After 13 years, this historic locomotive is due for an overhaul, with Washington & Lincolnton 203 - known as "Lindy" - expected to return for next year's events.
Built in 1890, Southern 154 served for six decades before retiring in 1953. It was displayed in Knoxville's Chilhowee Park until 2008, when it was restored for the Rambler, which is operated by the shortline Knoxville and Holston River Railroad.

Awesome video, Dak! You really hit the ball out of the park for your first ever steam video. Looking forward to many more in the future!
Nice job man! Met you in 2022 shooting some photos up there..
So far the best coverage I have seen from this years excursions with 154. It’s too bad this engine never worked out with my schedule to see it. Great first video on TH-cam!
Thanks Christian!
Excellent job, Dak!
Loved the hard working shots of 154 in the rain and ... snow? Haha, I wonder what those snow machines looked like on board the train.
The multi-angle bridge sequence was the icing on the cake!
Amazing video!
Thanks!
Excellent production
Thank you!
Incredible video! 400th sub right here. Keep up the good work and your channel will take off dude!

Thanks Brian! Sooooo much to edit :o
Nice work, Dak!
Thank you!
Amazing video I wanna get some content like you
What camera did you use
Amazing video keep up the good work
Thanks! This one was shot with a Sony FX3 which shoots 4K.
Nice man good work
Is it being retired entirely? Or just until it’s been overhauled? Great video as well!
Of course, nothing is announced -- but I know the engine is a favorite so I'm sure they'll make every effort to run it in the future.
154 will return 3 to 5 years from now.
What camera are you using?
This was shot on the Sony FX3 cinema camera with a 28-135 f/4 lens.
What about tripod?
I have a few, depending how light I want to pack. This was shot with an iFootage Gazelle.
What would you recommend for optimal panning video stability?
@@TrainTableRailroad Key with panning is a good fluid head. SmallRig and iFootage both make some nice affordable options, then Manfrotto would be a step up. Having a fluid head that is dialed in with a sturdy tripod goes a long way. Then in the editing process, will typically run the Warp Stabilize effect in Premiere to clean up any issues in the pan.
Are more videos coming?
Many more coming from the world of steam trains!
Whats the deal with the fake snow sprayers? I thought I was seeing things....
