I’m still disgusted at the 12 thousand divers fighting the bugs whilst only about 2K were in the automaton sector last night. If they aren’t gonna fight those damn squids then they had better help spill oil.
I will say this, the Illuminate have Tesla Towers of their own. I've been packing the Arc resistance armor from the Cutting Edge Warbond. The drones that call reinforcements also fire arc shots at you, so having a 95% damage resistance to that feels great. Also, back in March, Pilestedt asked something along the lines of "What strategems do you want to see in the game?" and I sent him a mock-up of a sentry turret that I took into MS Paint and crudely edited a flamethrower's barrel and gas tank onto the turret and to see it in the new Warbond made me happy. I, 100%, do not claim that I "birthed" the flame sentry or take credit for its addition to the game, but it's nice to see it nonetheless
Harvesters also have an arc attack, but it only seems to use them when you're close (about the range of the flamethrower is where I've seen it being used)

For those that think the Illuminate is EASY on super helldive mode: We're only fighting 4 types of units. (Ships dont count) As opposed to 8-11 unit types on bugs/bots
For anyone having issues with damage not increasing on the new melee weapon when running peak physique, whether be by design or another bug by arrowhead, you need to press you melee button and not the fire button(so R3 and not triggers on controller and F on mouse and key if thats what your melee is binded to)
The most i had seen online at once before last week was around 90k, got on after the game awards to see 180k fighting for the cause was a beautiful sight

@@racmanov they earned it back on the creek for me. A month or so of misguided nerfs cannot even come close to hindering the enjoyment and memories I've gotten from this game. I was telling my fellow helldivers that arrowhead was cooking something good, we just all had to be patient, and this FAR exceeds my expectations. I was honestly thinking a new map, a new warbond, and maybe a new enemy type would be added. Instead we got an entire new faction, ground vehicles (finally), city maps, melee weapons, and an AWESOME warbond. The only issue I have with this update is that it will greatly delay the helldivers fan comic I'm working on, as I will be blasting the illuminate full of lead for the foreseeable future.

@@racmanov In my eyes, they rectified the nerfs by reversing the vast majority of them, the escalation of freedom update wasn't the best in terms of new content but it also wasn't terrible, and ya the DSS was a bit disappointing for how long we worked for it, although I see the DSS as being a platform for arrowhead to expand on in the future (hopefully). Still, the DSS shouldn't have taken that long to build for what little it does at the moment. In regards to stealth nerfs, yes they need to do a better job at making sure all changes get into the patch notes, although none of the ones I've heard of seem that detrimental to gameplay. I probably would have never noticed them if they weren't pointed out to me.

from what I've found: Medium Armour Pen headshots are the best way to deal with the Overseers - Senator is basically a one shot headshot, AMR is a one shot headshot and so is the Autocannon if you can land it, the landed Ships require Heavy Armour Pen to break - the default HE grenades, Impacts, Thermites and Autocannon all work when the shield is down but the Frag Grenade does not.
A friend keep asking for me, "Is there anything new in helldivers, any new warbond, its been more than a month", and I kept saying, "They probably are waiting for the game awards to announce something"... it was an obvious move, and the best move they could do. That presentation was epic and hyped up a lot of people. Even tough this game has some small things they have allways delivered what we needed we as a playerbase just need to give them a bit of trust. IMO they have proved themselves trustworthy. But dont mix up trust with complacency. 💜

suggestion for anti-squid weaponry: Arc weaponry and gas. The gas affects even their tripods, and the arc weaponry one-shots the zombies, hits multiple targets at once, and above all: Stuns the Overseers (both types) and disables the Watcher drones. And with the drones being the only ones that can call for aid.. you effectively dont have to worry about reinforcements if theres at least one arc on your team. wearing arc-resistant armour is recommended, not just because of friendly arc fire - but because the squids also use arc weaponry. The Watchers have an arc zap, the Tripods have a close ranged arc zap and they have tesla towers defending their larger bases/landing sites
@@splattbinat1542 Yup. Blitzer and Arc Caster both - though the caster is more reliable due to its longer range and more predictable arc. THe blitzer still has a chance to miss when the zombies start zigzagging near you - but both are good. I'm not sure how well this holds up on T6+, but T1-T5 this is a reliable thing to use
@shoulderpyro Eriksson recommended players bring anti-tank stratagems to help take down the Illuminate spawn ships, encounter ships, and the Harvester enemies, all of which have shields (the new Anti-Tank Emplacement defensive stratagem will prove useful). You’ll need support weapons good against the horde; Eriksson suggested an assault rifle. And it’s a good idea to use the FRV to zip around the maps, particularly on city roads.
@@OccasusRaven Suggestions are just that though. In Infernus' duo setup, the gas/arc combo worked wonders. Yes, the tripods were just avoided rather than engaged and we used the orbital railcannon to deal with the ships instead but..yknow. Just cus a dev says "you have to use this" doesnt mean you have to use it. I still remember the time when the devs went "Oh no people use this too much!" and nerfed those weapons into the ground. Basically: The Arc weapons annihilate their infantry The gas confuses the walkers so you can use the chance to slip away Orbital railcannons take out the spawner ships REINFORCEMENT SHIPS DO NOT SHOW UP IF YOU USE ARC WEAPONRY - Arc weapons shut down the watcher drones, the only ones that can call for reinforcements. ..also, the reinforcement ships dont have shields. Just the landed ones
Is honestly using the mainly weapons with the 100% mainly damaged armor is GOD ter! Rocked it last night and was a blast and really good at the squad heads that rush you. I love it and hope more people try it.
With impact grenades you can destroy the Squid walker if you aim at the legs ! The scorcher Baton Melee Napalm Barrage Eagle Airstrike The 4th stratagem your choice . With this loadout , i get a Easier run & high kills averaging 300+ ( strictly talking about Squids
To best fight them: you need somebody to have turrets, you need orbitals, either napalm or laser, 500kg bomb is too narrow, you want someone with a grenade launcher for the area denial, and, you want someone with the arc thrower because it stuns them.

2 of the stratagems I'm using is the Stalwart and the Orbital Gatling Barrage. One wouldn't think they'd be useful against the Illuminate but man do they have their uses for crowd clearing and being anti shield weapons. I wonder when shooting the joins does it have to be an anti tank weapon I would assume so but haven't tried with just machine guns yet will have to try.
Me and my hell brothers from czech republic are loving this new content, and we just finished writing our own faction called Iron Scholars (group of librarians a archeologists who pick up weapons because old enemy is back) 💜🇨🇿
What I don’t see is that there are a lot of players not using a hidden meta gun against the illuminate ground troops: The Arc Blitzer It destroys the zombies and the overseers, including the flying overseers. It stuns the overseers indefinitely till you kill them in 2-3 shots. The regular adds get destroyed in one shot by a large number. With the arc blitzer, the quasar cannon, and the drone laser backpack. Ammo is not needed.
There have been massive disconnects since the update. After testing, it has been confirmed it is when you are joining other host's games that disconnects happen.. The host connection is stable. It's the guests/clients getting dc'd.
Imagine inhabited cities on big worlds where the defense mission is you defending the actual city while the civilians escape and the longer you last the more local militia arms like a couple hmg turrets or something like that
I want to say thanks for actually acknowledging and apologizing for some of the things that were said about the dev team before the update. I've seen so many people saying horrible things about the devs because of the length between updates and radio silence, and while I can understand some of the frustration, I draw the line at insults and slander (not saying you did this, but I'm sure you've seen some comments that took things a bit too far). I feel like there are some people in this community that take the devs for granted. So I'm glad to see someone acknowledging when they said something wrong, I hope this might inspire others to do so too (probably not but hey I appreciate it anyway).
Watching TGA, watching John Helldivers come on stage to preface the trailer and it says “Out Now” I got such a gut wrenching excitement I have not felt for a game in such a long time. So very cool!!!! and then to watch 180,000 people flock to that planet in 2 hours was amazing!!! 💜
Love squids, the environment created for their entry into the second Galactic was is amazing. Also, tripods can be taken down with frags after popping the shield with small arms fire.
7:35 I propose that if they drop an armor with 50% resistance to everything, they need to up the percentage of the other resistance armor sets to, at the very least, 99%. Give us more incentive to bring them. Also, those armors are supposed to be a collaboration with Killzone.
I have been enjoying the new armor passive with the knight. The quick reloading make sup for how fast it dumps ammo and the knights fire rate chews their shields fast.

Ive been using the armor that applies the 100% melee damage boost which makes melee play actually viable and allows you to 1v1 the armored guys without sinking a clip into them.
The Torcher (and likely flamethower) works great for the swarms of zombies they send at you, and on the overseers, and on the harvesters too. Same for the MG turret, drop them in an intersection to cover your rear, Gas grendades work well, might try the dogs breath next or maybe the purifier
My first game I loaded in me and my friend were looking around and we saw a tripod thing, he was freaking out as I screamed “EAT LEAD!” And obliterated it with my recoilless! 💜
The second that trailer finished I sent out alerts to all my local helldivers. We all have been in the fight from the minute it started. Just FYI stun baton trumps stun lance.
I figured they were working on something big but there was a lack of communications there. By the time of The Game Awards I had gotten tired of the nothing we had been given to look forward to. It's not like we the players need to know everything that's coming up and when, but there was a bit of a failure of conveying "We're working on something". Hell, they could have said "Expect a big announcement at the show" and still have shocked and surprise everybody with the "Out Now". Far at the armor that's been found is concern, there's a big difference between 50% and 75% and especially 95%. The most useful it'll be is if we start fighting the Illuminate on fire tornado planets and you have a buddy who likes dropping gas right at your feet. Other than that it'll still be more useful to pick the armor with the higher resistance of what you're expecting.
That resistance armor is going to be good ONLY if the other armors get a bonus to the type they protect. For example gas and fire do more damage arc weapons reach further and arc to more enemies ect.
I dropped everything I was doing to go fight the squids as soon as a I saw the announcement during the award show. Dropped in a dif-8 and immediately got disconnected and decided to solo it. Had an absolute blast running crowds like it was early days of cod zombies💜
As a diver who took some R&R while super earth high command and super earth’s government took the time to do their necessary work and research to bring back the fight, I’m now here to make sure the Illuminate don’t steal any more of our citizens delicious freedom
One thing I don’t like is if only a part of the 2 or 3 missions the host quits the progress for the galactic map doesn’t count. It should count each mission that’s completed.
The Tenderizer has been great, cuts through everything except Harvesters very quickly. Gatling turret also does a great job and Orbital lasers are fantastic for taking out clusters of landed ships.
Tesla Coils easily destroys hordes of the Voteless, and you can easily get a 40x killstreak by itself. The Arc Gun (Support) does heavy lifting as well with its lightning arcs that can hit 1-5 enemies per shot.
The patriot exosuit finally gets it time to shine. Tye minigun can shred through overseers, watchers and the joints of havesters as well as all shields. Walk up to a spawner, minigun its shield, send a single missile in it, repeat And to top it all off, become all but immune to voteless, they do next to no damage and they die trying to hit you when you step on them
Had lobby issues, for other people who are unaware it seems to be a port issue. Setting up port forwarding using the official HD2 ports allowed me to start finding lobbies and allowed others to join me.
Update is fun and will eventually be great, however right now it is a complete mess. Enemies phasing through buildings, freezing in place, disappearing even. Constant time outs with 0 rewards so it pretty much just wastes your time. Again it will be great and is fun when it works the way it was intended but like any MAJOR UPDATE there is a billion problems and bugs.
The disconnect problem has been an ongoing issue since the game launched. My friends constantly get disconnected and it’s so incredibly frustrating at this point that we just end up not playing the game. And that’s a shame because the game is awesome. But this problem is unacceptable and the fact that they haven’t fixed it yet is insane to me. Also the stuck/frozen on “establishing uplink” screen is unacceptable as well because when it happens, I cannot connect to anyone whether it’s friends or randoms. It’s ridiculous that they simply refuse to fix it. Again, it’s extremely frustrating because these 2 problems have been there essentially since the game launched and they simply refused to make it the top priority? It’s like they’re refusing to acknowledge these 2 game breaking connection issues even exist. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I’d love for some insight since arrowhead is radio silent on these 2 problems.
I love fighting the illuminate. Anti-tank weapons dont counter them well, so it helps me use other loadouts instead of being the team's designated recoiless rifleman 💜
One thing Cloud, while it looks like we will fail the major order, if you take a look at saliere sector it increased from 75 to nearly 88 percent liberated. I think that when the major order completes, the Illuminate will retreat and come back with the main force as it has been confirmed by the game director himself that this is only their vanguard.
💜 I've found that some of the best fun and laughs ive had with my friends and other divers is reckless driving with the warthog. Looking forward to more vehicles (and thanks for clarifying on the controls!) 💜
my squad tried the shock trooper build on defense mission and it was the best match i ever played since my first week the squids are weak, and this means you can do dumb stuff and have fun while still getting that lvl 10 samples and xp multipliers

Not rly. They fumbled everything up to this point. One good doe snot make me forget everything they fdked up. My steam review will stay negative. I have given them so much good will in the past. Now they have to earn it.
@@racmanov they earned it back on the creek for me. A month or so of misguided nerfs cannot even come close to hindering the enjoyment and memories I've gotten from this game.
I was telling my fellow helldivers that arrowhead was cooking something good, we just all had to be patient, and this FAR exceeds my expectations. I was honestly thinking a new map, a new warbond, and maybe a new enemy type would be added.
Instead we got an entire new faction, ground vehicles (finally), city maps, melee weapons, and an AWESOME warbond.
The only issue I have with this update is that it will greatly delay the helldivers fan comic I'm working on, as I will be blasting the illuminate full of lead for the foreseeable future.

@@racmanov In my eyes, they rectified the nerfs by reversing the vast majority of them, the escalation of freedom update wasn't the best in terms of new content but it also wasn't terrible, and ya the DSS was a bit disappointing for how long we worked for it, although I see the DSS as being a platform for arrowhead to expand on in the future (hopefully). Still, the DSS shouldn't have taken that long to build for what little it does at the moment.
In regards to stealth nerfs, yes they need to do a better job at making sure all changes get into the patch notes, although none of the ones I've heard of seem that detrimental to gameplay. I probably would have never noticed them if they weren't pointed out to me.

There was leaked bug-themed armor and weapons leaked on launch. Whenever the whole gloom arc comes around a bug warbond will be released.
from what I've found: Medium Armour Pen headshots are the best way to deal with the Overseers - Senator is basically a one shot headshot, AMR is a one shot headshot and so is the Autocannon if you can land it, the landed Ships require Heavy Armour Pen to break - the default HE grenades, Impacts, Thermites and Autocannon all work when the shield is down but the Frag Grenade does not.
HMG melts the tripod's leg joints. It's my go to support weapon for the squids for now.

A friend keep asking for me, "Is there anything new in helldivers, any new warbond, its been more than a month", and I kept saying, "They probably are waiting for the game awards to announce something"... it was an obvious move, and the best move they could do. That presentation was epic and hyped up a lot of people. Even tough this game has some small things they have allways delivered what we needed we as a playerbase just need to give them a bit of trust. IMO they have proved themselves trustworthy. But dont mix up trust with complacency. 💜

suggestion for anti-squid weaponry:
Arc weaponry and gas. The gas affects even their tripods, and the arc weaponry one-shots the zombies, hits multiple targets at once, and above all: Stuns the Overseers (both types) and disables the Watcher drones. And with the drones being the only ones that can call for aid.. you effectively dont have to worry about reinforcements if theres at least one arc on your team.
wearing arc-resistant armour is recommended, not just because of friendly arc fire - but because the squids also use arc weaponry. The Watchers have an arc zap, the Tripods have a close ranged arc zap and they have tesla towers defending their larger bases/landing sites

@@splattbinat1542 Yup. Blitzer and Arc Caster both - though the caster is more reliable due to its longer range and more predictable arc.
THe blitzer still has a chance to miss when the zombies start zigzagging near you - but both are good. I'm not sure how well this holds up on T6+, but T1-T5 this is a reliable thing to use
@shoulderpyro Eriksson recommended players bring anti-tank stratagems to help take down the Illuminate spawn ships, encounter ships, and the Harvester enemies, all of which have shields (the new Anti-Tank Emplacement defensive stratagem will prove useful). You’ll need support weapons good against the horde; Eriksson suggested an assault rifle. And it’s a good idea to use the FRV to zip around the maps, particularly on city roads.

Yes, the tripods were just avoided rather than engaged and we used the orbital railcannon to deal with the ships instead but..yknow. Just cus a dev says "you have to use this" doesnt mean you have to use it.
I still remember the time when the devs went "Oh no people use this too much!" and nerfed those weapons into the ground.
Basically:
The Arc weapons annihilate their infantry
The gas confuses the walkers so you can use the chance to slip away
Orbital railcannons take out the spawner ships
REINFORCEMENT SHIPS DO NOT SHOW UP IF YOU USE ARC WEAPONRY - Arc weapons shut down the watcher drones, the only ones that can call for reinforcements.
..also, the reinforcement ships dont have shields. Just the landed ones

Is honestly using the mainly weapons with the 100% mainly damaged armor is GOD ter! Rocked it last night and was a blast and really good at the squad heads that rush you. I love it and hope more people try it.

💜 don't know about anyone else but playing against the Illuminate has been the most fun I've had in Helldivers since Meridia
To best fight them: you need somebody to have turrets, you need orbitals, either napalm or laser, 500kg bomb is too narrow, you want someone with a grenade launcher for the area denial, and, you want someone with the arc thrower because it stuns them.
That strider jumper was such an epitome of "fuck it we ball", glorious

2 of the stratagems I'm using is the Stalwart and the Orbital Gatling Barrage. One wouldn't think they'd be useful against the Illuminate but man do they have their uses for crowd clearing and being anti shield weapons. I wonder when shooting the joins does it have to be an anti tank weapon I would assume so but haven't tried with just machine guns yet will have to try.

Me and my hell brothers from czech republic are loving this new content, and we just finished writing our own faction called Iron Scholars (group of librarians a archeologists who pick up weapons because old enemy is back) 💜🇨🇿
What I don’t see is that there are a lot of players not using a hidden meta gun against the illuminate ground troops: The Arc Blitzer
It destroys the zombies and the overseers, including the flying overseers. It stuns the overseers indefinitely till you kill them in 2-3 shots. The regular adds get destroyed in one shot by a large number.
With the arc blitzer, the quasar cannon, and the drone laser backpack. Ammo is not needed.
There have been massive disconnects since the update. After testing, it has been confirmed it is when you are joining other host's games that disconnects happen.. The host connection is stable. It's the guests/clients getting dc'd.
Imagine inhabited cities on big worlds where the defense mission is you defending the actual city while the civilians escape and the longer you last the more local militia arms like a couple hmg turrets or something like that
When I had returned to the game to see the Illuminate, there were about 160,000 players on Calypso.

I want to say thanks for actually acknowledging and apologizing for some of the things that were said about the dev team before the update. I've seen so many people saying horrible things about the devs because of the length between updates and radio silence, and while I can understand some of the frustration, I draw the line at insults and slander (not saying you did this, but I'm sure you've seen some comments that took things a bit too far). I feel like there are some people in this community that take the devs for granted. So I'm glad to see someone acknowledging when they said something wrong, I hope this might inspire others to do so too (probably not but hey I appreciate it anyway).

Love squids, the environment created for their entry into the second Galactic was is amazing. Also, tripods can be taken down with frags after popping the shield with small arms fire.
7:35 I propose that if they drop an armor with 50% resistance to everything, they need to up the percentage of the other resistance armor sets to, at the very least, 99%. Give us more incentive to bring them. Also, those armors are supposed to be a collaboration with Killzone.
I have been enjoying the new armor passive with the knight. The quick reloading make sup for how fast it dumps ammo and the knights fire rate chews their shields fast.

Ive been using the armor that applies the 100% melee damage boost which makes melee play actually viable and allows you to 1v1 the armored guys without sinking a clip into them.
The Torcher (and likely flamethower) works great for the swarms of zombies they send at you, and on the overseers, and on the harvesters too. Same for the MG turret, drop them in an intersection to cover your rear, Gas grendades work well, might try the dogs breath next or maybe the purifier
My first game I loaded in me and my friend were looking around and we saw a tripod thing, he was freaking out as I screamed “EAT LEAD!” And obliterated it with my recoilless! 💜
The second that trailer finished I sent out alerts to all my local helldivers. We all have been in the fight from the minute it started. Just FYI stun baton trumps stun lance.
I figured they were working on something big but there was a lack of communications there. By the time of The Game Awards I had gotten tired of the nothing we had been given to look forward to. It's not like we the players need to know everything that's coming up and when, but there was a bit of a failure of conveying "We're working on something". Hell, they could have said "Expect a big announcement at the show" and still have shocked and surprise everybody with the "Out Now".
Far at the armor that's been found is concern, there's a big difference between 50% and 75% and especially 95%. The most useful it'll be is if we start fighting the Illuminate on fire tornado planets and you have a buddy who likes dropping gas right at your feet. Other than that it'll still be more useful to pick the armor with the higher resistance of what you're expecting.
Napalm barrage has been working for me.I also like the Arc shotgun weapon as a primary as it can stun lock enemies and is good against the hordes

These enemies focus on meat wave tactics lightly armored so the stalwart is a good choice
Or you can take the MG-43 and actually do some damage...
That resistance armor is going to be good ONLY if the other armors get a bonus to the type they protect. For example gas and fire do more damage arc weapons reach further and arc to more enemies ect.

I dropped everything I was doing to go fight the squids as soon as a I saw the announcement during the award show. Dropped in a dif-8 and immediately got disconnected and decided to solo it. Had an absolute blast running crowds like it was early days of cod zombies💜
As a diver who took some R&R while super earth high command and super earth’s government took the time to do their necessary work and research to bring back the fight, I’m now here to make sure the Illuminate don’t steal any more of our citizens delicious freedom
One thing I don’t like is if only a part of the 2 or 3 missions the host quits the progress for the galactic map doesn’t count. It should count each mission that’s completed.
The Tenderizer has been great, cuts through everything except Harvesters very quickly. Gatling turret also does a great job and Orbital lasers are fantastic for taking out clusters of landed ships.
It's funny that this mission was meant to be impossible, yet we're just barely ahead of the squids in terms of progression.
It's sad to see how negative the players have been.
Was having a blast playing with friends, but the connection issues were giving all of us quite a hard time. Glad that it's being addressed 💜
Tesla Coils easily destroys hordes of the Voteless, and you can easily get a 40x killstreak by itself.
The Arc Gun (Support) does heavy lifting as well with its lightning arcs that can hit 1-5 enemies per shot.
Idk if anyone else would agree but I hope we get normal vehicle controls like turning where you look as an toggle option. (Not using A and D)
You can also destroy the horn on the top of the harvesters to make sure they can't bring their shield back up

They were sitting on this update for days, only waiting for the VGA to finally throw us a bone.
The patriot exosuit finally gets it time to shine.
Tye minigun can shred through overseers, watchers and the joints of havesters as well as all shields.
Walk up to a spawner, minigun its shield, send a single missile in it, repeat
And to top it all off, become all but immune to voteless, they do next to no damage and they die trying to hit you when you step on them
Had lobby issues, for other people who are unaware it seems to be a port issue.
Setting up port forwarding using the official HD2 ports allowed me to start finding lobbies and allowed others to join me.
Update is fun and will eventually be great, however right now it is a complete mess. Enemies phasing through buildings, freezing in place, disappearing even. Constant time outs with 0 rewards so it pretty much just wastes your time. Again it will be great and is fun when it works the way it was intended but like any MAJOR UPDATE there is a billion problems and bugs.
The disconnect problem has been an ongoing issue since the game launched. My friends constantly get disconnected and it’s so incredibly frustrating at this point that we just end up not playing the game. And that’s a shame because the game is awesome. But this problem is unacceptable and the fact that they haven’t fixed it yet is insane to me. Also the stuck/frozen on “establishing uplink” screen is unacceptable as well because when it happens, I cannot connect to anyone whether it’s friends or randoms. It’s ridiculous that they simply refuse to fix it. Again, it’s extremely frustrating because these 2 problems have been there essentially since the game launched and they simply refused to make it the top priority? It’s like they’re refusing to acknowledge these 2 game breaking connection issues even exist. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I’d love for some insight since arrowhead is radio silent on these 2 problems.
I love fighting the illuminate. Anti-tank weapons dont counter them well, so it helps me use other loadouts instead of being the team's designated recoiless rifleman 💜

One thing Cloud, while it looks like we will fail the major order, if you take a look at saliere sector it increased from 75 to nearly 88 percent liberated. I think that when the major order completes, the Illuminate will retreat and come back with the main force as it has been confirmed by the game director himself that this is only their vanguard.
💜 I've found that some of the best fun and laughs ive had with my friends and other divers is reckless driving with the warthog. Looking forward to more vehicles (and thanks for clarifying on the controls!) 💜
