About Austin City Limits

My wife and I are from Oberlin, we've met Rhiannon twice. She's lovely, brilliant, extremely hard working, complex and special. When she gives voice to souls long lost she's capable to touch your soul and heart.

I found her this summer when looking for traditional banjo videos on TH-cam. I was happy to see she was included on Ken Burns’ series!
Unbridled talent! Was glad to see her get exposure on that show as well. Discovered her singing back up on another artists song (Kill a Word by Eric Church) and wanted to know who she was. That gal has got some pipes as well as her playing talent.
I also saw her for the first time on the Ken Burns special. So glad I did. She’s an awesome person.... and an awesome musician :-)

The guy playing fiddle is Dirk Powell. He plays around half a dozen instruments and tours with Joan Baez and has been part of her touring family for quite a number of years.

at minute 02:35 she expresses her feeling not only by the special way she sings "you Louisiana man!" but she also has two tiny little wrinkles on her nose for a second or two. She really is a sight to see. You can hear her feelings and watch her thoughts. Great!
What a groove. Discovered her about six months ago singing "Julie." As real as red dirt and 10,000 times more beautiful.
James, I, too, discovered her - stumbled upon her more like it! - less than a year ago. I'm hooked. She has also introduced me to a range of artists with whom I was unfamiliar, eg Carolina Chocolate Drops, Our Native Daughters.

I am from North Carolina and saw her in 2007 at Joshua Tree Festival with Carolina Chocolate Drops, have followed her career ever since. She has such a beautiful voice and spirit, she takes me home every time I hear her sing. A true phenom!

If she went on one of those talent shows like American idol, or the voice the judges heads would explode. Or they would be dumbfounded and at a loss of words. Her voice is so beautiful and her band is tight. Good,real, genuine, soul wrenching music.
Rhiannon has been a professional artist for many years and guess who is one of her fans? The great Joan Baez - her group is called Carolina and The Chocolate Drops. Dirk Powell does not always perform with them depends on his schedule with Joan and other things.
