I love how they love giving credit. You can tell how passionate they are about music I don’t know any musician who remembers every origin to every small detail of their song just because they want too.

Jack and Ryan are so in sync the entire explanation it is beautiful. They are on the exact same wavelength which is why they are able to create such phenomenal ideas.

So I’ve been listening to these guys for a while now and for the longest time I couldn’t quite place what made them so special. None of them I would consider trained vocalist or skilled to a professional degree as musicians. This video made me realize their “secret”. They are all just friends who love making music together. Even if they didn’t get signed or sold records, this song would have been made either way. They dump who they are into it and don’t seek to make “popular” music. This leads to insanely unique sounds and melodies that most artists would never have the guts to run with. Instead these guys not only embrace, but identify it. It’s because of that that we don’t even notice they aren’t the best musicians or vocalists. Heck they aren’t even amazing show-stopping performers. That’s not what we are listening for. Together we are experiencing what I can only explain as their identity, and it feels so personal and intimate that we instantly relate to it. That forms a relationship to a group of complete strangers and we can’t help but eagerly wait to see how they “turn out”. Being connected becomes clearly more important than the technicality of their performances. Listening to them talk in interviews, it seems they keep waiting for their next daring album to pull the rug out from under them. Instead, at least for me, their music feels much like their song “Netflix Trip”. Each song they release is a story or chapter, they all play a part of their lives weather it’s an odd Halloween feeling opera like “Pitchfork Kids” or a chart topping Anthem like “Bang!” Hats off to them. I can’t name another group that puts themselves out there like that and I admire the courage.
