ones. This way you rarely buy much stuff in one go. Also walk to the store, then you can't buy more than you can carry, and are healthier for the walk. Choose companies based on the rolls of a 20 sided die, in defiance of advertising. Except for products and services that you 'really like for some reason or another. Develop mindfulness and awareness of possible causes of your actions. Then develop a general slight misanthropy, so you go against the trends of culture. A Civil War cannonball 'would be fun to have. Maybe if I found one that was cheap or free, I'd acquire one.
No thanks on the lead canon ball. They are a dime a dozen in Gettysburg! In fact you can see some still embedded in the walls of their houses as you walk down the street. How do I know this? Spent my honeymoon there 30 years ago...😊
companies: using every psychological trick to try and make me easte money on something i don't want or need me, poor: "damn that's nice, too bad i don't need it."
I want to say your channel is great. I really like the way you explain stuff and I think there wasn't a single time your video wasn't interesting or informative.
The best defence against peer pressure is to have no friends.
Or just ignoring them
Oh, it me
If it's constant, many to all advertisers doing it, it eventually becomes noise to be automatically ignored.

This is true. They are listening
Snowden told us all years ago, and ppl are still struggling to accept it.

This is good advice by the way.

@@BigMoneyChink the ferals outside my window want love
solution: have adblockers on every device (including mobile youtube) (:
Nice try. I don't need a Civil War canonball until AFTER I buy a canon.
I may not be selling it, but everyone needs one
@@bearbaitofficial Now if you do get into selling merch of that caliber (pun intended), it would certainly give me a SECOND reason to buy one.
That's why it's better to steal things.
I haven't bought anything new besides groceries in three years. Clothes: thrift stores in rich neighborhoods.

Ads don’t work on me. All it does is make me hate their product.

I hate corporations so much.
I'm good on the cannon ball unless you have the cannon too...
Yes, I want one. Merry Christmas/Yule
Yeah best way to avoid is stop watching TV or getting online or not have any friends!
I wonder if canines have similar reward pathways
