Philippines does have potential BUT for any new investor there are hurdles. They are in my opinion in order difficulty the following 1) Corruption ......present from low level to Government level. The amount of corruption you will need to deal with and pay is linked to the value of the project of business enterprise you are engaging. 2) Importation. Notorious corruption and inefficiency with the Customs. This affects all ports. Manila not unsurprisingly is the worst but be prepared to have to shell out to get your containers cleared at any point of entry 3) Permits and Documentation to do business. The Phil Government would have you believe it is easy and efficient ...It is NOT. very unclear requirements and very little help available t navigate thru the hopeless bureaucracy also factor in local permits. This are controlled on the Barangay (local council) level. Incredibly inefficient and corrupt. You can have all your Government permits in order but still get held up by a local mayor or barangay captain.

Tim - Thank you for putting together this video. It was informative and a good place to start when considering doing business in the Philippines.
Also, not a lot of content out there on TH-cam regarding this topic. So again, much appreciated.
    All the best!

Wow, trust a Manila accountant to understate the realities of setting up business in the Philippines. For a more sobering picture consider it's #113 place ranking on the "world bank ease of doing business" index.

Problem with foreigners who would like to own a small business or even a home is you can’t technically own it outright unlike most all other countries
If they lifted those very restrictive rules medium and small business would boom
I wanted to start 3 medium to small businesses there but I have not rights there even though I’m married to a Filipino which they don’t recognize because we are same sex
So they lost a half million in investment from me

I kinda see this as un under-representation of the Philippines as a whole because most, if not all, of the talk is constricted in the northern part of the archipelago.
The southern part has been left out when it is home to major economic developments in the country, predominantly tourism and business process outsourcing services especially the province of Cebu. It's mostly Manila-centric as most international content tends to be.

It’s also the #1 country that Americans marry while America is friendly to international couples allowing rights and pathway to citizenship they do not ...well it’s extremely messy and complex
All your talking about is huge corporations ya you pay the right government official you can extract and exploit but have no real ties to or interest in the well being of the country because you can own anything outright doesn’t make sense to me
