This was amazing ! I've been sub'd before y'all bought the girl emerald, watching every thing y'all have done, well ! That's some true Craftsmanship ! Love from Nashville .
The knowledge to tear that boat down and build it. The way you wanted to was very impressive. You guys worked good together as a team and the young ones coming of age.
That's a big day for all of you - to put her back in the water, and run over to the fuel dock, and then to your own. A big "thumbs up" after putting in a tremendous amount of planning and time and work (and money!). Feels pretty good, I bet. Congratulations to all of you, and thank you for sharing this "milestone" in your getting the new boat in shape, with everything properly done or inspected, Many, many hours of work. I had a good chuckle (and was glad to see) the piece of dashboard for the 6-71. Looks just like what's on the dashboard on many a city transit bus. I suppose it's possible to make an all-new instrument panel section for those gauges, and re-mount everything, but I think having that bit of history inn among all the modern electronics, etc. - it adds a certain flair to the appearance kind of a unique touch A big shout-out to you all for sharing this. I'm looking forward (as I know many others are) to the weeks and months ahead. I think a party is in order.
Excellent job, great explanations as usual. Your attention to detail is emblematic of a good Captain and crew and will lead to a safe, secure, vessel. Bravo!
Great video guys!! So exciting to watch her put into the water. And she sounds great! Happy for you with your hard work paying off. Definitely been a labor of love to refit her.
Len, After few hours of bearing break in, I would run top hull speed for an hour or so while near home to check out keel cooler performance. I'm sure you have that on your to do list before your 1st trip. Nice to have way on the Emerald Isle I bet, huh?
You’re an amazing man Lin. Great to see her in the water again. What is the normal running temp of the bearings? Thanks again for sharing this adventure.
Are you eventually going to refinish the wood around the bridge, because it looks like it needs some tlc to protect it from the elements. Also, will you paint it green as it's called the Emerald Isle? The boat looks like it's wallowing after launch and top heavy in the water (concerned for your safety) is that because it's not properly ballasted. TY for the wonderful video guys so happy for you, now that the boat is under its own power.
This is old material correct? I know it's probably next to impossible for you, but t would be nice to see all of this stuff in chronological order. At least date the material! Really enjoy the videos and you guys do a great job!
Hi guys, what to say, I'm gobsmacked it's happened so quickly, mind you breaking up the segments has put the time line slightly out of perspective! Like me Len you must be a Virgo check everything time and time again - and the care paid off she launched and ran beautifully, excellent filming as well.
Is there any way really to know you have the grease ring in the right spot other than maybe pushing the packing and the grease ring in with the compression collar and then measure back to make sure it's in line with the grease zerk or you just hope it's right? I was happy that you didn't line up the 3rd ring with the 1st. When you said you were just going to go 180 I was afraid you were going to go 180 to the second and the 1st and 3rd seams would line up. I was thinking more like 120 degrees.
I would have thought the control booth for the gantry lift would be in front rather than the back so they could see better where they were going or have a control booth on both the front and back so coming out or going in they could see where they're going depending on putting in or pulling out. I suppose turning around could work too but I don't imagine those really turn and just for forward and back. Oh I see he does turn it around heh heh Do they charge you storage in the marina in "dry dock" or just to put it in and out or perhaps there's like 2 weeks free and after that they charge? I didn't notice you didn't have any glass on the front of the wheel house before. Was that missing or it was taken out to replace or maybe just optical illusion? Also, how did you have fuel to the engines when you mentioned the fuel lines were capped off when showing off the stuffing box? Temp lines I take it of some sort? I thought you were going to have to tow it with the 'tail.
When was the launch? I am not a Diesel Guy... Is that the healthy sound of a Diesel? If my Car was knocking like that I would be frightened... And why wasn't the Rudder part of the re-furb? Or did I miss it...
Hey Rich. Total normal for a diesel so no worries there. Concerning the rudder, we haven't removed it as of yet. One reason we we left the last two pieces of the fishhold bulkhead open was so we could drop the new shafts in through the aft hold. There was just enough room to slip them in, otherwise we would have had to remove the rudder and slide them in through the cutlass bearing from ouside. The rudder is in good shape and no issues with the stuffing box on the rudder post, but at some point in the future we will tear it down and go through it all.
You call it a travel lift, we call in a straddle crane...same, same! You might note, fwd lift strap appears to be putting load on your keel cooler, just fwd of your port roll chine. That's a no, no!
Dock foreman: go put that boat in the water, and this time, leave the travel lift on dry land. Me: *totally miss judges the gap and drives one side of the lift off the dock.
I just love the old troller look
GOOD that Dad is so knowledgeable about repair
You're a champion. Being so nonchalant about breaking the 5200 bond. 'Yeah, it wasn't a problem.'

Great job EIS team on launching Emerald Isle! So much work accomplished! 👍👍keep rolling and be safe EIS crew! 👍👍
Brilliant video! I loved all the different viewpoints of the same timeline. It's so excellent that the Emerald Isle is at this stage now.

Best wishes from the UK for the next stage of your journey.
She looks amazing! Len did you install the retractable plank for when the crew get rowdy? Dont forget the Keelhaul harnesses as well!😁
Hope you remembered to put the plug in.
Yea!
Thanks for sharing, and didn’t one of you say it was a JD motor?
Nope, she has a 671 in her. The Fish Tale has a Lugger, which is a marinized Deere.
when is the expected first day of fishing on the Emerald Isle?
With all the repairs you have done do you think it was a good purchase

Remember they have the shelter structure on the whole back end. It's metal poles, so the breeze, definitely would push against it
They drop the poles and run with wings in the water as stabilizing.
That’s a nice sight
I’m curious how that boat used to fish if you know anything about it’s original set up
🐟

Darn that beep to Heck..
Foghorn? It looked a little foggy to me coming in there wasn't sure.
She’s a floater 🎉

Their is always that little man in your head asking you “are you sure everything is sealed up”??
“No Leaks”?
Are there any plans for window upgrades?
Yes! Windows have been replaced. Stay tuned for that one!
