You must be very young I've Loved this album since 1981 when I finally got around to buying this particular Elvis album. First time I heard the name Elvis was 1968 then again in 1970 and finally became a full-fledged Fanatic in 1973 after the Aloha from Hawaii special.
I know that Elvis was discouraged with Harem Scarum, but you can see he did the best he could with the what he had to work with. As always his looks and voice make up for everything else that was lacking in this film. The best part for me was the emotion he gave when singing Paradise. He gave it his all.
I actually like this soundtrack lp his records were still selling great at this stage of his career elvis looked great as a shiek and was acting with the beautiful Mary Ann mobely rip great show as always Scott
I went to see this movie on release in 1965. I was 12, years old. Loved it. The colour the beautiful girls the action and of course Elvis singing. So Close is the highlight song of course. The rest of soundtrack has Elvis in fine voice but a few of the songs let him down. I actually think this movie has improved with age. Perhaps because in 1965 it looked a bit silly. Now it's a bit of a period piece with Elvis looking and sounding at his best. Thanks for the insights as always.
Las cosas que se hacen desde el corazón se notan...gran trabajo..no te preocupes..se nota que tú le pones corazón..desde España... siempre Elvis Aron Presley..
I absolutely love this soundtrack! I don't understand why it gets such a bad rep. Perhaps cause the movie was so silly. Elvis' voice is amazing on this soundtrack and I always enjoy hearing it. Songs that stand out for me are, Kismet, Animal Instinct, harum holiday, Shake that tambourine, and of course, So Close Yet So Far From Paradise. I love that song! Great video as always Scotty! And love the homemade Turban. 😊❤️
Yes the movie detracts from the soundtrack..now I’m not saying it’s the best by any means but it does have some highlights which explains the never ending talent of Elvis
I like Harum Scarum and I really like the soundtrack. Elvis doesn’t sound bored he’s really trying especially on So Close Yet so Far. I’m a big fan of his movies as they are entertaining even Elvis said so himself and they are so much fun. Keep up the good work.
Exactly I’ve read that comment about being bored then everyone jumps on it..ok he’s not totally enamoured with the material but he gives his all..can’t do no more..thankyou 😊
Elvis looked damn good in 1965 while he was filming HARUM SCARUM...it's a shame I was still a baby back then...every girl would have loved to spend more than 1001 nights with him in paradise... Thankyou Scotty for your interesting presentation, love your costume...don't GO EAST YOUNG MAN!!!😉😊👍❤💯🙏
As I’ve said in other videos Glenn..if you listen to F&J..PHS..he is starting to sing louder and project more..the finesse from earlier years was not there..not because he couldn’t but I just believe it kept him from boredom on some of the tracks.. hit the bigger notes that way you don’t have to put as much care into them..this is where he was at this point..he could still do it just listen to HGTA..Give him a Stradivarius of a song and he will make it purr..on the other hand give him dross and..well you know the out come
So close ..yet so far is the best track in the movie ... ... n very underrated... your very creative ... 🤣 Didn't Elvis wear a turban at a karate event because he had a bad hair day ... lol.... great vid😊
Great review ! Love to see more of these. People always say how bad these films like Harum Scarum, Double Trouble, Clambake and other Kissin' Cousins are. But actually on a rainy sunday watching these sitting in the sofa, the smell of pancakes coming from the kitchen ... it takes me back to when i was a kid. Good times, happy feeling and a fun watch.
Thank you very much Scotty how refreshing to actually hear somebody talk about Harum Scarum not one of my favourite films but the Soundtrack has its moments. I think So Close Yet So Far From Paradise is one of the great movie songs that Elvis Recorded and I also love Wisdom Of The Ages wish it was in the film. I have the FTD version of the soundtrack on CD and have always thought the recording’s sounded terrific great stereo separation and thanks for pointing out these songs were recorded at studio B now I know why they sound great thanks for that Scotty cheers Carl

Lots of information there, sometimes we forget how good certain songs of the '60 films are. Scotty, you and Craig are fantastic don't worry ! The effort and time you put into these videos will always be worth it because the end products are always fantastic and fit for "The King"!!!! Your doing him proud , TCB always!! Thanks lads!!
Hello Scotty, I'm gonna be honest because that's the only way I know how to be. I loved every movie Elvis made and with Harum Scarum, he was so dayumm drop dead gorgeous, when he sang Wisdom Of The Ages,Paradise and So Close Yet So Far Apart it literally took my breath away. There's beauty to be found in each song if one is brave enough to feel it and brave enough to see it. I bow to you Sheik Scotty because you clearly do. I love your video's and this is another favorite. Keep them coming my friend. You and Craig put so much of yourselves in each one and I feel it ! With Thanksgiving coming, you just made mine even more thankful and delicious. If y'all have Thanksgiving at the same time as us in the states..Happy Thanksgiving to you, Craig and your beautiful mum Yvonne and your families..Thank you Scotty~~ Janet

Hoss I've been watching you for quite some time now. Your freaking awesome. I love this album. I love the studio mix out of this as I do paradise, Hawaiian style.
The second I saw you on this video ... "Hi Heeled Sneakers" flashed thru my mind... "put your wig hat on your head" !! Classic!! Loved that prop and really enjoyed this vid. It's the first time I've ever really listened to any of this soundtrack. I've had a change of heart. Thanks, Scotty, for that awakening. Anxious to see what's next. 💕💕~~ Sharon
Of course we want this in ( one day and not two or three) I haven’t washed my hair in three months, I’m ready for any thing.... waiting, waiting, waiting....
Hi Scotty's Harem Scarum, one cool album great film like all elvis films he did elvis had great voice in the world from 54-1977 we be in all our heart forever cool video scotty's keep up great work you do for all us elvis fans
The “Double Features” were fantastic! I needed several of them to complete my collection in the late 90’s and found ALL the ones I needed at the “Elvis For Everyone “ convention in Memphis(Brooks Rd, I think, near Graceland). Awesome trip-1999!
smashing video Scotty. . how nice to hear positive things things said about Elvis s work... the 60 s critics weren't kind at all were they?. thanks for all you do.. (loved the outtakes! ).
Harum Scarum isn't top of my movie picks.but. it does have some great moments in it and Elvis looks just fantastic ! ! ! So close and yet so far is my favorite song and scene from the movie ! Thanks for the great pics and facts ! ! Another great vi video !
That’s exactly it..that’s why I took a light hearted approach to it..I left out the part about Col Parker wanting a talking camel..that would have sealed the deal for me😂
Hello from England We have a Free To Air TV Channel called Talking Pictures. They have only been around about 6 years but they show a wide variety of vintage films and TV series etc from both UK and America They have been showing ELVIS films recently like G.I.Blues and Fun In Acapulco. I remember back in the early 1980's BBC and ITV did show the films and i remember watching them and yes we only had 2 channels until 1982 but never thought anything about the music - i just watched the film for what it was -just a film but OH MY i was younger THEN - age has caught up with me Having started to watch the films again the Soundtrack "mean more to me" I like all the soundtracks to the films
I agree Scotty, this record and its songs grew on me over time. I think it is really a underated record. I always loved the cover art. Well done and well said. Thank You Scotty and Craig!
The British Media Have Never Given Elvis Credit And Respect The Man Deserves .Mid Sixties (Even Late Fifties) Elvis Had No Chance Of Getting Any Good Reviews Most Of It Been Lavished On That Geezer Who Drove A BUS With His Mates Who Spoke And Acted As If They'd Just Won University Challenge . My Boy My Boy What We Had To Put With .
Breathtaking as always ⚡️Elvis ‘s voice and his eyes really hit home … As I feel in all his movies. Scotty thank you for the information on the costumes and that sword 🗡, I feel it’s all so interesting EVERYTHING ELVIS touches me so 🙌🏼Beautiful songs in Harem Scarum ! Elvis could do his magic and turn it GOLDEN ⭐️ Thank you doing it your TCB WAY👍🏼very enjoyable ⚡️🤝
I bought this album in 1979 ( I was 15) , I LOVE the HARUM SCARUM (Harem Holiday) soundTrack ALbum and Movie +++ in Europe - did that movie actually show in the Film - the title HAREM HOLIDAY ??? +++++++++++++
I'm happy to hear this praise for HS. I picked up a used copy of this album in the 70s and have never tired of it. It's kind of like "Elvis meets exotica," which was a refreshing approach. I love the extended FTD version of Harum Scarum. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sings along with this album.
Hmmm..what can I say...WELL...this is the film that Col.Parker wanted to have one of the camel's talk ? Lucky for us the Director refused the idea .This is the Album Mojo Nixon was commenting on years ago in a interview, he said this is the soundtrack..Where Elvis vocals are to up front and to loud and the instrumental backing track was in the far distance and a lower volume..Also in Priscilla's book Elvis and Me she said Elvis wore his Harum Scarum costume home and ate with it on at the Dinner table...Mirage is a nice tune !!!!
I’m in my 70s now and have quite a lot of vinyl Elvis albums from the early 60s onwards but never play them now as I also have many on cd . The albums are mostly mono as I only had a cheap mono record player as a teen. I’d like to give them away but don’t have a clue who would want them. On a different note regarding the movie studios re-using props, when I was watching my dvd of Paradise H Style, I noticed one of the bevy of beautiful girls in it was wearing the exact dress worn by Joan Blackman in Blue Hawaii. It’s the yellow and green floral dress she wears when meeting Elvis/Chad off the plane in the first scenes. The flowers etc are in the exact same position so it’s definitely the same dress and not just the same fabric used on another dress. That’s my piece of useless information for today!
Great video buddy, and you never looked so good 😎 Need to look deeper in this album I do not own any copy of. I kinda like what I hear 😊 Thanks for sharing!
Hi Scotty...what an entertaining little package this was..I really enjoyed it..I've never seen the film but funnily I have the alblum..the songs sound great too. Love the Blue Peter reviz, I thought they only used old toilet paper rolls...get down shep!!.. can we have more bloopers and outtakes.. brilliant..as for the headgear..every time you do an album review now we want something similar..how about some lamb chop side burns..great entertainment great show great job..love it all
Hi Scotty..yup out of lockdown and life returning to normal..there's a big buzz down here for the new Tom Hanks (as Col Tom) movie Elvis being filmed here in Queensland and there's a major Elvis exhibition opening next year of Goodies from Graceland on display..you can't keep this guy out of the news..ps..I was wondering if you'd ever do a review of the Elvis If I Can Dream album with the Philharmonic Orchestra thingy..would love to know what you thought of that...best
I wouldn’t mind a one part longer one, but what’s easiest on you is best. Two parts I’d watch also. I’ve never taken to the movie Harem Scarem but a few songs on it are pretty good.
Hi my friend, great review of another soundtrack, not one of his best, but I love the soundtracks for all there faults at times, I always thought that this film, and Easy Come, Easy Go, were his two worst movies and soundtracks! Mind you, some interesting info’ of this film which I didn’t know…thanks for sharing, here’s to the next one! cheers both!
Hi Scotty, l loved the headdress!! It made me laugh too this morning at 6:30. There are some really good songs on this LP. The film is ok. Not one of my favourites, quite good. When my cousin John went to see the film in Wood Green London when it was released. He told me that at the end of the were Elvis sings So close yet so far from Paradise. The whole audience stood up and clapped and shouted. Yes they gave Elvis a standing ovation. I don’t know if you Heard this story before? From any where else? I must admit that this is one of my favourite songs I love Kismet as well. On reflection Harem Holiday is a good LP. You guys keep the good work up. I think Priscilla through your eyes would be best in one episode. Stay safe. Ellie 🎼🎵🎶🕺🏻🙂
Elvis makes some of these songs sound far better than what they should be. I love kismet & so close yet so far…maybe I like the sound he makes more than necessarily the songs. Which is never a good recipes for a song ?! Right. Maybe a better way of looking at it is the talent that he possessed enabled for him to come back from this. I’m not to sure many other artists could survive a film like this and still be so relevant again as he would become. The soundtrack edges the film….Some of the publicity shots for the movie he looks staggering, I mean he was otherworldly ! Maybe his handsomeness saves the film a little and I mean a little…but I’m struggling for positives. Elvis was always more than just his looks but in this film there’s little else to admire. Love the show though made me laugh ! I think your light hearted approach is the best when discussing Harum Scarum, or Harem Holiday ! otherwise you’d cry !
Hey Scotty buddy :) how are you my dear friend ? I was waiting for this review on this Soundtrack LP , it takes a really best memories for me as it was my very first LP i bought when i was about 11 or 12 , when the double features came out the sound was super , couldnt get any better , it was like discovering this album again , all the instruments can be crystal clear heard what you dont hear on the LP unfortunatly....love all the songs , thank you buddy, Cheers , your friend : Lior
I’m all good..that’s what it’s about sometimes the memories..look I’m not for one minute saying it’s the best thing Elvis ever did but it’s not the worst either..like I said it’s grown on me. Take care my friend😊
Probably my least watched Elvis movie, least played album, sounding a very bored Elvis throughout. But your intro has got me chuckling so much I will listen and watch both again this weekend. Who knows 😂😂😂
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel hopefully my older self might find some new insight into it. Now I am free to sit back and watch your sandy tribute fully. 👍👍👌👌🕺🕺
Is Elvis singing into a Jacuzzi? Interesting to hear the backstory. We want all the details. Katzman should have called Colonel Sanders and got a bargain bucket :)
Scotty! Dressed to impress! I refused to watch Harem Scarum but heard it had a cult following . My sister and I rented it, held our breath and thought it had to be a parody, European dancers: good grief. Elvis saying “I’m the Sheik of Arabi”- was hilarious but poor guy looked so “over it”
“The film is listed in Golden Raspberry Award founder John Wilson's book The Official Razzie Movie Guide as one of the 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made." 🤠
Love the head-dress 😂 I actually really like this album, although I must admit I do like all the movies and soundtracks but there are some lovely tracks and bonus tracks which like you I think would have gone well in the film. Love hearing all the quirky things regarding his movie career, never knew about the dagger or costumes - I'm surprised that Graceland had a lot of his characters clothing on show as I assumed that all the costumes belonged to the film companies.
Hi Scotty...not to much of a fan of the film itself but some good tracks on there...loved the head gear and the outtakes 😂 looking forward to the next episode...loved the last one guys...take care..TCB..👍🤙👌🎸
Nice kaffiyeh - you wear it well. In Chicago, we had Ray Rayner on TV, with the dubious craft project segments between the Warner Brothers cartoons. Oddly enough, I was listening to the Harem Scarum soundtrack last night. Elvis was in great voice, and the songs were a little more serious. They should have released Hey Little Girl / Animal Instinct as a single. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey Enrico yes the voice never failed him here..it’s unlike any other movie soundtrack..some would say thank god..but like you I enjoy it and it’s not as bad as what has been portrayed I’ve rather years
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel It's the only Elvis soundtrack album I can listen to all the way through. I have yet to sit through the entire movie, though.
Highly enjoyable episode, mr. Sheik of Entertainment ‼️ I haven’t played this soundtrack in a LONG time, but you made me curious about it. Maybe it’s not sooooo bad, as I remember, so I’m gonna give it another shot. Otherwise, it’s Elvis Back In Nasville, that is pleasing my ears for the moment. A Subscribers request - it would be fab if you would do a review of this Fantastic record. Always lokking forward to you next upload. All the best, my friend 🙋♂️
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel Yes - the CDs has soooo much more to offer and they give a much deeper understanding of the sessions. But that of course, is only my humble opinion 😱
Stop it Scotty! You even managed to make this film and soundtrack sound interesting 😂 great, even. Just watched every single Elvis movie with my wife, watching one every Friday night, which has obviously taken over 6 months. Conclusion was generally they were great or at least very enjoyable with exception of Frankie and Johnny and Harum Scarem being a close second. It’s a shame with this one because generally Elvis looks great and sounds great on most tracks. The issue is the movie and the soundtrack just lack good production. For every good Elvis scene there is a Benny Hill scene. The track and scene used with the little girl is just wrong (not Elvis’ fault) and actually think he is hitting himself so hard with the tambourine during that song to punish himself for getting himself involved in such dire situation 😂
I get you..very different times back then..how he remained to look so unawkward is beyond me..they put him into some scenes that only he could have gotten away with.. I laughed about that tambourine comment😂
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel keep em coming 😃 I love the detail and passion you put into these. It works so well mixing the soundtrack album with the movie detail and clips. I think your channel has become an essential and the definitive Elvis album review channel. Look forward to the next one 👍

I’ve always loved them..apparently F&J sounds particularly good in this release
smashing video Scotty.
. how nice to hear positive things things said about Elvis s work... the 60 s critics weren't kind at all were they?. thanks for all you do.. (loved the outtakes! ).
Know they weren’t..but hopefully we can address some of the wrong doing on here my friend😊
Happy Thanksgiving Scotty &Craig Thank you both for all you do to keep Elvis with us I enjoy your post a lot
That’s great..thankyou 😊
Harum Scarum isn't top of my movie picks.but. it does have some great moments in it and Elvis looks just fantastic ! ! ! So close and yet so far is my favorite song and scene from the movie ! Thanks for the great pics and facts ! ! Another great vi video !
That’s exactly it..that’s why I took a light hearted approach to it..I left out the part about Col Parker wanting a talking camel..that would have sealed the deal for me😂
It's all good information as far as I'm concerned Scotty 😊
Hello from England
We have a Free To Air TV Channel called Talking Pictures.
They have only been around about 6 years but they show a wide variety of vintage films and TV series etc from both UK and America
They have been showing ELVIS films recently like G.I.Blues and Fun In Acapulco.
I remember back in the early 1980's BBC and ITV did show the films and i remember watching them and yes we only had 2 channels until 1982 but never thought anything about the music - i just watched the film for what it was -just a film but OH MY i was younger THEN - age has caught up with me
Having started to watch the films again the Soundtrack "mean more to me"
I like all the soundtracks to the films
I think through time we all start to look at things differently..after all it’s still Elvis and I love to look at all aspects of his life and career😊
Hello Joanne, Talking Pictures UK is showing Elvis film, Tickle Me on Sunday 21st November 2021 at 7.10pm.

I agree Scotty, this record and its songs grew on me over time. I think it is really a underated record. I always loved the cover art. Well done and well said. Thank You Scotty and Craig!
Scotty have you seen the trailer for the new Elvis Movie?
The British Media Have Never Given Elvis Credit And Respect The Man Deserves .Mid Sixties (Even Late Fifties) Elvis Had No Chance Of Getting Any Good Reviews Most Of It Been Lavished On That Geezer Who Drove A BUS With His Mates Who Spoke And Acted As If They'd Just Won University Challenge . My Boy My Boy What We Had To Put With .
I watched it again today... loved it ❤
You are very kind..I guess there’s nothing else on😂😉
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel i love all of Elvis ...and I love what you do to remember him.... thankyou soo much 😘
Breathtaking as always ⚡️Elvis ‘s voice and his eyes really hit home … As I feel in all his movies.
The soundtrack songs are great the movie is silly but I recommend the soundtrack
That’s exactly right JM😊
a very nice episode... love this album.... thanks.... :)
Scotty as always your video are always good funny and full of information and you make me laugh a lot thanks buddy take care
Then that’s good enough for me Trevor..thankyou
Walmart has a new Elvis Christmas Album in Clear this year!
I have not seen ths movie I will have to get it thanks scotty for the video
It’s not so much the film but the soundtrack..watch it all then let me know😊
I’m in my 70s now and have quite a lot of vinyl Elvis albums from the early 60s onwards but never play them now as I also have many on cd .
Love your album reviews Scotty!!
Thanks David😊
Great video buddy, and you never looked so good 😎
Need to look deeper in this album I do not own any copy of. I kinda like what I hear 😊
Thanks for sharing!
Hey I got a couple..😉
The mono Uk or USA are my favourite presses.
The Black Rca International is also a good copy
I wrote my comment before I watch video
Hi Scotty...what an entertaining little package this was..I really enjoyed it..I've never seen the film but funnily I have the alblum..the songs sound great too. Love the Blue Peter reviz, I thought they only used old toilet paper rolls...get down shep!!.. can we have more bloopers and outtakes.. brilliant..as for the headgear..every time you do an album review now we want something similar..how about some lamb chop side burns..great entertainment great show great job..love it all
Hold onto that thought Andy..for Christmas we have a special video and side burns are required 😂😂
Thankyou buddy you out of lock down yet?
Hi Scotty..yup out of lockdown and life returning to normal..there's a big buzz down here for the new Tom Hanks (as Col Tom) movie Elvis being filmed here in Queensland and there's a major Elvis exhibition opening next year of Goodies from Graceland on display..you can't keep this guy out of the news..ps..I was wondering if you'd ever do a review of the Elvis If I Can Dream album with the Philharmonic Orchestra thingy..would love to know what you thought of that...best
Yes that’s a great idea..on the list😊
I wouldn’t mind a one part longer one, but what’s easiest on you is best. Two parts I’d watch also. I’ve never taken to the movie Harem Scarem but a few songs on it are pretty good.
Hi my friend, great review of another soundtrack, not one of his best, but I love the soundtracks for all there faults at times, I always thought that this film, and Easy Come, Easy Go, were his two worst movies and soundtracks! Mind you, some interesting info’ of this film which I didn’t know…thanks for sharing, here’s to the next one! cheers both!
Exactly that’s the point Mal..you hit it on the head..you love them warts and all..that’s how I see them😉
Take care buddy
Ciao Scotty!!!
Hello😀
Hey I’ve not heard that story..would have loved to have seen that..I remember seeing Rocky 4 and something similar happened 😂
Hope you are well😊
I like your channel
That’s great..thankyou 😊
That’s exactly it..the last line you hit it on the head..as always summed up better than me
I keep banging on about it but Elvis sang as good as he looked. No one before or since or ever will be able to say that.
@@no-oneman.4140 he was at the front of both queue’s !
Great job! I hate this movie, but I love the soundtrack, especially Animal Instinct and So Close... from Brazil.
I’m “ perplexed “ I got back on “ harum”
I’m sorry , I have tried but I can’t do this film or soundtrack
Luv the show
Some good songs brothers
Great album review ! I also like the album cover ( I dont have the bonus photo) .🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Probably my least watched Elvis movie, least played album, sounding a very bored Elvis throughout. But your intro has got me chuckling so much I will listen and watch both again this weekend. Who knows 😂😂😂
See I don’t think he was sounding bored..but hey see how it goes😉
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel hopefully my older self might find some new insight into it. Now I am free to sit back and watch your sandy tribute fully. 👍👍👌👌🕺🕺
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel I think he sounds bored on the title track! but i love a few songs on this album
Elvis saying “I’m the Sheik of Arabi”- was hilarious but poor guy looked so “over it”
😂😂 great story I’ve never heard that..
More out- takes I hear..lol I’d get taken off of TH-cam..trust me😂😂
Nice kaffiyeh - you wear it well.
Another excellent informative video Scott thank you, but one thing I have to disagree with you on is that Blue Peter was brilliant
🤣🤣there wasn’t a lot of choice in those days and I always watched it but never really liked it..but John I will allow you that one😂😉
This was 1 of the films that made Elvis physically sick. I doubt that he ever saw it.
So know your stuff
What Tape-recorder have you got there? Very stylish your woodcase equipment.
😄 What made you change shirt? Great stuff, as always. Thank you, sir.
Err I don’t know..filming didn’t go well that day buddy..lots of hiccups..nearly threw head dress in😊
Highly enjoyable episode, mr. Sheik of Entertainment ‼️
I haven’t played this soundtrack in a LONG time, but you made me curious about it.
Maybe it’s not sooooo bad, as I remember, so I’m gonna give it another shot.
Otherwise, it’s Elvis Back In Nasville, that is pleasing my ears for the moment.
A Subscribers request - it would be fab if you would do a review of this
Fantastic record.
Always lokking forward to you next upload.
All the best, my friend 🙋♂️
I did it last week Goran or are you talkin about the cd😉
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel
Yes - the CDs has soooo much more to offer and they give
a much deeper understanding of the sessions.
But that of course, is only my humble opinion 😱
You are 100% right..I don’t have it yet but I will keep it in my back pocket😊
