In my interpretation, The cameraman didn't come back into reality, Which means he's still deep in the backrooms. When he was in the projector room with the windows, He sees another section of the backrooms. If he was truly in reality, He should be seeing outside
how i see it is the backrooms imitates the front rooms, hence why there's so much furniture and other things, so the facility he found wasn't the real facility, it was the backrooms trying to replicate the magwave facility.
I read on a reddit thread that the original portal they stepped through likely was shut off, breaking the link between the backrooms and reality. What he stepped into was probably just a shell or copy of the research facility, but not the real one. Then when the portal was reopened, he clipped back into reality above the facility.

honestly i found this ending kind of lackluster for like an hour and a half of gameplay. i will definitely still be replaying for when it gets updated
