    sometimes loosening the neckscrews, pulling the neck by the headstock to the opposite direction of the close-to-the-edge-string and tightening the screws again does the job! quite common issue with bolt on necks.

    Not for the faint of heart! I had the same issue on my Telemaster/Jazzcaster build. I posted a video as well and it seems we both went down the same path. I tried to wiggle the neck into place but the strings moved too far down the barrel saddles. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who had to take 'extreme' measures to make things right. Cheers!

      This is definitely the lesser of two evils. The alternative is reshaping the neck pocket and that to me doesn’t look great
      Great minds think alike

    Your video will definitely help me. I have the same problem and thought about he same solution, but I wanted to see if anybody else had tried and succeed before pulling the trigger and poentially making a mess of it myself. Thanks!

    I always redrill the holes in the pocket to about 5- 5.5mm to allow for adjustment. This always works unless the neck fitting is exceptionally tight...which is unusual. The amount of neck movement needed for the adjustment is pretty miniscule. Only ever found this to be a big problem with vintage (56 -mm) string spacing btw.

    I paid too much for a charvel that showed up with this issue. Unfortunately upon waiting to hear back from them, my dog scratched the guitar because I left it off my wall in the process of being so disappointed with it so I got stuck with it. Now I have to try something of the sorts to work it out myself. Last charvel I buy. Nothing over $1000 should show up like that, no excuse.

      I got a Charvel about 6 weeks ago. Same issue. I have a So Cal HH Hard Tail. I was able to loosen the neck plate screws about a half a turn each then align it by shifting the neck over. Then tighten the neck screws snug in a criss cross pattern while holding pressure. Philip McKnight channel has a video on the procedure. I agree the setup and QC on a $1000 guitar should be way, way better.

    loosen backplate neck screws a 1/2 turn move the neck hold and tighten. Its easy to get a couple of mil out of it and you're done.

    Did you try loosening the four plate screws a half turn then pushing the neck down and re tightening.phil mcnight know your gear has a vid on it.non invasive .best try that first.i have same prob.so i will try the screw loose method first.

    • @PherotoneStudios

      Afraid so. It doesn’t work that well on Tele’s due to the square neck pocket. Still misaligned after doing that. Although, that always seems to work on strats

    Just viewed the first two videos on this guitar. Now I wonder, was this issue there from the start?

    • @PherotoneStudios
      @PherotoneStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was but i didn’t notice it initially. Took some measurements and it’s the neck pocket that’s slightly misaligned

    • @fritsvanzanten3573

      @@PherotoneStudios Thx. I had a guitar with a similar issue. In the factory they even made an extra slot in the bridge to keep the high e-string 'aboard'. I never had any problems with it (newbie, and even the guitar store didn't mention it when I brought it there for maintenance), gigged with it for two years but friends had the string 'come off' when string-bending. I always did bend-ups (pushing the string up), but apparently they did bend-downs (pulling them down).

    • @PherotoneStudios
      @PherotoneStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was it a Telecaster style guitar by any chance?
      It’s odd to bend the high e towards the edge of the fretboard. I always bend up

    I have a problem that I wonder if it can be fixed? Chinese grote, humbucker screws not lined up with strings on both humbuckers. Tailpipe is bent and the closest one is ok. Its when you get to the one by the fretboard. Its way off as you get closer to the high E. I'm wondering if its a dud or can I fix it?

    Hi, thanks for this video. I asked some time back about a problem on a misaligned neck on an ibanez gio. Since then I sold the ibanez and bought a squier telecaster custom, which has the same problem. Thank you for a solution.

    • @PherotoneStudios
      @PherotoneStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah no, same problem on two different guitars! No idea why these Telecasters are so prone to it but I’ve taken measurements and it’s the neck pocket that’s wonky, rather than the bridge being in the wrong position.
      It’s just easier to move the bridge than redo the neck pocket.
      Let me know how you get on with it

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PherotoneStudios yes, I am still trying to decide weather to fix it at all. On my the low E string is too close to the edge, and I don't really play low E string high enough to bother me, but it does not look right. I am also planning to buy a Creamery wide range pickup and changing caps and pots, so I will probably be doing it all together.

    • @PherotoneStudios

    Wrong. You loosen the neck bolts slightly, move the neck to counter that, then tighten them down. This is what happens when you screw the neck down all the way without making sure its sitting in the pocket correct and can and DOES happen on Fenders as well.

    • @PherotoneStudios
      @PherotoneStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wrong. That works on strat necks, this is a telecaster which has a square heel.

    If you feel like your bottom string is too low. Then you should take your guitar to an expert...using white glue and kebab sticks, and approximate measurements result in more heartache as seen in over overcompensation....If you can't play as it is, then sell it and buy something you can, rather than dick around with it!!!

      As a carpenter that has made plenty of guitars, I am more than qualified to fix this easy repair.
      As explained in the video, there are two options: move the bridge, or redo the neck pocket.
      Also explained in the video: the neck pocket repair looks unsightly.
      If you’re making new holes 2mm from old holes then you need to fill the old holes or the screws will slip into them. Kebab skewers are made of hardwood and are round. It’s far easier to use those than make a round wooden dowel which would end up the same diameter as those kebab skewers.
      The white glue is weatherproof PVA. It glued wood to wood. The kebab skewers are made of wood. The guitar body is made of wood. It’s a match made in heaven.
      As for the approximate measurements, I ran a straight edge along the edge of the neck to work out exactly where the bridge should have been. Then. And this is the clever part. Loved the bridge to where it should have been.
      Before writing a knobbish comment, stop and think. I’ve shown a repair in a way that anyone can do as I’ve seen many Telecasters with this issue (and it’s always Telecasters) which have been repaired by an “expert” which then come to me to resolve.
      The only other option is to redo the neck pocket. And like it said several times, that looks awful. Unless you’re going to get the body repeated afterwards. Maybe check the cost of a repray because it’s more than the cost of that entire guitar
