At 25 seconds into the video there is a Lotus Omega/Lotus Carlton! We need a video on that as well please!
Thank you for commenting...I knew I couldn't be the only one who caught that!
He also teased an M1 a while back and didn't care to go into any detail. I would love to see that sort of thing.
In Europe it’s called a Opel Omega lotus. Remember seeing a brand new one in Paris coming out of a small street onto the Champ Elysees as a 18 year old on a holiday. Damn I was impressed. I am 53, coming from Holland and haven’t seen one live ever since
stop talking sh!t@@Dennis-eh2vx now shut it!
AGREED! I was shocked when I saw that in the video
That gunk that builds up from E85 is the exact reason you try to source ethanol free gas for anything with carburators. If gas with ethanol sits at all that tends to build up, especially in areas where the gas can evaporate (i.e. carb bowls) which then clog up your jets. Ask me how I know.
I have a shitty old Yamaha 4 stroke dirt bike... Unbelievable how much jello was built up in the carb...
How do you know?
its not a carb car tho
Fuel will evaporate and varnish. It's not the ethanol content. Yes, ethanol is hydroscopic, but, it's not the sole reason fuel turns to a varnish.
I will admit, seeing this thing again does give me the itch to get out and fabricate again. Seeing a good chunk of the custom parts of this (sans frame) put together with rivets and other more accessible tools really makes me want to hop back in the garage this weekend and get some of the stuff I've been putting off fabbed up for my project.
Same! Except I can't fabricate, never have.
That positive battery cable needs a grommet or a bulkhead pass-thru. If the sheet metal wears through the insulation (and it will) you are going to have a nasty short circuit.
Yea I saw that too. Hope it's one of the small details he has left to do.
Reason I scrolled down.
Reason I scrolled down too, soft brake lines bolted to the underside of frame- exposed to the road. Widowmaker indeed.
I literally logged in to make this same comment.
Now watching through the whole video, as much as I love the looks of the build and the presentation, unfortunately therw are so many safety problems it's impossible to ignore. Hope no one gets hurt with it.
Still my favorite build on this channel. You ever see a car and think, yea that was built for me? This is definitely that car. Wish I could afford to buy this off you. The front grill is still such an amazing outside of the box creation. Who ever owns this next is one lucky sob.
0:28 are we not going to address the Carlton shaped elephant in the lot?
Probably a Leichtbau customer car, they work on some cool stuff
Not his car
For what it’s worth, fuel cell bladders and baffle foam will deteriorate in a day or two , if left dry, after having been exposed / used with fuel. Same deal with AN rubber fuel lines.
Having dealt with helicopters, immediately after de-fueling, our standard practice was to fog the fuel cells and fuel lines with motor oil, for preservation, while open / dry.
I would imagine E-85 to be the worse yet in this aspect.
❤This thing rules over everything. The reason I’ve stayed with this channel. Please Don’t sell it ❤
I agree!!!!!!
This thing is so sick. I love the rawness of the “body” and the extreme craftsmanship of the chassis.
Its crazy when you say out loud how "long ago" some things were. The AN line vid. How long the car was sitting, etc. Doesnt feel that long but makes us realise how long we have been following you. Thanks for all the great times for a long time
0:28 Lotus Omega? 😲Truly a unicorn seeing one in the US
Thought I saw a Carlton! We need a vid on that!
@@uisperfectemail9720 i suspect its LHD, then its a Lotus Omega
Mike, don't leave us without answers :D
Looks like his "Leichtbau" neighbors got something sweet...
A unicorn everywhere! amazing
That grille design is so rad... I'm not a hot rod person, but I've always loved this build. Nice work Mike
Glad to finally see this again. This is also why I came to this channel…. So creative and BAD ASS!
This build hits every single note of the greatest model A I could imagine in my head. It’s absolutely amazing. Whoever is the next owner of this, is incredibly lucky.
This is the best most educational car building/fabricating channel on the internet. It's like if Bob Vila and Gas Monkey Garage had a baby. Imagine not needing to look out for the next person, but then turning that process into content. Not just any content so far as I know this is the only channel custom fabricating Fords, Ferraris (with Japanese Motors), BMWs & Audis. No other channel varies builds like this in an easy to follow ,educational ,yet entertaining format.
I learn so much about gas cars watching this
YEAHHH BABY MODEL A CONTENT WOOOO
I built PTFE oil cooler lines following your old how to video, they’ve held up great. One pro tip is to only put angled fittings on one end of any given line, because the clocking of the fittings is hard to control when you build them
Looks cool. Might want a grommet where the positive battery cable goes through.
The wheels on this thing have got to be my favorite part 👏
What a beast. Mike I can't say it enough the quality of your builds AND videos are top notch.
You definitely should replace the foam in your fuel cells once a year. If f you leave it in there too long and it starts to break down, your whole fuel system will need to be replaced. Replacement foam is much cheaper than everything downstream. A fuel filter will not catch all of it, and the tiny parts that still make it through can clog your fuel injectors.
at 7:58 it appears that you don't have any grommets on the holes for the main battery cables as they pass through the firewall? That's a very quick way to blow up a lithium battery and cause a pretty nasty fire! The rest of the build is awesome, but having had friends whose cars have burnt to the ground due to electrical fires caused by similar, I just wanted to point it out to you, Mike, in case it's a genuine oversight... :)
Whole build looks stunning. I love that focus on details. Great job tbh
Great car and love seeing how you bring things back to life. My wife even commented saying the production of the video is brilliant. Can’t believe there was no mention of the lotus Carlton you snuck in at the beginning though!
Not his
Your music is always really cool but I especially loved the tracks for this video! Good to see the progress moving along, I really can't wait to see what project is next in the pipeline!
that positive cabe with no grommet… wild, it will rub thru
It has a grommet it just slid down the wire and needs to be popped in place.
Wow - that's an awesome sound!
You only got a like and comment because we saw a whole lot of your beautiful dog in this episode!!! Love your work Mike, keep them coming!!!
Something to check out for hard to bleed cooling systems is a radkit. Snap on and blue point make them. It pulls a vacuum on the whole system and then fills it. Super quick, checks system integrity and minimal farting around with bleeding after.
I honestly laughed out loud when you said the temp. I live on the east coast, Massachusetts, and today it is 51 degrees and people are jogging in t shirts with their dogs , im outside in shorts with my dog lol, 60 is a very warm day, and 70 is downright hot, when it reaches anywhere near 80, people hide in their cars and homes out this way. It’s interesting how different people get climatized to different parts of the planet. Tangent over, love your channel.
Fantastic video as always
Definitely my favorite car, and the one made me start to follow this channel. I even made an rc car inspired by it, hope you'll keep it.
Love the music and artistic style!
I also have one of those 4.5lbs 680cca Antigravity bateries in my e34 and it's been pretty awesome. I put it in another car with an electrical drain and it killed it dead flat, still going strong after a recharge with one of the chargers Antigravity recommends.
Sonically cleaning the injectors was a good move. Even if made for E85, they will rust or otherwise clog up if not used regularly.
That sounds just stunning.
fantastic work again, it has an unmistakeable look. I think a welded cap with the stanceworks logo would look great on each of the front rectangular beams ! (or S and W on each!)
The front grill is such a master piece!!
Excellent
Back in action
I can't even express how badly I want this car.
Man this is so cool. I can’t look away.
a love that grill! what a apocaliptic machin! its sick!
The. Sound. Of. That. Engine. 😍
GODDAMN I love this thing!!! Blowing out the damn microphone on that cold start at the end hahaha
like to see a grille set up over rear bed and a small winglet off top of theradiator fan.. it looks awesome but subtle additions make the reat look finihed like the bonnet.. best channel ever
That grille is awesome.
That is a wicked ride!❤🎉🎉
Love it that thing just sounds incredible such an angry beast
"Bumping and skewing". Phrase of the day. Yes, that slatted grill shell is right on.
HOLY CRAP! That was a Lotus Carlton! There NEEDS to be a video on that!!
The engineering and fab work put into the model t gets me every time
Model A
Awesome episode
Oh man this episode felt like a long time coming. Had me wondering what happend with the projects since I haven't seen a post lately. Will add though what a great way to start my day
Wow awesome!!!!
Sweet Truck, to bad you can’t keep every project, I’m sure the next caretaker will appreciate the effort put into this badass truck !
Very cool!!!!! 🤜🤛
Boss this isn't a hot rod... its an orgasm! You are a master builder and inspiration.
Awesome!
You Need to bring that Beast to Sunday Steel. ❤️🚙👍
Best craigslist ad ever.
Damn good background music!
Nice to see & hear this beast alive again. Which Antigravity battery are you using?
Great soundtrack in this episode btw
Crazy nice!!!!
Very awesome 😎
You need to change the pass through for your battery cables. They need to have a grommet on them. This is a fire waiting to happen.
Half mad scientist half marketing genius. This guy is a machine
God I love this thing. Don’t think I’d fit, but I love it.
Isn't mounting the brake lines on the cross member a mistake? Won't they get wiped off over the first speed bump?
awesome ride and work like always.
that positive cable for the battery touching that metal scares me... doesnt take much to wear through that outer part of the cable.
Love it!
Great looking car, the sound is amazing, chassis rails need blocking off.
Did you mount the rear brake line fitting and hoses on the bottom of the chassis member, on a car that low?
Some time it is an idea to have pipes ore hard line on most of the system
PTFE is the right answer where neglect is expected.
Thank you for the tutorial on E85. I never want to use it if it’s corrosive.
16:35 i flinched too
Kinda glad I can't get E85 in Canada, forces you build something that works with 91 pump even though I know E85 would be easier
Kickass.
AWSOME 😎
I can feel and smell the fuel cell fun.
Corosivity and explosivity? Love you Mike, no need to church it up, Bud 😂
that grille is boss!! whould be awesome if it was servo activated by heat to open amd close
Cool looking thing. Its crazy that you can legally drive this on the roads over there, in most other countries it would be miles off being road legal. I'll never get to build a hot rod I can use
Babe!!! Grab the popcorn!! Stanceworks uploaded a video!!!
Question - aren't you concerned with the zip ties dry rotting?
That said, I love the channel - your work, your personality and your willingness to let us come along for each project. You rock!
The video that was long overdue. Finally.
I remember when I worked in ALMS and the corvette team were the first team to test E85. It melted their whole fuel system. Thankfully they were the Guinea pigs and we didn’t have to deal with that mess.
Lotus Carlton!!!
Cool car. As others have said Ethanol can have a reaction/be corrosive to certain materials. Is that a Lotus Omega in the beginning of the video?
Could do with some grommets for the battery cables.
🔥🔥🔥
Battery cable grommets are needed
Is that a Lotus Omega/Carlton at the start oft the video?
Nice⚡️
The acceleration on this thing must be incredible
Are the grille louvers cabke actuated from the driver's seat, or is it pretty much set-and-forget? The thumbnail looks cool with the lights hidden, but also looks like a short throw, especially for the speeds of which this Model A is capable.
Will there beva follow up video on running and driving the rebuilt version ??
LOTUS!!! CARLTON!!! Dropping hints are we?
Maybe Cleetus would buy it as a Freedom 500 Price XD
What is the reason for the foam and how much gas does it keep you from actually using? I would also worry like you mentioned about foam bits going into the motor.
I went out of my way to... Making sure there was oil...
Like... Duh!
Those louvres are a great idea. especially if they were thermostat controlled, oversized radiator would work well with that.
Its in the babk
