You missed the most CHARMING part of Montecito! You should have taken San Ysidro road up to east Valley road, and had breakfast in Montecito Village, shopped at Pierre LaFond, walked around the area (cute shops, grocery, boutiques). Coast Village Road is great, but it’s NOT as exclusive. Also, next time you MUST visit the Rosewood Miramar Beach hotel, and get drinks looking out at the ocean. ……VERY luxe!! 😎🥂
It’s small. 3 miles from the beach to the Mountain tops. 4000 homes. 10,000 people. Some really big properties like Oprah’s but also lots of old school cottage properties. Not too hot. Not too cold. No streetlights or sidewalks in most of Montecito. Kind of still has a rural feel to it.
Funny, I grew up in neighboring Summerland. Went to Mt Carmel for school. It cracks me up to hear people gushing about it. I went to school with people who were related to big Hollywood people. Their moms drove unassuming station wagons. Not like the flashy posers of today.
I lived in Summerland for a year. The reason back then some of the rich drove normal cars there was because of the Patty Hearst kidnapping thing in the 70s. They all wanted to blend in so their kids would not look like targets. Before that there was a bit of showing off from what I heard. I guess now it's back to being prestigious again.
Next time go to Pierre La Fond Market, grab a coffee drink there… I recommend the Soy Coconut Espresso Latte. Get a breakfast sandwich on a croissant add avocado. Yum! Another trip, come to Westlake Village where I live! Have dinner on the beautiful lake at The Landing. So peaceful and beautiful.
I used to work for an elderly lady there years ago. I asked what her husband did to become so wealthy? (She was really open and loved to talk) He had invented the egg carton! Then I knew it only takes one thing, one invention in one lifetime! Lol, still working on that...
One of my biggest dream is to visit the U.S.A., and I realy want to spend some time in California. Thank you to show me a little part of it. Best wishes from Hungary. Take care :)
I was just out in SoCal a few days ago. I was up in Malibu. I thought about trying to reach out to you. You seem like a cool guy to hang out with. Anyhow, keep doing what your doing, I enjoy watching your adventures!
I can't believe you missed the Biltmore Hotel, it's right there by the beach where you were. It's not just another luxury hotel, it's ground zero for the rich and famous. built in1928, everyone from Queen Elsbeth to Presidents to the current Royals have been there. I personally saw Barbara Streisand there once for their Sunday brunch. It's the equivalent of the Beverly Hills Hotel in LA only a lot more low key with a beautiful view of the ocean. Lots of history there.
The Biltmore hasn't been open since 2020, and locals in town couldn't care less if Barbara Streisand or any other celebrity is staying, dining, shopping there or anywhere else in town, unlike LA where black SUVs stalk and chase them 24/7. The locals like to keep it that way.
@@MikeListon-tk8ir As someone who grew up in Santa Barbara lived there more than 20 years and worked in the Biltmore I can assure you it was a big deal back in the day as was the Queen of England and many others. You sound like an entitled transplant, not someone who grew up there. When I lived there it was not the celebrity enclave like it is today. By the way, the Builtmore is planned to re-open very soon I hear.
What is California without the overpriced coffee lol Thank you for sharing Montecito . When I went to their hot spring I was amazed how there’s a villla entrance in every house on the way 😅
An article yrs ago quoted a matron in Monteceito saying she wished the area were closer to SF instead of LA. Back then SF was still doing very well while LA was more of a dystopia. Today in certain ways (culturally or socially), LA is more of a complete world while SF is more of a dystopia---M Martello's recent visit here notwithstanding. The weather gives the West Coast a different look & vibe than areas like the Hamptons, Newport RI or Martha's Vineyard. I used to think the older wealth of the NE & greener terrain of a Long Island were a step above SoCal. But areas like a Santa Barbara or Laguna Bch seem to have a friendlier look & feel.
Come on this is just Santa Barbara. Does montecito want to distinguish themselves from the poor section of SB? There is no poor section of SB. Thats called Santa Maria a neighboring city.
@@onthehill3381 Perhaps technically it is Santa Barbara…….but it is on ANOTHER LEVEL when it comes to privacy, upscale shopping, and dining, and NO tourists!! (hopefully it stays that way, keep the riff-raff on State street, and SB beaches!!).
Fun Fact: Italian settlers who saw Monticello Mediterranean-like climate, put down roots in the late 1800s. That's why so many lemon orchards started there. Probably olives as well.
Where are you, Michael ? We are missing your videos!
Hope you're well in every regard, my friend.❤❤❤
I live in Santa Barbara, and work in Montecito - I am truly blessed, it’s pretty magical.

yayy thanks for the tips!!
I lived in Montecito for several years, pure magical paradise. Nothing like it!
I visited Montecito this winter and was surprised to see how small the community is. Great video, Michael!

Very cute video and loved the hike. Time to get to the other side of the tracks Mike!🍎💚

Seriously. Lol. Montecito actually sucks

Thanks for such summer California vibes. Montecito is a real gem in LA district. 💎Love the nature and a plenty of trees and plants. 🌳🌴🌴 ❤
It’s a real gem!!
Love it,looks just incredible 😂❤❤I want to visit there.Great video very well presented!
The "ok let's just go" at @4:38 had me dying 😂
Sweet personality and smile - thanks for the positive vibes
Well done! I am a local. It’s changed a little since the pandemic but still a low key kind of place and hard to beat!

Yeah where is he? 3 months now and counting …

Rory’s ice cream is local and very good
Lol the hot springs and zen sounds really reminded me of the chakra scene in avatar 😂
Caffe Luxxe coffee is amazing!
¡Viva la California!
I really like your videos ... they were a big motivator for me to move out here. And I am SO happy to be here! (LA, not Montecito :) )
yayyy!!
@@MichaelMartello ... and if you ever need a lunch-stop at the beach in Redondo Beach, I'm buying! :)

Such an otherworldly place! lol
Have you visited Riverside CA and Mt.Baldy?
Next time try dinner at Luckys (the bar side) and soon The Biltmore will be opening up again😎
The sandwich and coffee price is the same for all places not expensive at all
New video soon?
All the best
I think you live in my building in PV! Lol 🤔🧐
Oh bro please can you make a video about Texas... I'm Arabic from Tunisia but I can speak English and one from your followers.
Ask RKL what Montecito is like
Montecito, where every breath is 7 bucks.
The whole first part of your video you were in the City of Santa Barbara, not technically Montecito.
All about bloodlines.
Rich living gets boring real fast. 3 days max at a time.
The real world is where the excitement is at.

I mean tbh I've seen much nicer houses than that. It wasn't special at al ngl.

Montecito is NOT Santa Barbara!! That’s like saying Beverly Hills is just L.A. ……..Totally different place, different vibe. 🤷🏼♂️😎
@@eddieg6436 it’s in SB County. It technically is. If you look up the zip code 93108 it is a “Santa Barbara” zip. It will not say Montecito.

Not sure if you’re 420 friendly, but you give good vibes. Like I imagine you just enjoying an edible on the beach, relaxing. 😂
