I like your idea of using a 12v socket so you can reuse the power adaptor that comes with the dashcam. If you have space in the fuse area, why not? Also like the electrical tape, and "get over it" lol!

I don't think any of the modern VWs have fuse diagrams.

No issues. Just a tap from walmart

VW is not good about giving out diagrams. You can find it by pulling them til it stops working. Lol
