This is actually a really good cover. It has the aspects from Iron Maiden, with a modern more heavy touch. Perfect for what Machine Head was going for.
I don’t remember what year this cover came out, but I do remember being skeptical & remember being blown away by the respect Machine Head had for this song. They totally did their own thing but completely did the song justice 100%! Great job fellas!
Fab cover and deserves the recognition as such. I do not understand why anyone has to make the UK / USA comparison. I am from the UK and naturally find offence to people criticising music or anything that comes from my home country. However I also appreciate and understand that the USA are our friends and would not say a bad word against them. Music or anything else that comes to mind. The fact is, an awesome American band decided to do a Legendary English band cover. This shows the respect they have for each other and tradition for the past. No matter how you spin it, the best bands today regardless of what nation they come from, will always refer to the greats....Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath etc... Metallica for example are huge fans of DP. How many bands have they influenced over the years? How many interviews have we seen or read about the influence of Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, (The old greats) to many new musicians today. Machine Head are an Awesome, awesome band and I love their music. This is a fantastic cover of one of my favourite Maiden songs. So lets stick together in this subject....I would rather listen to a shit cover (although this is not one of them) from a metal band, than listen to anything that is artificial and fake in the other music genres that plague our ears....many spring to mind..... Regardless of country, bands and musicians will refer to the classics. Hence why we are all on this page to check out a Heavy band covering a classic
Indeed, wisdom teaches those who listen that music is a compilation, not a competition, and especially when it's bloody fuckin' brilliant. As for another band from another country, check out Cradle of Filth's version of this song (fuck they rock it even faster than Maiden's original...truly epic cover of this classic song)! Peace out from Sin City, USA.
This is why Machine Head is one of my all time favorite metal bands...they make great fire on their own but still treat the classics with such respect! 🤘♥️🤘
I completely respect the original but this cover is the bomb! Its heavy layers that Machine Head is know for brings this song to a new level. Its bone chilling
I like the orignal song and has been great since it was recorded and played so many times, not being killed and is still fresh today. Machine head takes its own soul of what the song is and paints it in a darker light and is done very well. I love both versions
Honestly, I would take this version over Maidens. but it's probably because I can't stand operatic style vocals like Maiden has. They've never done it for me. 2 minutes till midnight is the only Maiden song that I can tolerate. hahahaha

First time really listening to this song in a while remember falling in love to metal when I was a young kid in the early 90s...my older cousins introduced me to this thank god 🤘
Damn! I Iike the bite in his vocal! No offense mister Dickerson but this kid did the song a service. Turn it up!
I'm usually not a big fan of covers but this one is very exceptional, it's amazing. I love it, they did an incredible job with this cover
I bet iron maiden loves this! Well done M/H 🤘🤘🤘
Correction. EXTREMELY well done.
Best cover ever
I like the orignal song and has been great since it was recorded and played so many times, not being killed and is still fresh today. Machine head takes its own soul of what the song is and paints it in a darker light and is done very well. I love both versions
Cool cover, really liked how they changed the part from 3:37. No band can compete with maiden's original though, gives me the chills everytime
Honestly, I would take this version over Maidens. but it's probably because I can't stand operatic style vocals like Maiden has. They've never done it for me. 2 minutes till midnight is the only Maiden song that I can tolerate. hahahaha
Ensiferum Dime wow, somethings really wrong with you. operatic? and you choose 2 minutes of all songs?
Was soll man dazu sagen. Great Guys Thänxe
GODLIKE !!!! I love the original and that cover completely blew me away :-)))) Got the Maiden-Tabs and THIS inspires me to do it on my guitar agenda again ;-))))
