    I WOULD NEVER put splashes of “glue” down like this, this is seen in the tile industry as a big no no, you want even coverage leaving no pockets of air for nice adhesion, I don’t even know why he did that?

    I did not see the use of a tile trowel. A Trowel would spread the adhesive more evenly, and avoid hollow pockets. You don't start with a mix. Use a measuring tape 1st.

    I have a question sir. We are doing a marble back splash in our kitchen. We have a granite counter top without a granite border. Do we need a border trim to start from the bottom when installing the backsplash? Please help

    • @QLHTilingWaterproofing
      @QLHTilingWaterproofing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sir
      Good question and easy answer no you dont need anything.
      Just install the granite splashback directly but leave 2-3mm gap at the bottom of the granite.
      Thanks

    Hi did you use grout in between the tiles? Or do you have any suggestions how to make the tiles look seamless? Thanks

    • @QLHTilingWaterproofing
      @QLHTilingWaterproofing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Charlene
      Thanks for your questions.
      We have used grout in between the tiles joints.
      To make it look seamless just use same colour grout as like tiles.
      Thanks

    • @vegan-rising
      @vegan-rising ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yulianaredford7024
      these are much cheaper in terms of material cost and because its also possible to cut and install yourself if u have some experience.
      with quartz slab you need to find experienced because the slabs are really expensive u cannot risk it.
      honestly quartz slab will look way better as they are cut to size.
      if u doing a quartz countertop you may as well just do a quarts backsplash at the same time so it all matches.
      but these large tiles will look good too if done right and you are low on budget.

    Brilliant work. I am planning a similar installation. I have same size tiles 1200x600. Only difference is that I was planning to put 45cm height between worktop and wall cabinets as per my kitchen designer. Which would involve cutting the tiles. But after looking at your install, 60cm gap is also possible. Any reason for people preferring 45cm or 60cm?

    • @QLHTilingWaterproofing
      @QLHTilingWaterproofing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rahul
      Thank you for the question I highly recommend you 60cm splashback 40 is not enough gap from bench top to cabinet.
      Yes for sure people prefer 60.

    Please could you let me know, why some tile fitters say that big tiles cannot be used for a backsplash?
    I bought exactly the same type of tiles in this video, for my kitchen backsplash and floor. (120 × 60 and 60 x 30)
    One tile fitter told me that it will look absolutely ugly.
    Is there any hidden reason? Bear in mind that worktops and backsplashes using the same quartz, is in fashion at the moment.
    My idea would be that the worktop is white, with marble-pattern tiles for the backsplash and floor.
    Please could you let me know? Many thanks 🙏🙏

    • @QLHTilingWaterproofing
      @QLHTilingWaterproofing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Sung The answer is yes definitely you can use big tiles for the kitchen splashback, you can use as big as you want.
      There is no hidden reason for that its only some tilers they don’t really like to install big tiles because it’s heavy and harder to install then the smaller.
      Thats all

      I honestly thought the person in this video did a good job but I agree that huge tiles like this are super unattractive. To me, it looks like something from the 90s in a Miami Deco home. It's up to personal preference of course but I would say large tiles like the ones shown in this video aren't very attractive. It's also aesthetically better to have a variation of your kitchen tile dimensions vs your floor.

      I have 4 by 4s and i hate them i will be installing big tiles to coordinate my new granite counter tops. Large tiles are the new thing. And besides if like it do it. Why do what everyone is doing?

      I did the exact same tile and 1200mm x600mm estatuario marble effect large format tile just before Christmas and it looks great with grey cabinets. Just be mindful not to have white units with the glossy white tiles as it could end up looking washed out or like a bathroom. My kitchen worked well with the grey thankfully and the gold brass hardware. Tiles are VERY HEAVY and a nightmare to cut. I had a tiler refuse the job, another umming and ahhing and someone who just got busy and did it. Well worth it! Less grout lines and easy to clean.
