- Made this late last night, I absolutely adore this song and this band, it really helped pull me out of a year long burnout of writing music so I will forever be grateful.
I've never done something like this with multiple camera angles (I only have one camera so I did 3 takes and combined them throughout the song), figured this would be a great way to practice my editing and to show my appreciation to this band!

Really nice cover. You can tell how well you understand the melody with the minor changes you added in. Super subtle but brings it all together. Keep it up dude, would love to see Heavy is the head next
Cheers dude that means a lot! I'll have to have a go at heavy is the head sometime, I believe the tuning on that song is super low so I might have to look into getting some proper thick strings haha

@@johncarlson2632 He does! I do have the Gretsch tbf but getting a 105 through it takes some work, got an 84 for it right now and it holds up well on E but gets pretty floppy any lower than that!
That was absolutely insane. The fills you added give so much more depth to this track. Been learning it for the past couple weeks on my bari so I'll certainly be adding these fills in. Earned a sub!

@@JoeAnthonyCourtney I did notice that we're both using Neural DSP Gojira X, would you mind sharing your preset? I thought I had a great one setup then came to record and the bottom sounded so blown out on speakers hahah. Headphones were fine though, hence not noticing it sooner.
I'm new to mixing and mastering, so I'm at a losing battle anyways 😂
@@Stuub. I would but I honestly don't know how to share presets haha + I always find that a lot of presets sound drastically different depending on the guitar you have / pickups, are you using your bridge or neck pickup? / what kind of guitar are you using? Also I haven't done a crazy amount of mixing on this, as I've just recorded over the top of the original track so I think I just pushed the mids and treble and lowered the bass a tad on the amp just to poke the guitar through the mix a bit without adding to the tracks already enormous low end.
I keep coming back to this video, its just so damn good. I cant stop listening. Love the song and I love the subtle changes, chefs kiss.

Out of all the covers I've seen from this song, I think this is the best one by far. That improve solo was soooo good! Erik does that live so I love that nice subtle touches. Nice job!

This is actually a modded Fender Player 1 Jazzmaster, I swapped out the neck for a fender baritone Strat neck so it’s got a 27 inch scale length, I did get a luthier to do this for me as these necks don’t come with string tree holes / tuner holes etc
Did it because finding baritones can be quite tricky there’s not a whole lot on the market really

Cheers mate! It’s got a subsonic baritone Strat neck on it so it holds the tension much better, when I made this I had 68-14 strings on it

Thanks dude! I used Neural DSP Gojira with the super heavy amp and cab but with the neck pickup selected, I'm not 100% if they recorded the actual song on the record with the neck pick up but on their audio tree performance he's using the neck pickup on his Strat, thanks for watching mate!

Thanks man! To be honest I didn't learn it from tabs I may have looked at a couple when I first learned this song but a lot of it was from ear, the tuning is ADADGB so it's a bit of a change of setup for most guitars but if you're willing to do it the first tab you see on google is pretty decent!

Unfortunately I don't, I learnt this from most tabs you'd find searching on google and ended up adding my own small changes purely because I'd played the song so much

@@JoeAnthonyCourtney interesting! As the drummer wrote this song in drop D with a standard acoustic guitar and the band heard his recording in a car ride (Kadeem & Erik) and decided to create their own version for the album so it always interests me what people do for their own covers.

Hey mate thanks so much! So the tuning is ADADGB it’s a modified baritone tuning which might take some work to get your guitar setup in I’m using a baritone guitar here, as for tone I’m using the neck pick-up running into neural dsp archetype gojira!

@@SirNathanel it’s a fender, it originally was a normal jazzmaster but I replaced the neck with a subsonic 27.5 scale length fender Strat neck to turn it into a baritone, it’s not absolutely necessary if you want to play in this tuning but the extra scale length defo helps with intonating the low A!
