Persevere

This story is about three friends who are all dealing with their own problems. The friends, Emma, Ashley and Sophie, all do their separate extracurriculars when they aren’t hanging out at their special cafe or having school. They start to distance themselves from each other unconsciously while trying to manage themselves, until after one frustrating day, Sophie takes them to their cafe. As they are there, they discuss the things that they’ve all been going through separately, and in the end, they agree to help one another out. The last scene shows all three friends doing what they all love to do.
This short film was produced during the Youth Mental Wellness Reel Camp for Girls organized by Hawai‘i Women in Filmmaking in collaboration with Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi and the UHM Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center and thanks to the generous support of the National Endowments for the Arts.
