I don't usually accept ad campaigns BUT this one really resonated with me - so I'm partnering with MyHeritage to provide you with the opportunity to sign up for a 14-day free trial and enjoy all the amazing features MyHeritage has to offer. If you decide to continue your subscription, you’ll get a 50% discount. Just use this link. bit.ly/nicolawhite So why did I make an exception for MyHeritage? Well I've been looking at family history for so long related to my mudlarking finds but have never paid a great deal of attention to my own family tree - so it's been fascinating to finally do that and I cant believe how far I managed to go back in such a short space of time. I've also been playing around with animating old photos, colourising them, and sharing these with my Mum and the rest of my family. Take a look at the ad in this video, kindly directed by my son Angelo, and let me know what you think. (seriously, you have to try the animate feature!). oh and ps see if you can spot Angelo's feet in the video first time you watch it! Nicola xxx
What an amazing tool that My Haratage offers. I definitely want to do what you just did with your family photos. I am fortunate to have much of my family’s history however I have a Great great aunt that dressed in buckskin living in time of the old west of America. Pistols and knife by her side. Can’t wait to hear your family story as well. 👍😎🤩
MyHeritage appears to have been bought out by an investment firm in 2021 but is apparently being run as a private company - which is good news. Some sites that are owned by investment companies sell the mailing list so beware. Also be careful what information you share on your family trees, there are privacy laws in place now that prohibit including anyone that could still be alive but it is something to keep in mind. I actually have a name and email address that I use for no other purpose than signing up on genealogy sites and receive a whole bunch of crap advertising and such. I will understand Nicola if you delete my comment - I have nothing bad to say about MyHeritage - just a word of caution when using these sites.
Oh,I have an animated photo of my dear grandmother,Marie Montalto, her lovely face coming to life makes all of my family weep. She died 3 days short of her 100th birthday. Her funeral was on her 100th birthday.😞
I do not need therapy, I watch Nicola White's mudlarking videos. Thank you so much of everything in your videos, the joy and the hope you find, point out and share to everyone of us. 👏👍🙏🌞❤️
That baby cygnet preening its mother was beyond precious! And then there is your rubbish swan which is amazing!!! You have an incredible eye to be able to look at all that rubbish and create something so beautiful. Absolutely loved this video from beginning to end!! Still would love to see more pics of the grandbaby!! 🥰 Love from DeeAnn Connecticut 🇺🇸
The young mudlarkers! So cute. It was good to see Fran. I always look forward to your videos. The music and water lapping on the shore is so peaceful. I'm enjoying the baby Swans so much. I've tried to explain your videos to my friends and they replied, "You watch some lady in England dig around in the mud for trash on the banks of a river?" Something got lost in my translation.🙄 It's 104 degrees in Texas (40 celsius) and I'm re-watching your past videos. Thank you for sharing.
Nicole, your wildlife clips are spectacular! Thank you for including wildlife. It still amazes me that they have been able to adapt to all the trash of lead, plastic , sharp glass etc. I just love watching your videos. Thank you for making them 🦆 It's good to see your friend, Fran, again.
Always love to see your finds on the Thames. That is weird to find that suitcase. The swan you made was amazing and seeing the mom and babies was adorable. Especially the one on its moms back!
Hi Nicola.... I'm sure this isn't the one you found, but several years ago I was walking over 🤔🤔🤔 Warterloo Bridge (?) Behind a woman in a big hurry who dropped the handle of her suitcase several times, which then snaped.... then as she struggled with it she managed to break a heel on her stilettos: then - in a screaming explosion of anger tears and frustration - picked up her case and tossed it in the Thames, to the slack-jawed shock of all the commuters following her. This was YEARS ago.
What a awesome start to mudlarking these kiddos have. Love the suitcase mystery and note in a bottle story. And lovely to see Fran again! Thank you Nicola!!!! Great seeing you in Chill Bill & Sci finds videos too! ❤️
This episode was full of fun and interactions, really interesting and informative. David’s reading was in par with the era content. Thank you Nicola and as usual, lots of love and hugs. Dana
I love to see children get interested in something like this. What a wonderful way to teach history. I love genealogy and it sure got me into history. When you find your interest, history comes with it. I had a friend who used to pick up bits and bobs from the ground and he called them "parking lot treasures". He would put them in bird baths in his yard or around in his landscaping, in his potted plants, etc.
aww, baby swans are so cute sitting on mama. OMG. That animation is crazy. (and a bit creepy) Wow, what a story. I agree about being able to zoom in. I miss that when using my gopro. I used to zoom in all the time with my little Sony.
Absolutely love seeing your lovely friend Fran again! Wonderful finds and stories! So nice to see the kids and their finds! And of course all the beauty of nature and beautiful birds, especially the swan and her cygnets. Have a great week! xox
First, I just love your new zoom camera photography of the wildlife, especially the lovely 🦢 mama swan with her babies!! It was definitely nature tv quality! Second, you did such a fantastic job with the “My Heritage” informative infomercial you did, I sure hope they pay you well for doing such a good job! Overall, as always I look forward to every one of your videos, they really are done professionally. I love “Si Finds” as well. I’m unable to send a proper thank you gift just now, but I will soon. 🥰
Thank you Adele. That is so kind of you and Im delighted that you enjoyed the MyHeritage Ad!! Even though it's an Ad I still thought it was quite interesting :) xx
As you were the first, of now many, Mudlarking channels I subscribed to 2 or 3 year ago, you will always have a special place in my heart. I wouldn't even have a TH-cam channel nor have met so many wonderful people without having found your channel. I'll never be able to thank you enough, other than hoping to help spread smiles and happiness to others. I guess at 50, I've turned into one of those sentimental types who find it important to be sure that people who deserve thanks, know that they are appreciated. I may even thank people too much, nah, never enough thanks in this world. I wanted to again, let you know how thankful I am for this. Now to watch this exciting looking video!💖😊👍🤗🥰
Hi Nicola, hi Fran as well. Such an action packed video. From beautiful swans, beautiful children, and crazy finds. Seeing photos of your family tree remarkable. Have a wonderful week. Joyce ❤️🇺🇸🙏
Hi Nicola! Loved your swan art! I think Fran's dandy button was special. The zoom on your new camera is a great feature, I can only imagine the wildlife photos you will get.
Thank you Nic for another wonderful opportunity to share your adventures with you. I love that you are enthusiastic about getting children mudlarking. The more they are outdoors the more they learn to appreciate nature. That always puts a smile on my face. Thanks again.
Thank you for your thorough account of this adventure. Your videos never disappoint! It's good to see an honest person do the right thing by contacting the authorities when finding items that are suspect. The videos from the children were very delightful!
Beautiful sculpture Nicola. My favourite find was the mudlarking children. Please do another challenge. People are happy and doing family things together and we are happy hearing their stories. It's amazing how many lives you've changed.
Oh my goodness, there were so many great things in this video, but the children really stole the show! It was such a delight to see what they had found and hear why those items intrigued them. At my childhood home out in the countryside, there was a creek that was about 10-12 feet deep and at least that wide in spots. During droughts, it would eventually dry up and my parents would take us for long walks on the creek bed, mudlarking, although I didn't know it had a name at the time! I always loved the history: tiny old cobalt glass medicine bottles from before screw-caps were invented, then green and clear glass bottles, little tins, the occasional baby doll head, antique bicycle parts, and beautiful mother-of-pearl interiors of huge, empty freshwater mussel shells that once were plentiful in the area but sadly died out. It's nice to know that other kids are out there exploring the world and discovering history and treasure. ❤️
Nicola, Thank you for a feel good video, Those children are so adorable, but there is something special about that very young lady with the beautiful enunciation. Cheers, Rik Spector
Ah, it opens with a lovely piano concerto and sublime views of goslings and cygnets! I love the 5 Finds Challenge--I had no car for 2 years, and in that time I became fascinated by the odd bits of metal lying on the road or in the gutter. It often increased my burden by significant measure to bring some rusted oddity home with my groceries, but my treasures added quirky charm to my garden. And oh goodness me! Your video ends with even more sublime images of our waterfowl friends--and an exquisite tribute to them constructed of your finds! Your new camera has wonderful possibilities, much like your creative sensibilities. Thank you, Nicola!
Oh! Ohh! Your ‘find 5’ challenge,I forgot about that!! Oh,the resulting videos, those delightful children, sharing,it just touched my heart. Nicola, you prompt young people to the awareness that is history. You are a mentor for future generations, and they ,surely, must appreciate you. ❤️
If you still have the paper from the glass bottle, try putting it under a UV light. Depending on what was used to write the message, it may become visible.
Enjoyed this video of you & your friend Fran mudlarking together !!! Interesting little items yall found !!! The children mudlarkers were so cute & did good at finding items !!! ♥️🙂
Love the recycle-Swan (with the hidden pig) -- taking things cast off, tossed away, thought to be of no use -- and making something beautiful from them, even if only temporarily, brings some sorely needed positivity to the world....
Great episode Nicola. I loved the young treasure hunters at the end. Perfect to encourage the next generation to carry on the hobby we love. Beautiful art swan at end. Deej💜
How amazing to see so much interesting objects all over the shore. I love the birds you showed with babies, just adorable. The Egyptian geese are beautiful birds, I've never seen them until you had them in a previous video.
I just loved the children finds they were all so adorable. What a wonderful addition to this slightly long video. But I don’t mind it was a great pice of work...😎
What a magnificent video packed with so much discovery. I’m so happy to see folks of all ages around the world outside looking for little curiosities in their parts of the world. Seeing discovery and excitement through the eyes of a child is heartwarming. Thanks for taking us all along!
Great video! So much to take in. Loved the voice over from David and Frans’ amazing button day. Always love me a letter in a bottle. Great day Nicole! 🦋
I always love the river babies in spring, thanks. You and Fran found so many lovely things, I am looking forward to seeing a cleaned up padlock. Thanks for the suitcase/ message bottle story and the cute challenge entries.
Hello Nicola, had a fun time with you and Fran watching everything you found! Nice finds and story about the suitcase and messages in bottles. Great day for you and all your subscribers. 👍😊💜thanks
Its great that these kids are developing their curiosity, learning about history or the world and most importantly building great memories with their parents on the best days of their lives at no cost. You can put your children in soccer, swimming, hockey, dance, soccer etc. But their best memories will be the time they spent with you. Their is no better gift than time itself with your loved ones. My Daughter is 33yrs old and one of her best memories was when we really struggled financially and we would make a picnic lunch, going to the school yard to eat and play in the swings
Love the plastic bottle/message in a bottle message(s) how very random! Shame about the suitcase but there is still hope yet. What lovely finds you and Fran had too xx
Those little cygnets are goooorgeous! So soft and fluffy! Your plastic art is so poignant too. LOVED the history as well! But what I especially loved was the MyHeritage ad. I lost my beloved Father last September and my beloved Mother in February, both by natural causes, (they could never stand to be apart) and I have so many of their old photos that need repairing, plus I have an urge to know more about my ancestors, AND the animation thing amazing!!. Thank you lovely Nicola. Your videos have helped me get through my sometimes unbearable grief, more than you will ever know xx Teresa ❤🇦🇺
Thank you so much for picking up fishing line and hooks. That stuff causes so much suffering. I’m in wildlife rescue and rehab and can’t tell you how many animals get tangled up and suffer great pain and injury, often for lengthy periods of time. Or, as you said, die. I once spent a full 6 weeks, almost every day, for hours each time, trying to capture a Canada goose (she could fly, run, swim away just fine) that had line so tightly wound around the leg and for such a long time, that it was deeply buried down inside the flesh. Around and around and around, coils and coils of it. It was awful. I celebrated like you wouldn’t believe when I finally got her and was able to remove all that line and relieve her terrible pain. She spent quite a bit of time in rehab healing and was eventually released. Pick up all line, please, folks and then don’t forget to dispose of it in a manner such that it will never cause harm again. I burn any I find. P.S. Fran is my favorite mudlarking companion of yours ❤️
Small and unusual? Love, you introduced us to Si and Alex from NM.. those are two WONDERFUL small and unusual finds that brighten our lives already!! 😉
Try this: Use an ultraviolet (black) light to examine seemingly empty wet message, then dry message in a bottle, for the unseen written message contents! The possibilities are compelling.
Love the seagull dancing to the music. Fun finds in beautiful Guernsey. Just went to a family reunion on the beach, everyone had fun looking for sea glass from pacific northwest USA.
Hello Nicola, this video was so well done. Enjoyed seeing Fran again and seeing her treasures from the Thames. The little fledgelands or ducklings are a treat to behold Greetings from North Carolina U.S.A.
Graduated HS in 1974. Then off to Nursing School at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Seems so long ago. And going full circle will retire this September. Forty-four years as a Registered Nurse. Labor & Delivery, NICU and Postpartum Maternal/Child care for all but the first 9 months of my career. I love it when you find things with a date.
Your videos are always so much fun to watch and very informative. I love the way you involve others in hunting for treasure. I have learned much about my ancestral home in London (My family lived there in the early 1700s.), and hope to visit one day. I would love to find my own clay pipe!. Thanks for all you do for the environment and for entertaining us, Nicola. Blessings from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, USA.
Nicola... I absolutely love your mudlarking videos. This one is no exception! Thank you for sharing your joy when you spot and then collect your finds... and the Frans' finds. I appreciate your researching the history behind each one. I am also impressed with the way you include footage of the wildlife, and river traffic... quite entertaining, educational, and informative! Please keep sharing!
Such lovely video of the birds at the start and end- love to see the coot feet! The "finds" swan is so beautiful, and the little piggy- so whimsical! And of course the mudlarking and the saga of the suitcase!
There you go again inspiring young ones! I think you could easily have your own mudlarking tours or classes geared toward the younger crowd, you do so well with them, it would be a joy to watch as well!💖😊
An absolutely superb post Nicola. It is, In my opinion, your best ever yet, and I've seen a lot from you for what seems a long time, but probably not, the years go by too quick!
It’s so nice to promote mud larking for the children. Wouldn’t it be nice to give them something from your collection as a remembrance from you. I do enjoy your videos from start to finish. Keep up the good work. 😀
Awesome! I think that Auxiliary Fire Service was during WW2, to free up young men for service, they recruited older men and women to be fire fighters, if I remember! Definitely the star find on this outing! 👍 You mentioned your lunch, next weekend I am supposed to meet my brother at a Cajun seafood restaurant. They have good fried crab claws and fried oysters! My brother just got back from Africa, he is activated as an Army reservist every few years, he is an Ordnance Warrant Officer, that is what Ian V. Hogg was, his Colonel rank was honorary from his time as an instructor at Sandhurst.... Anyway, nice video!!!! 👍😆
Nicola, I just love the adventures you get to go on through the objects you find on the Thames. The best part is that I get to go with you on these adventures even though I’m in NY. Just adore your videos. Lots of love from Diane in upstate New York. Keep up the fun.

Nic, I use Ancestry and have had fun looking up info on pipe makers and such along with you. Brilliant partnership!

Oh,I have an animated photo of my dear grandmother,Marie Montalto, her lovely face coming to life makes all of my family weep.
She died 3 days short of her 100th birthday.

I already belong to Myheritage.

Love how you include the wildlife and the Surroundings.
and the wildlife…
I enjoy the wildlife as much as the marking finds.
Thank you DeeAnn! lots of love xx
Thanks for all the floofy baby birds! Hi, Fran! I hope the owner sees this and gets his suitcase at al. I do love your swan!
The young mudlarkers! So cute. It was good to see Fran. I always look forward to your videos. The music and water lapping on the shore is so peaceful. I'm enjoying the baby Swans so much. ha ha that's funny Janetta. I suppose that your friend's description is actually correct! :) xx
I lived in Plano for 8 years. Loved Texas. But it was hot hot
Howdy neighbor! Greetings from Austin!
Nicole, your wildlife clips are spectacular! Thank you for including wildlife. It still amazes me that they have been able to adapt to all the trash of lead, plastic , sharp glass etc. I just love watching your videos. Thank you for making them 🦆
It's good to see your friend, Fran, again.
Nicola you can never go on too long, I love your content and your discoveries. The found objects swan and birds was fantastic!❤️🇨🇦
Always love to see your finds on the Thames. That is weird to find that suitcase. The swan you made was amazing and seeing the mom and babies was adorable. Especially the one on its moms back!

That was a wonderful video Nicola. Thankyou❤

Dana
The kids made my day! Would love to know the story of the suitcase.

Genealogy is such an interresting hobby. Even more interresting than researching the mudlark finds because this history is related to yourself.
Love seeing Fran. She has the warmest smile. I really enjoy the positivity in your videos. ❤️
That is a beautiful opening. It is wonderful to see the small ones with their parents.

A very relaxed quest along the Thames.
Nice to the see the young mudlarkers.

Awe those lil cygnets :D How cute are they! I love the story of the message in the bottle too. What another fab adventure :)
Thank you to all the kids who shared their finds, I enjoyed watching! :-)

If you still have the paper from the glass bottle, try putting it under a UV light. Depending on what was used to write the message, it may become visible.
Or try using chalk over it to see if the is a slight imprint that can be read
I was going to suggest uv light. No idea if it would work, though.
I love the young mudlarkers and their enthusiasm! My heart!
Again a wonderful time with you
I'm totally hooked. The babies being fed in the nest!
I love Fran! She is such a genuine soul!! 💚
Oh my days, birds galore! Such sweet babies!❤️ Will now watch the rest of the video for the cool finds!😄
Enjoyed this video of you & your friend Fran mudlarking together !!! Interesting little items yall found !!! The children mudlarkers were so cute & did good at finding items !!! ♥️🙂

So nice to hear from your young mudlarkers! So very sweet of you to have excellent winners of your contest
Great episode Nicola. I loved the young treasure hunters at the end. Perfect to encourage the next generation to carry on the hobby we love. Beautiful art swan at end. Deej💜
I loved looking at the children's finds! More, if possible.
Thank you. Yes, I think that soon I"ll do a shoutout and ask for more kids to share their finds. xx

What lovely finds you and Fran had too xx
Thx Maarina xx
Thank you Teresa. I'm so glad the videos have been helpful to you. Lots of love nicola xx

Love your videos Nicola not just your finds, the wildlife videos are spectacular, thank you.
Thank you Sandra. Xx
Small and unusual? Love, you introduced us to Si and Alex from NM.. those are two WONDERFUL small and unusual finds that brighten our lives already!! 😉
That was a cracking video, Nicola. Oh good grief, when your 'photo' was animated, I actually let out a huge WOW...what a thing to be able to do!!
isn't it so surreal?! I couldn't believe it!
Que du Bonheur🎬Beau Travail comme d'habitude🔬Alex From France🍀🙏😉🌹
Merci Alex xx

I really loved the 5 things stories oh ! And the swan with babies. So beautiful and the gorgeous art work. What a treat ! Beautiful 😍
Thank you
The beautiful swans. Your creativity in using the trash - ♡
Loved the video. TY
Try this: Use an ultraviolet (black) light to examine seemingly empty wet message, then dry message in a bottle, for the unseen written message contents! The possibilities are compelling.
Thank you. Will try
@@nicolawhitemudlark I'm still interested in finding out if this works using a black light, since it just might!
Good Evening lovely seeing Fran, I love a button x thank you ❤ for the wildlife. Thoroughly enjoyed watching.
Hi Nicole. Loved seeing your footage of the beautiful birds. That was ab exciting day with your finds. Love your videos.
Love the seagull dancing to the music. Fun finds in beautiful Guernsey. Just went to a family reunion on the beach, everyone had fun looking for sea glass from pacific northwest USA.
Gosh Nicola, you look just like a descendant of the second little girl who was animated. What fun!
Hello Nicola, this video was so well done. Enjoyed seeing Fran again and seeing her treasures from the Thames. The little fledgelands or ducklings are a treat to behold
Greetings from North Carolina U.S.A.
Thank you!
Oh wow Nicola, you put the BBC to a lower level. Thank you so much for your share of the life you live. Just brilliant., X
That's so kind of you. Thank you!
Love all the wildlife you have on your videos - the birds and chicks are wonderful.
I do enjoy these videos. I esp like learninh the history of some of your finds
Thank you Eileen! xx
Thank you
Thank you very much! xx
I especially love the bird shots in this one. As always thank you for your wonderful content.
Such lovely video of the birds at the start and end- love to see the coot feet! The "finds" swan is so beautiful, and the little piggy- so whimsical!
And of course the mudlarking and the saga of the suitcase!
Thanks Liz
Dramatic story Nicola about you and the suitcase. Enjoyed a giggle. Always interesting stories coming from your channel
Your nature snippets are always great, but the swan family was extra special. 🦢
Great finds. Glad you are home safe n sound. Love the Swans n the lock!!! Thank You
oh my! the swan of found objects at the end is stunning! loved the young people sharing found objects too.
Thank you!
An excellent relaxing video and the swan at the end was a clever creation. Best to you and yours
Thank you!
Thanks Mick!
So enjoyable Nicola, every aspect. Thank you. X.
Oh shes a doll look at her little finds good job hun .
It’s so nice to promote mud larking for the children. Wouldn’t it be nice to give them something from your collection as a remembrance from you. I do enjoy your videos from start to finish. Keep up the good work.
😀
Thanks Patrice. Yes it would be nice but it takes me so long to wrap everything up and send - I could do with an assistant!!
Really enjoyed this fine video, and the children were delightful.
The Swan & babies are wonderful. Truly full of Wonder!
Awesome! I think that Auxiliary Fire Service was during WW2, to free up young men for service, they recruited older men and women to be fire fighters, if I remember! Definitely the star find on this outing! 👍
You mentioned your lunch, next weekend I am supposed to meet my brother at a Cajun seafood restaurant.
Thanks Dustin! And enjoy your scrummy lunch. Sounds delicious. Your family tree sounds fascinating! xx
Nicola, I just love the adventures you get to go on through the objects you find on the Thames. The best part is that I get to go with you on these adventures even though I’m in NY. Just adore your videos. Lots of love from Diane in upstate New York. Keep up the fun.
Thank you very much Diane! xx
Thank you Nicola for a very cool adventure and all the lovely wildlife coverage.
