"La Galette" was composed by Pierre Leon Bouisset inb 1843 when he entered the Special Military School of Saint Cyr, naming the march after the blue epaulettes worn by officer cadets. The song eventually became the school's anthem.

@@r-soft5274 Same in Belgium actually :) Though we have only one military school, the RMA (Royal Military Academy) which serves all branches (air force, army, navy, medical.)

Sans doute. Mais ta mère t'a-t-elle dit qu'une partie de la mélodie de la Galette est une reprise de "L'artilleur de Metz", dont les paroles sont, comment dire... plus qu'osées ? A chaque fois que j'entends La Galette, à partir de la 49e seconde, je commence à ricaner tellement le contraste est fort avec la fierté et le caractère martial des cyrards qui défilent. Cherche un peu les paroles, et tu verras...

Here, the word "galette" hasn't the slightest relation with the biscuit you are talking about. This word designed the rounded epaulette worn by the future officers studying in Saint-Cyr
