Dude, you’re literally the coolest fucking guitar channel on TH-cam. The content alone is bonkers. Then there’s your room and backdrop setting… like, where the fuck are you?! It’s amazing and unlike anything else out there on TH-cam. Love. It. You’re truly doing the Lord’s work.
Theres an old Crate cab when they still had the stenciled font logo that is similiar dimensions to the Mesa oversized and is front loaded, all birch including back panel. I'm sure whatever speakers it comes with suck but if you can find them they are dirt cheap and make an awesome recording cab. Plus front loading is a bit of a different flavor than the standard Mesa cab.
@@LordofDiamondsMetalim late here but im buying 2 crate 4x12’s this sayurday a straight and a slant im replacing the soeakers in the slant with 2 dv77’s from emminance and 2 v30s hoping it sounds awesome
I'm sure it would sound better but I don't really have the cash to drop on brand new speakers right now. Besides, I'm more interested now in finding old stuff that's cheap and/or unique. Modern speakers are predictable and boring right out of the box. Stuff that's been around for 20 or more years has had time to age and there's a greater chance you get something special or at least distinctive
Thanks for this informative video, count me as a new fan and subscriber..I also got a cheap Crate 412SL and was struggling to get a good sound out of it, and you gave some very good insights 😊
It's most likely a 240 watt cabinet. If it's stereo, it's possible that it is a 280 watt cab. The GX series is the stuff to look for out of the solid-state amps. They had Eminence speakers. Any of the Blue Voodoo series is great.
it has two inputs with no explanation, so I guess it could be stereo? and I have heard that some old Crate cabinets had Eminence speakers in them, but mine is definitely not one of them XD. I don't even remember what the label on the speakers said
The heads were always sick but the cabs tend to be kinda in the cheap side. Could be a great project for upgrading the speakers since the cab itself is well built.
Most of the time the problem with these cheap cabs is volume you can get them to sound good at low volumes but when you try to play with a drummer they crap out as soon as you push them
greetings. get the CRATE BH412 CAB. the one that was made to company the blue voodoo 300h tub amp from the early 2000. i bout my 2003. now i finally get the amp. the room was i very big deal with this cab/amp.

glad you enjoy it! as to where I am, it's the top floor of a wood shop that I've repurposed as a living and recording space

I haven't tried getting the stinky speakers out of my Crate yet and replacing them, maybe that would be worth doing

You can put in dv77's now use different ohms of course and have dual inputs for stereo sound. 😊

With the way black metal's been sounding these days I GUARANTEE they'll sanitize it

Crate was farther back than the 90's like late 70's.
The cabinets were built with pine and looked like shipping crates.
Hence the name Crate.
No kidding. do you have any insight on what time period mine might have come from
@@LordofDiamondsMetal You can kind of date it by the logo, my guess is; your's is probably an early 2000s cabinet.

Fuck man looks sick, it's been a good while but badass
I think it sounds great👍
Crate is a hidden jem.
“holy crap, 99 bucks”... 😂 good vid again man
The Crate is a Box for a solid State Amp. But not Crap at all 🤘
The ending sound was kinda deftoney
mmmk. Sounds cool to me

Wow, I expected difference... But the dog shit tone was mind-blowing
just glad it isn't another mesa oversize loaded with V30s. that sound needs to go away.
lol ok !!
I used to have that cab hahaha. It definitely has character but I wasn't a fan
