Broken Quickie Q500 Wheels

- The jockey wheels on the Quickie Q500 powered wheelchair seem to be unreasonably weak. We've broken two so far, just in normal use. At £40 each it's getting expensive. Is this a common issue? Does anyone know of alternative wheels that could be fitted?

I am discouraged from getting it after learning about bad quality. Did you have any other problems with it?
What wheelchair are you using now?
Hi. We've had no other issues whatsoever and the chairs been great. We have broken 2 front wheels now though. Both times it was going slowly over a small curb - i.e.the 10-15mm step at a dropped curb, from road to pavement. If any turn is made climbing such a step, it seems that a side load can arise on the front wheel, potentially breaking the plastic wheel. My daughter's ultra carefully now and we haven't broken any wheels for well over a year. We do carry a spare one in the car though, just in case. I hope this helps.
@Greeves Great! Thank you for your response; it is very helpful. I better carry a spare castor wheel with me, too.
I think I will get either Quickie Q500M or Quickie Jive M. Not sure what are the most significant differences yet. I need something very reliable and versatile.
Thanks again.
@@mg14d26No worries. Our chair is my daughters & she finds is very good. The ability of the Quickie to rotate on the spot is a great help in getting around shops, etc. it's good in paved open spaces too, with good speed & range. It's less good on uneven ground though; the drive wheel can lose traction negotiating a dip in the ground that the small wheels span. 'Speed bump' type obstacles & ramps aren't always great either; the chair sits back on it's suspension on the way up and pitches forward abruptly over the brow. Can be quite frightening, especially if you're not expecting it.
@@Greeves @Greeves Thank you for your feedback on your daughters wheelchair. I think I should consider Q700M as it should have better suspension especially on uneven survive surface and bumps. I might need a wheelchair with light off road capabilities as I cannot risk getting stuck if traveling alone.
