There is definitely something special about Scotland. We had only been to Edinburgh and St Andrews until we got our campervan but since then we disappear up there every opportunity we get particularly to the Highlands and Islands x
We also took early retirement 18 months ago, at 50. Sold up in Somerset and moved to Buckie in Moray. Much drier than the west coast and much easier to live in. We have shops and doctors like the rest of the UK and people always head to the west coast leaving the beautiful county of Moray and Aberdeenshire to local people. We find we now don’t need go west very often, couple of times a year. Being near Inverness is very handy for people visiting by plane. Living next to the sea in a brilliant house that cost 115k with garage and parking for the Moho is so freeing. Our council tax is £105 a month which in Scotland includes your water so living is cheap. We now mainly explore from home in our local area of Speyside, Cairngorms and Spey Bay. We are however planning 3 months on Sardinia and Corsica in the new year. Good luck with your travels.
Wow that sounds like you are living the dream! And also like you have no regrets. Your future plans sound fab we too want to travel more in Europe when we get our house sorted. Hopefully not long now😊
Great road trip, we love the Highlands but not been as far as you our last trio, as well stopped 4 nights at Oban, as I wanted to do a solo up Ben Nevis. Only been to Skye once and so wanted to go again last year but Mrs Metalman got the cold from hell so we had to come home 2 days early :o(. Those beaches looked insane, looking forward to finding out where they are, cheers Alan
We have had 5 nights on the islands now and been blessed with the most stunning sunsets and weather for November 😊 storms are due early next week so that should be interesting!
Great blog and great editing. Just love Scotland. Throughout the daily work life my mind often wonders to the Munro’s and mountains l have walked.
